Ryn woke up right before her alarm clock rang. She blinked her eyes sleepily and turned around, planning to continue her sleep. But the alarm clock interrupted her plan. She shut it off and wanted to sleep, only to remember that she needed to get ready for her breakfast. Harry would come any time to pick her up.
She stretched her arms and stood up. She did a quick exercise, mainly to stretch all her limbs before she went into the bathroom. She was still sleepy but she pushed herself to stay awake.
Last night she went home a bit late. After dinner, Jeremy wanted to bring her to his home but she refused. He tried to coax her out of it but she stayed firm with her decision. Lastly, he only brought her to walk along the river, just enjoying the beautiful scenery. They stopped to enjoy chocolate sundae together. She lost count how many pictures he took of her and them. Even without her concern, he kept taking them. He finally sent her home around midnight.
She changed into her usual 'uniform'; a top and jeans. Her hair was combed into a neat ponytail and covered with another cap. Her face was slathered with moisturizer and sunblock. She was too lazy to put on make-up, only a slid of lip balm to keep her lips from drying.
As she went to check on the weather outside through the balcony, her phone rang. She quickly took it from the nightstand and smiled seeing Harry's name on the screen.
"Hello."
"Hello, Ryn. I'm already downstairs," Harry said cheerfully. He even checked his hair in the mirror just to ensure everything looked perfect. He woke up early today just to prepare himself for the 'date'. He could not wait to meet Ryn and maybe this time her heart would finally accept his love. The painting his aunt gave him to give her was safely at the back and he planned to give it to her after their meeting. He would send her home and even helped her putting the painting on the wall.
"Please wait. I'll be downstairs," she told him and ended the call.
She checked her message and smiled seeing the message sent by Jeremy. What time did he wake up today? He sent it so early as if he did not sleep at all last night.
'Good morning, my love. Rise and shine. I hope you have a sweet dream last night and I hope you're dreaming about me. Love, J.'
Ryn replied quickly with, 'Morning to you, J. What time did you go to sleep and what time did you wake up? Don't skip your rest and remember not to skip your breakfast and lunch. I'm meeting Mei Li this morning.'
Although he did not ask, she just told him her plan of the day. However, she forgot to mention that she was going to have breakfast with Harry. For her, it was an unimportant matter. As long as she had her breakfast, she was happy enough, regardless of whom she had her meal.
All she cared about was her stomach.
"Ryn…" Rebecca's eyes widened seeing her entering the elevator. She glanced at her friend and saw the shocked look on her face. "Urm… hello. Good morning."
"Morning, girls. Breakfast?" Ryn asked even though she preferred not to talk with anyone. Her stomach was growling for food.
"Yes. You're going for breakfast too? Do you want to join us?" Rebecca asked. Maybe they could use the chance for chatting. She had a lot to ask Ryn and could not wait for lunch.
"Urm… yeah," Ryn mumbled, "But I already promised to have breakfast with someone else."
"Then, are we having lunch together today?"
Ryn frowned. The question made her remember she promised Rebecca first. She pursed her lips a bit. What should she do now? Mei Li was waiting for her treat. Err…
Rebecca and her friend looked at Ryn, wondering the reason behind her uncomfortable expression.
"Why don't we have breakfast together? I'll ask my friend," Ryn decided with a nod. She gestured them to follow her to a car waiting outside.
Rebecca and her friend shared a look and quickly followed Ryn. Who was the friend Ryn was supposed to have breakfast with? Was it a popular supermodel?
"Hey, good morning," Harry greeted cheerfully when Ryn opened the door of his car.
"Morning. Harry, is it okay if we have breakfast around here? And can we have breakfast with another two people?" Ryn glanced backwards toward Rebecca and her friend who was standing not far from them.
Harry looked at the way Ryn looked and frowned. Weren't these two girls from her class? He did remember seeing them when he was looking for Ryn a couple of months ago.
"Yeah, sure. We'll go in my car," he said.
Rebecca and her friend were shocked when they finally realized who the person Ryn was supposed to have breakfast with. Wasn't he Harry, the most popular student in the university? And they heard he had become a model. Were their eyes playing with them?
They shared another look and blinked their eyes a few times. They were not dreaming, weren't they?
"Come on in," Ryn told them, pointing at the passenger seats at the back. She took the front seat. She did not notice the excitement in Rebecca and her friend's eyes. She put her backpack on her laps and looked at Harry.
"How is your work lately?" she asked, acting like a good senior as she usually was.
"Quite okay, I guess," he replied and glanced at the back when the two girls finally sitting on it. "Are you two okay?"
"Yes, we are good," Rebecca answered on behalf of the two of them. She grasped the hand of her friend, trying hard not to scream excitedly. They were in Harry's car and Harry was driving them for breakfast. How exciting!
Harry glanced at Ryn but she was focussed on her phone. He tried to steal a look but failed. Her phone was installed with something to make others unable to read the darkened screen. Only the person holding the phone could read it.
Ryn smiled as she read the message from Jeremy. She never expected this boyfriend of hers could be so romantic. It almost sent goosebumps to her whole body. She quickly typed a reply and sent it back to Jeremy.
She read a message from Mika. It was actually a complain. Mika was asking where she has been these few days and why Ryn did not reply to any of her call or message.
Ryn decided to call Mika straight away.
"Hello, my girl," Ryn greeted cheerfully, "Good morning."
"Ryn~"
"I called you yesterday but you didn't answer," Ryn told her.
"Don't remind me about yesterday. Hmph..." Mika pursed her lips sulkily. Jason who was driving the car glanced at her questioningly but did not get the answer. He shrugged and focussed on his driving.
"Anyway, I'm back. So how about dinner at my place?" Ryn suggested. She knew Mika had so many things to talk about and tonight they could spend the time chatting after dinner.
"You are not busy today?" Mika asked.
"I have class this evening," Ryn said.
Ryn was talking about her driving class but the people in the car misunderstood it as a class in the university. Rebecca and her friend frowned. They did not have class today. Or was there a class they were not informed with? They looked at each other silently and both shook their head. No class.
"Do you... want me to send you to the campus after lunch?" Harry asked when Ryn finally ended her conversation with Mika.
"Ah?" Ryn looked at Harry in a puzzle. What did he mean by sending her to the campus?
The two girls at the back looked at them without blinking an eye. Wow, Harry, the most popular guy in the campus offering himself to bring Ryn to the campus. Were Harry and Ryn having a special relationship? How were they so close? They were not in the same class!
"You mentioned about having a class this evening. Why don't I send you to the campus? I do have a game this evening," he said. He had no practice. It was just an excuse. Surely Ryn would not feel weird when going to the campus together with her as they were heading to the same place anyway.
"Actually... I don't have class at the university," Ryn said slowly, frowning a bit.
"Then... you lied to Miss Long?" he knew who she was talking to just now. The only person she showed her chatty and friendly self was Miss Mika Long. He even noticed that Ryn did not speak much when with Mei Li. Only with Mika could he see some interaction and cheerfulness from Ryn.
"No," Ryn shook her head. She did not lie at all. "I have a driving class."
The three of them were shocked to hear that. Ryn was attending a driving lesson?
