Reasoning.

The girl before him also spread her feet apart, putting her right foot forward. She moved her hands so that one arm blocked her torso while the other shielded her abdomen, creating an imperfect ‘X’ at the front of her body. She raised her eyebrow with a curled lip as if she was taunting her opponent to hit first.

Ramo’s brow twitched in agitation. He dashed in a straight line, kicking sand at the back of his soles. He then leaped the remaining distance, his arms twirling into the air along with his body as he lifted his leg at an angle.

The front of his foot slammed into the girl’s blocking arm, making her wince as they threw her balance off, and her feet slid across the ground, creating a cloud of dust. Ramo then unleashed a barrage of kicks at the girl's head, causing her to duck and lean back, then to her torso, which she evaded, blocked, then threw his legs off one at a time.

He pivots on his foot and closed in, pulling his hands close to his face as if in a boxing stance while shifting from side to side. His eyes focused on the girl’s torso as he took a deep breath and threw several jabs at her face and chest. The girl evaded the first two sets of punches with his knuckles grazing only her fleeting brown hair. However, as his speed increased, he switched from hooks with his right hand and uppercuts from his left.

The girl’s pupils scanned her foe with deep precision, attempting to track his abundance of punches thrown. Her vision only saw mere second blurs before a wave of wind skimmed near the sides of her face.

She looked at Ramo’s hurried breaths and sweat dripping down his brow. Her eyes blink, focusing only on his tilting shoulder and veins popping in his arm as he inched up for another punch. A bead of sweat swiveled down his chin and dropped onto the side of his hand. The entire room goes silent despite the continued cheering crowd around her.

Her body pivoted to the side, eluding his next jab while she watched the water drop glide past her eye-line and down his thumb. She then latched onto his hand and pulled him closer, kicking the back of his leg and making him stumble. Before his knees hit the ground, he pivoted on his foot and tries a last desperate attempt to straight jab. She grabbed his arm, twirled him around, clutching it behind his back, and slammed his lower legs to the ground with her knee.

Enraged with clenched teeth, Ramo attempted to look back, but the girl grabbed onto his neck with her other arm and clenches down so that he began to gasp. Ramo tried to latch onto her side with his open hand but could only graze the side of her face with his fingers as the corners of his eyes redden, and his tongue stuck out of his mouth with a wheeze.

He tapped her hand around his neck three times, and she let go, causing him to collapse onto the floor with a long heave. The girl then bent down and rubbed Ramo’s back. He looked up into her heart-warming smile and takes her hand to stand. All the children clapped, cheered, and whistled, congratulating them on their finished match.

“I had fun. You’re pretty fast. Good job.” The girl complimented.

Ramo nodded with a smile. “I had fun as well, and you’re a great fighter! Let’s spar again sometime!”

The crowd of children moved into the two humble brawlers to pat them on the backs with broad smiles. Yamada nodded as she handed the board back to Rosaline.

“The children can choose two books and a single item every month,” Rosaline informed. “Her preference is always novels and volumes on astrology, cosmology, and space travel. Her item is barbells and punching bags that return to us, torn to shreds.”

“Most of her self-study period is also monitored to be different martial arts and firearms! She reminds me of when I was going through my first BT, ma’am!” Jussila reminisced with a shout.

“She’s a decent fighter. I’ll give her that. But given her unruly personality, sudden drop in performance, and academic defiance, she could be a problem without more data; And I can’t have any hiccups during this presentation. I want her only for visual appeal since her skin pigment hadn’t changed despite her genetic coding like the others. She’s not to fight anyone during the demonstration. Do you understand?”

Both Specialists salute, with Rosaline being laxer than her militant colleague.

“… Ma’am!” They both exclaimed in unison.

Ayuu looked down at his white glass watch blinking on his wrist and tapped it twice. He then scrolled down a set of hologram text and closed it with a swipe.

“She’s here.”
