Ryn stared down at her laps, where her hands were gripped tight. She tried not to feel regret. He did not argue when she uttered the words. He simply drove the car after she told him the name of the hotel. Of course, she caught him c.o.c.king an eyebrow after he heard the hotel's name.

She was fretting inside but too frustrated to even utter a word. She glanced around and saw the time at the small clock. It was already late. No wonder there was not much cars on the road.

Then, she lowered her eyes back and stared at her hands.

He was aware of her actions. He did not say anything but pursed his lips thoughtfully. He knew that tomorrow his family would go to Ryn's parents' place to meet 'officially'. His grandmother would lead the group. Of course, he and Mika were not included as they were still considered 'too green' in their grandmother's eyes.

Soon enough they reached at the entrance of the hotel. To her astonishment, he shut the engine off and threw the key to one of the valets yawning at his station. He also went to Ryn's side and opened the door.

"I'm sending you to your room," he announced before she could say something.

Her lips twitched but she did not argue. He offered his hand to help her getting out of the car.

To his not surprised mind, she refused his hand. She used the excuse of clutching the jacket closer to her body to avoid his touch. But he did not mind at all. It was his coat after all, so in a sense, he was hugging her.

Of course he did not mind.

She entered the hotel with the handsome man behind her smiling so wickedly, it almost made those women who were still at the lobby and even at the counter stared without blink.

That... that's Jeremy!

Jeremy did not care how others were staring at him. His focus was on those men. He wanted to see whether his Ryn was safe here. At first he was relieved seeing that even some men were looking at her, their eyes were filled with just a slight interest but no l.u.s.t. When they saw him, he gave them a warning look and every one of them quickly looked away, pretending they saw nothing.

However, his good mood was ruined when he noticed two men were eyeing his Ryn. These two men did not even look at him. Their eyes, full with l.u.s.t, followed behind Ryn and when Ryn and Jeremy were almost reaching the elevator, the two men stood up and walked slowly, leisurely toward the same elevator.

Jeremy quickly adjusted his standing, blocking the two men from getting closer to Ryn. Didn't these two see him? It was obvious he was with Ryn so why would they still dare to follow her?

Ryn noticed the two men entering the same elevator as her and Jeremy but she did not think much. She pressed the button of her floor and leaned her back against the wall. She closed her eyes without worry. Jeremy was here and he would not let anything happen to her. This unconditional trust in him was still thick in her heart despite of her frustration toward his stubbornness.

The men were staring at Jeremy now, anger boiling in their blood when they saw how close he was toward their prey. They thought the man just came in alone, not with the woman so they just ignored him. Even when he stepped forward to block them from getting closer to her, they thought nothing about it.

In order to get them out of this shame, one of them pressed a button randomly, acting like they were heading somewhere else, when they already planned to follow her into her room. They thought they could force themselves into her room and once they fed her the drug, she would let them do whatever they wanted. Hence, even though it was getting late, they kept waiting at the lobby for her return. They had no doubt she would return tonight seeing that she only wore a dress with no bag at all when she left earlier.

When the door was opened, Jeremy scooped Ryn up and carried her like a groom carrying his bride over the threshold out of the elevator, leaving those two men staring angrily at him. Unexpectedly their plan failed.

Over to Jeremy and Ryn...

Once the door of the elevator closed, Jeremy carefully put Ryn down. He forgot that he still did not know which room was Ryn's. He let her leaned against his body with one arm holding her. Another hand touched her face, gently caressing her cheek.

"Love, your room?" he asked gently. He held himself from kissing her soft white cheek. The powder she put earlier already wore off, revealing her real skin.

Her brows wrinkled a bit but it did not stop her from drowsily standing up. She was half asleep and the familiar warmth beside her gave so much protection, she felt safe.

"Love?"

Without even thinking, the number of the room was mumbled by her. She even handed her phone to him, murmuring 'key'.

He understood what she meant. Then, he scooped her up again and walked to the room with the number she just said. He could not help from frowning seeing how close the doors were, indicating the room she was staying was not big. Shaking his head, he used the phone's back to flash at the lock to unlock the door. A beep later and the door was able to be opened.

He used one hand to open it but at the same time still holding Ryn. It was not easy but he managed to do it without waking her again. He did not lock it, just closed it first. He would lock it once he put her to the bed.

He walked slowly toward the bed. His frown deepened seeing how short the journey was from the door to the bed. She should stay in a bigger room. Bigger and more comfortable!

He put her on the bed carefully. He looked at her face, at the worn out make-up face of hers. The only left was the mascara. The lipsticks were long gone. He pursed his lips and shrugged it off. He did not think it was important for her to wake up just to wash her face. Besides, there was barely a makeup on her face by now. He adjusted the pillow underneath her head and even pulled the blanket.

He returned back to the door and locked the door. Seeing how she was alone and remembering the look of those two men, he made up his mind not to return home. He would spend the night here. He adjusted the temperature and went into the bathroom for a quick shower. As he did not bring clothes to change, he only wore the bathrobe provided by the hotel.

He looked around and saw a sofa. A frown appeared back on his face. Of course he would rather be sleeping on the bed with her in his arms but he did not think he could hold himself from trying to make love with her for the rest of the night. It would also make her angrier at him when he was trying to coax her to return. Making up his mind, he opened the cabinet and found an extra pillow and blanket. Sighing in relieved, he took both and walked to the sofa. It would be his bed tonight and he knew it would not be a comfortable night for him. It could not even hold his height.

"Good night, my love."

The next day...

It was not that early when she finally stirred to the real world. She groaned as she held her head. The hungover hit her hard even though she only had two glasses of red wine last night? Usually she was not this pathetic but she guessed her emotional stress made it easier for her to get drunk this easily. Without thinking, her hands reached around for the blanket and pulled it to cover her head.

He was already up and just got out from the bathroom when he saw her action. He could not help from chuckling as he shook his head. How could she be so cute this morning?

But his amus.e.m.e.nt was interrupted by a call. Frowning, he looked at his ringing phone and wanted to reject it. But when he saw the name appeared on the screen, he changed his mind.

"Hello?"

"Hello, boss. Sorry to interrupt," it was Jacob, his personal assistant.

Jeremy looked at Ryn and went back into the bathroom. He did not want to interrupt Ryn's sweet dream. He locked the door.

"Speak."

"Boss, you have two meetings today," Jacob asked, almost begging his boss to come. He did not know how to reschedule the meeting anymore. The other persons were getting pissed when the meetings kept being postponed and even threatened to look for another partner. If all the companies decided to do so, their company would end up being ruined!

"I'm coming," Jeremy said after a few minutes. He knew what was worrying Jacob.

"I'll set it, sir," Jacob could not hide his relieved and said happily.

Jeremy sighed and ended the call. Then, he stared at the mirror, thinking how to coax Ryn to forgive him. He did not want to lose her. And it seemed like he could not expect her to easily agree to give another chance to him. Last night opened up his eyes. The anguish, frustration, anger and sadness she bottled up were revealed and it made him thinking the whole night. Was it really his fault?

What did he really want in their relationship?

When he got out, Ryn was already up, staring drowsily at the white wall with the blanket still covering her. When she saw him, her eyes widened. Then, without thinking, she looked at herself, checking whether she was n.a.k.e.d. But, she found herself still wearing the last night's dress.

"I slept on the sofa," he explained, not wanting to see her so worried.

"Can we have breakfast together? I have to go to the office after this," he asked.

She closed her eyes and sighed in relief. Nothing happened last night.

"Love?"

"Give me five minutes," she said finally and pushed herself to stand.
