Jeremy rubbed her back in order to calm her down. Then, he handed the key to her.

"Why don't you try it?" he asked. He was trying to give her some space and by being in the car, no one could hear what they would talk about.

He took the seat beside her as she started the engine. He smiled at everyone who was still watching them with a beaming smile.

"If you don't like it, I'll buy you a new one. The exact brand and colour," he said.

She sighed as she pulled the safety belt, "They will feel hurt. Your mother. Your grandmother..."

"Grandmother would not know once she leaves. Mother... I will explain to her," he reassured her. Nothing was wrong with the modification but if only they asked for Ryn's permission first then they would not face this kind of awkwardness and headache.

"Don't worry about me. I need a day to chew over this. Tomorrow... I believe tomorrow I can accept all this," she replied slowly. What else could she do but to suck it up and just accept whatever just happened to her beloved car? They meant well and they did all these for her safety. She understood that but to be present like this without any warning, her heart was still unable to accept it.

For now, all she needed was time.

He patted her hand again before he got up and urged the helpers to get back to their work. He then went to his family and told them she was trying all the new functions in the car. Mr Long, once he heard that, suggested for his mother and wife to rest in the house.

"Will she leave now?" Mrs Long asked. She was hoping for Ryn to stay for a while so they could chat. She was still trying to get used to her daughter having become someone else's wife and daughter-in-law and was hoping dear Ryn could make her feel better.

Jeremy knocked on the window of the driver's side and Ryn automatically lowered the window.

"Are you leaving now or will stay for lunch?" he asked. Behind him, Mrs Long was giving her puppy-eyed look.

"I'll stay," she said with a sigh. She knew the kitchen was busy preparing lunch and even included her share in it. And by staying for lunch, it would show that there was no hurt feeling between them. She, of course, would not show any unhappiness with them. Yes, she would show her feeling to Jeremy and that was that. But, in front of the others, she would rather put on the mask she always has and let them think she was happy.

He helped her while she was getting out of the car. He watched as she looked at her car with a small frown and then nodded toward the house. "Let's go."

The elder couple and the Dowager already walked into the mansion once they confirmed that she would stay. The Dowager asked for a glass of water, feeling thirsty after standing so long. A maid quickly fanned her to help cool her down despite the air-conditioner blasting all around the mansion.

"You've worked hard," he whispered right before they entered the building.

"What do you mean?" she asked with a frown. He suddenly praised her when she did nothing at all today.

"For be patient with them," he explained, "I knew you're hurt with the way they're handling this. Thank you."

"It's nothing. As I said, by tomorrow I won't think much about this," she whispered back.

He rubbed her back as encouragement before leading her to the others. They again took their seat on the couch while waiting for lunch to be prepared. The maid already brought a tray of cold drinks and some cookies for them to snack on while chatting.

This time around, Jeremy made sure Ryn was sitting beside him in the duo seats. He did not want his mother to conquer her all the time. He did not want to miss any chance to spend time with her because once he was on the road if she refused to follow, he would not be able to see her for quite some time.

Mrs Long was unhappy but she was soothed almost immediately when her husband sat beside her and held her hand intimately. She rested her hand on his shoulder and sighed.

"So, when will you get back to work?" Mr Long asked the younger woman. He knew the plan of her doing her practical at either the company. He did not know, though, which company would she be at because neither Jeremy nor Mika told him anything.

"So far I don't have any plan yet. I need to check with Mei Li," Ryn answered rather carefully. The sudden question made her suspicious that the older man has something in his mind.

"So, where are you going to do your practical, dear?" Mrs Long asked.

Ryn automatically looked at Jeremy. It seemed like the topic has changed to her training. She was hoping Jeremy could answer it for her.

"Right now she has three options," Jeremy replied.

"Three?" Ryn frowned. She knew only two. It would be either working with Mika or at the main company with Jeremy. But then again, she would not be working with him because he would be busy during the tour. It would take him longer before he returned to the company and by then, her training was already over.

"One, she can work at the company with Mika. The second option, she can work at the main company and help Jacob. The last one, she can work with me during the tour," Jeremy explained.

"The tour?" three pairs of eyes looked at Jeremy in shock while the Dowager just snorted at the suggestion. Trust her grandson to find a way to keep Catherine close to him all the time. She was not surprised at all. If Jeremy did not suggest it then she would find something wrong in her grandson's brain. Their Long family, no one could suggest that they were not brave enough to get what they wanted. If Ryn that Jeremy wanted, he should do anything and everything to make her his.

"Well... I will be very busy during the tour and I need someone to help me manage some works from the company. I don't think father will let me off, right, father?" Jeremy gave a look at his father.

"But... won't you be quite busy during the tour to still..." Ryn was speechless. She looked at Mr Long who was sort of blamed for not giving his son time off from work during his tour.

"I agree," Mrs Long said suddenly.

"What do you agree?" Mr Long asked his wife. He did not remember any question that required that kind of answer.

"Dear Ryn should help Jeremy during the tour. She will learn a lot when she follows him," Mrs Long explained. She looked at her husband with stars in her eyes. Couldn't her husband understand how this can be the perfect chance for their son to win Ryn's heart fully? Although dear Ryn already accepted their son as her boyfriend, Mrs Long felt there was still awkwardness between the youngsters and wished something would happen that could make Ryn truly accept Jeremy and then join their happy family. The sooner was better.

"But... but what can I do... to help?" Ryn was puzzled by the sudden suggestion. She knew what happened during the tour because he had several tours before with his group before they broke up. Although she could not follow along because he refused to let her, she knew how tiring every day was and when he returned, he would be so exhausted, he would sleep for so long and even skipped meals just to rest.

"You will help to maintain the schedule. If I need to attend any meeting, you will help to make sure I don't miss anything. And to answer the emails. You also need to take note if I don't have enough time to read the emails. Just the gist is fine so I can understand. The proposals too. Sometimes Jacob did not notice it so it's up to you to check them thoroughly. And many more. If you think about you, you're actually becoming my personal ȧssistant. Jacob will always contact you if anything happens," Jeremy shrugged. He decided there and then to make her agree to follow him on the tour and if it meant she would actually get involved with all those projects despite being so new in the industry, he did not mind teaching her on the spot.

"That... that is quite a lot," Mrs Long gasped. She thought Ryn would be in charge of something... less serious. By asking her to manage the emails and the proposals without any background of the projects, could the dear do it? Won't it give her stress?

"But... I don't think my training will end at the same time as the tour," Ryn pointed out with a frown.

"Then, I'll pay you more until the tour ends," Jeremy shrugged. "I really need an ȧssistant to help me. I can't bring Jacob because he needs to stay in the company."

Ryn pursed her lips.. This suggestion was too sudden for her to decide. "Can you give me time to think this over?"
