Mei Li was talking on the phone when Ryn knocked on the window. She turned to look at the model standing outside the car and used one hand to unlock the door.
Ryn did not greet nor ask who was online. She just c.o.c.ked an eyebrow but quickly made herself comfortable and pulled the safety belt.
It took almost ten minutes before Mei Li said goodbye to the other person with a reminder for the model to sleep early for tomorrow's work.
"Liza?" Ryn asked as she took out her phone to check.
"Hmm..." Mei Li switched the gear to move the car. Liza was one of the models under her wings and she needed to ask the model about her work's progress today. She could not accompany Liza because Ryn still did not have a car and luckily Liza could drive and own a cute little green car to bring her everywhere. Mei Li needed to bring Ryn back to her place to get her luggage and then send her to the airport for her flight.
"Do we have enough time for a meal?" Ryn asked as she checked her messages. It was full of reminders from Mika not to forget about their flight. She pursed her lips and quickly typed that she just finished her work and on the way to her place to grab her luggage. She also replied to a message from Jeremy who asked her about her work today. She only replied with an 'ok'. She kept her phone and looked at Mei Li hopingly.
Mei Li checked the time and frowned. The show ended later than they expected so the time was rushing and they needed to hurry. She let out a heavy sigh.
"I'm hungry," Ryn murmured sadly, rubbing her stomach.
"Why don't you eat at the airport?" Mei Li suggested carefully.
"Too expensive," Ryn complained. Although she could afford the price, she hated paying things that she could pay lesser in another place.
Mei Li sighed heavily. She forgot that Ryn was very frugal despite being popular and have a lot of money in her bank. That was why she did not even apply for a loan to buy her house and the renovation was paid gradually according to how much it had completed.
"I'm sorry, Ryn. We really cannot stop anywhere or you'll be late," she said.
Ryn grumbled under her breath. She was starving. At least, couldn't they stop to get a burger or three on the way to the airport?
Mei Li ignored the grumble as she drove the car toward Ryn's place.
"I'm starving," Ryn said again after she pulled her luggage into the lift with Mei Li following behind her.
"We have no time to stop," the manager replied ruthlessly. She knew what Ryn had in mind and in order to finish the order, it would take a longer time for the fast-food restaurant to do it. She knew Ryn too well that this model would not order a normal amount of burgers but double or triple it.
Ryn crossed her arms and sulked. How could this manager of hers so heartless?
Ignoring the sulking model, Mei Li walked to her car once the door of the lift opened. She pulled the luggage. This time, Ryn did not just bring her backpack but also a trolley bag. Knowing Mika's favorite pastime, it was important to bring enough bags to keep all the souvenirs that Mika would buy there.
Ryn sat on her seat and sulked silently. She had no mood to do anything. Her mood was getting worst and her stomach was growling with hunger.
"You just eat at the airport, okay?" Mei Li said as she took her seat on the driver's side and slid the key to its place. She started the engine.
"I'm hungry," Ryn muttered.
Mei Li sighed heavily. The one thing she hated the most was handling Ryn when she was starving and they could not stop to get her anything to eat. Ryn would get so cranky and anything or everything could trigger her displeasure.
"Give me some times to drive," Mei Li said as she quickly drove the car out of the bas.e.m.e.nt to the exit and joined the other cars in the main road. Her hands gripped the steering tightly as her eyes scanned the road carefully. She knew she had to go to the limit so they could reach faster and at the same time safety came first.
Ryn shut her mouth. Mei Li refused to follow her instruction and she could do nothing about it. She was not the driver although she already owned a driver's license. Sigh. She really needed to squeeze in some time to buy a car.
Mika was chatting with Jason when she saw Ryn walked listlessly toward them. She frowned when she saw how weak Ryn looked right now. She quickly ran to Ryn worriedly.
"Ryn, are you okay? You're not sick, are you?" She asked worriedly.
Ryn looked down on her stomach sadly. She was starving.
"I think, love, she is hungry," Jason said with a twinkle in his eyes and curls on his lips. He was enjoying this pitiful look on Ryn. She looked like a kid right now, a hungry kid.
