It took him almost half an hour to arrive. He could only give them a boyish smile when he arrived, trying to get on their good side so he would not be blamed for this lateness.

"Change the car," the Dowager ordered after clucking her tongue a few times seeing the boyish smile from him. She shook her head in bemused. No matter how old her grandchildren were, they kept acting childish toward their mother and her to get what they wanted. It was adorable but they must not think they could get everything by acting that way.

Jeremy went to kiss his mother's forehead as a greeting before he went to the garage. The elder butler followed behind him to help to get the key for the car.

"How many things do they need to buy?" Jeremy asked as he eyed all the vehicles he could see. He should choose the ones with a huge space to put things, knowing how much his mother would spend.

"I... I am not sure about that, Young Master," the butler said after clearing his throat. He did not dare to look at the list Mrs. Long prepared when the woman did not give him any instruction.

Jeremy did not comment. He looked at the cars and finally chose and land rover. In his mind, how many his mother would buy, she would not buy more than what they could carry. But then again, they could just order the shop to send the items home. There was nothing to be worried about.

He took the key from the butler and started the engine. He drove the land rover out of the garage and stopped at the front of the house, where his mother and grandmother were waiting. The driver quickly opened the door for both women.

"So, ladies, where are we going today?" Jeremy asked once he saw everyone buckled up their seatbelt. Two maids even put a basket of snacks and a hot drink for them to enjoy on the way. For him, they prepared a thermos of coffee.

"To the city," the Dowager said as she looked at her daughter-in-law. "What's the first on our list?"

Mrs. Long took out the list from her handbag. She opened the folded paper carefully and handed it to her mother-in-law.

"We are going straight to the Rainbow jade shop."

"Okay," Jeremy knew the shop his grandmother said. The women always went there to get their jade jewelry. Honestly, he was a bit skeptical when he heard this. Would Ryn's mother like jade?

But what did he knew about preparing gifts for others, especially for his future in-laws? But... wouldn't it be better if they just buy organic grains and vegetables?

He quickly drove to the shop.

*~*~*~*

Ryn took a sip of her coffee and sighed sleepily. She stretched her arms and her back. What time would Mei Li arrive to pick her up?

"Miss, would you like something else?" a waiter came and asked politely. She noticed this woman kept adding coffee but did not eat much except a small bun.

Ryn checked on the time before she looked at the waiter. She was hungry but she did not dare to order a lot just in care Mei Li came suddenly and she had to stop eating.

It was hard to be a model, she thought bitterly.

"No. Thank you," Ryn said finally as she smiled at the waiter.

"Then, would you like a refill?" the waiter asked as she nodded at the cup of coffee.

"Sure. Thank you," Ryn pushed the cup slightly toward the waiter and watched as the waiter went to refill her coffee. She rubbed her growling stomach sadly.

Mei Li, where are you?

Ryn waited a little longer, drinking so many cups of coffee until her stomach bloated with the dark black drink. She sighed and threw her sight of the window, waiting for her manager to come.

It took Mei Li ten minutes before the woman came rushing into the restaurant. She looked around and saw her sulking model.

"Sorry, I'm late," she apologized breathlessly. She did not sleep well last night and overslept. When she woke up, it was already the time she promised Ryn that she would come. Imagine the horror she felt at that time?

"What time is it now?" Ryn asked with a c.o.c.k of an eyebrow. If she knew her manager would be this late, she would have her breakfast without worry. Oh, her poor stomach has to suffer this morning.

Mei Li rubbed her nape sheepishly. It was her fault so she did not argue with the woman. She looked at the table and saw it was empty but a cup and saucer. Err... don't tell her in order for Ryn not to be late, she did not eat anything but drink coffee? Uh oh... what should she do now?

"Err... Ryn, are you ready to go now?" the manager asked meekly. She would agree if Ryn refused to move until she has her breakfast first. Mei Li would take the responsibility to coax the company when they arrive late.

Ryn sighed. Although she was beyond hungry but she hated making others waiting for her. Besides, she persuaded herself, surely the brand would allow her to eat the pudding during filming. Or else, how could she show the estacy of eating those delicious delicacy?

She did not want to pretend eating. She hated to pretend to eat. And she always made sure Mei Li inform all the food and beverage company that little request when they wanted her to work with them.

"Let's go. We cannot let them wait," she said finally. She finished the last gulp of coffee before stood up.

Mei Li quickly followed her as she went out of the restaurant.

Mei Li led the way to the car. Ryn watched as her manager thrust the key into the keyhole.

"Calm down. We won't be late," Ryn said. She leaned to rummage the storage in front of her before she took out a scrunchie. "Tie your hair. Take a deep breath."

Mei Li did what she was told. She gathered her curls and tied them into a rather messy ponytail. She looked in the mirror and sighed unhappily. Why when Ryn did her hair in a messy ponytail, she looked gorgeous but when she did the same, it looked, well, messy.

God really treated them with biased eyes.

Sigh.

"Are you feeling better now?" Ryn c.o.c.ked her head to her right side and asked.

"Hmm... Let's go," Mei Li started the engine and changed the gear. No more time to waste.

Ryn threw her sight out of the window and did not utter a word. Her mind kept repeating the words she had with her mother earlier.

"Mother..."

"Maybe I cannot truly understand what you feel because your father and I never face this kind of argument but honey, ask yourself this," her mother said finally after being silence for several minutes. She told her mother what happened and asked for her mother's opinion.

"What, mother?" Ryn asked slowly as she brushed the tears from her face.

"Do you love him?" Her mother asked.

Ryn's mouth opened to answer but she did not know how... what kind of answer to give to this seemingly simple question. Her eyes stared at the wall, blinking.

"I know that he can be quite pushy and very-very annoying but..." her mother was not blind to Jeremy's bad attitude but everything was based on Ryn. She did not want to force her daughter and wanted her to decide her own life.

"But he expected me to allow him to control me," Ryn cried unhappily. She hated when he decided to dictate what she should and shouldn't do. She has her own mind!

"Do you think he can change that?" Her mother asked.

Ryn closed her mouth. Could he change? Would he change?

"If you think he can change for the better, for the sake of both of you, give him another chance. Perhaps he will learn to be more... lenient and less forceful."

"But..."

"But if you think he won't do it, even for the sake of your future, then, make a clean break. Don't torture yourself and him when you yourself don't think it will work."

Ryn pursed her lips.

"Love is a beautiful thing, my dear, but people are the ones who make it difficult."

Ryn sighed. It actually made her miss the young Jeremy when they first started their relationship. It was so pure that she imagined it would be this one until death do them apart.

She wished Jeremy would stay like he used to. She hated the present Jeremy who was short tempered and expected her to obey his every word.

She really missed him.

"Take your time to decide but not too long. Everyone knows your relationship with him so..." her mother's words trailed off, giving Ryn a hint.

Ryn sighed heavily. She understood what her mother meant. It no longer involved only her and Jeremy bit Jeremy's family too.

And this decision not only impact her and Jeremy but their family.

Sigh...