Mika pulled back from her embrace and looked at Ryn's stomach with widened eyes.
"How could Mei Li starve you?" she gasped.
"The show ended late. We didn't have time to stop at any shop for food," although Ryn was unhappy with Mei Li, she still protected her manager fiercely. This loyalty was what made Mika dan Jeremy liked her so much.
"Let's go and eat," Mika said as she pulled her best friend toward a door. It was a VIP waiting room. Even though they would be using the company's flight to fly, they still needed to wait to process their doc.u.ments as well as wait for Ryn to arrive. How could they leave with the bridesmaid?
"That puny little food," Ryn grumbled under her breath. She was brought into the VIP waiting room several times by the siblings but her impression about the food provided there was low. It was not enough to fill her stomach as she did not want to embarrass the siblings by emptying everything. She still knew how to control herself and not to make others look down on her and the siblings by acting like a poor girl who has been starving for months. She still knew how to behave, okay?
Mei Li should just make a detour at any restaurant or small stall to get something for her to eat rather than sending her straight here, she grumbled silently.
Just as they reached the door, Mika stopped. Everyone stopped too and looked at her weirdly.
"Give your passport and luggage to Jason," Mika told Ryn.
Without another word, Ryn handed her passport to Jason. She watched as the man, without even a complaint coming from his smiling face, took over pushing the trolley toward the opposite side.
When they finally entered the waiting room, instead of heading to the comfortable cushy chair, Mika brought Ryn toward the buffet. Of course, knowing her best friend's appetite, this food could not cover the whole small stomach of hers but at least it could make Ryn felt slightly better.
"I'll take some food for you too," Mika said. She was under a strict diet for her preparation for the wedding but she could always help Ryn by pretending to be one of the hungry people. At least they could take double portions.
With a heavy sigh, Ryn reached for a bowl and started to fill it with the ingredients for the noodle, all minus the vegetables. Mika, smiling, started to take a plate and fill it with various food, all were Ryn's favorite food. She steered away from vegetables, not wanting to make Ryn angry.
They found a table and sat there. Instead of waiting for Jason, Mika told Ryn cheerfully to eat her meal. Jason would take time to finish everything but Ryn was too hungry to wait. It was better to eat while waiting for him. Once they were done, they could start their journey... officially.
When Jason joined back the girls, he was amused to see one of them were looking down at the bowl as her hand non-stop pulling the noodle from the bowl into her mouth while another girl was chatting happily. He shook his head and leaned to kiss the top of the head of his fiancee. This scenery of her being so happy made him happy. He liked seeing the love of his life happy and he would do anything to keep her happy like this.
"You're here. Is it done?" Mika asked as she greeted Jason with a kiss.
"Hmm..." Jason took a seat beside her and casually wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "We'll wait for Ryn to finish her meal and then we can go."
"You are the best," Mika praised him with adoring eyes. She knew her love could do anything that she asked for and it made her love toward him deepen each and every single day. How could she be so lucky to have him in her life?
Jason grinned and dipped his head for another kiss, ignoring the huge lightbulb in the same table as theirs.
The lightbulb ignored the couple and focused on eating her food. She was used to their behavior so nothing was to be embarrassed about.
The trio finally walked steadily toward the small flight. Mika and Jason were walking hand in hand while Ryn was walking behind them. Of course, at first, Mika wanted to hold hand with Ryn but Jason did not feel like he wanted to be separated from his fiancee and insisted to hold her soft and tender hand. And Mika, happily receiving the love from him, could not bear to disagree with his wish. Jason let Mika climbing up the stairs first and followed closely behind and Ryn as the lightbulb took her stance behind them with nary a word.
After eating of course she would feel sleepy and all she could think of was getting into the flight quickly so she could sleep. But of course, the couple in front of her was deep in their own world and took time walking into the flight. If she followed her heart now, she would push them to walk faster but she was too lazy to speak.
Mika, as the first person climbing into the flight, was at first happy and giggle all the way but once she walked into the flight, where rows of chairs were fully displayed, her movement froze. Jason and Ryn who were not ready for the sudden stop almost hit each other. They gave Mika a puzzled look.
"What... What are you doing here?" Mika cried in horror.
