The old man looked at Braedon with a strange look on his face. "You are a strange man." Braedon gave off a smile and shrugged.
The old man's name was Yi Bai. He didn't reveal his background but considering his granddaughter's, Yi Ling, cultivation level, it didn't seem so simple.
Braedon realized that he was being sort of a rude host and asked if he wanted anything to eat or drink. Yi Bai smiled and just asked for some water. He took in a deep breath. "Thank you." Yi Bai did not know how else to express how much thanks he had in him. He made a silent promise to bring back some treasures or pills once he returned to his home.
Braedon smiled and placed out his hand, "My name is Braedon, and I am glad I was able to help." Yi Bai gave off a smile and shook his hand.
A few seconds later another person entered the room. Yi Ling looked around at the two people talking to one another. She unsteadily walked up and stood next to her grandpa. Yi Bai stood up and held her shoulders steady, "Are you okay?"
Yi Ling nodded and turned to look at Braedon. She stared at him and said nothing. Braedon could've sworn he saw a bit of distrust in her eyes. Braedon just nodded and said, "Hi, my name is Braedon. I'm glad that you are okay."
She nodded, "I am Yi Ling. If you don't mind me asking, who are you and when ca we leave? I would like to avoid staying here any longer."
This might've seemed a bit cold to most people but she had her reasons. When she was young, some of her own family members attempted to kill her due to her position. Her parents were the head of their organization and after their deaths, she was the next successor.
Her experience from young to now made it incredibly difficult for her to trust anyone but her grandfather. This was something Yi Bai worries about since after all of these years, Yi Ling has only made one friend.
"Yi Ling! He is our benefactor. Do not be so rude to him." Yi Bai understood her personality but he still worried about Braedon's own background. Although he said that he obtain the pill through luck, Yi Bai couldn't tell if he was being truthful or not.
Yi Ling listened to her grandfather and quickly gave an apology, "I am sorry for being so rude before." Although she said this, Yi Bai could still sense some hostility from her.
Braedon could also feel the hostility and thought of a way to allow her to relax. "I promise I don't mean you any harm. Even if I did, I wouldn't be able to do anything. After all I just started on the path of cultivation."
Both Yi Bai and Yi Ling looked at him surprised since at that moment he started to release his aura and his realm could easily be read. Yi Bai was surprised by how trusting he was, "Doesn't he know that what he is doing is equivalent to revealing all of his trump cards?"
Yi Ling in the other hand was more surprised by a different reason. "You're only at the first realm second stage?" Braedon nodded and Yi Long asked a second question, "Aren't you a bit too weak?"
Braedon face froze while Yi Bai shook his head sadly because of how honest his granddaughter was. Yi Bai also found it strange, considering that Braedon was quite old. Even the world's worst talent could probably achieve the peak of the first realm after over a decade of practice.
Just how talentless did someone have to be to only be at the first realm, second stage at around eighteen years old.
Braedon had tears streaming down his face, this wasn't his fault! "It can't be helped, since I have only been cultivating less than a week." Braedon covered his face from embarrassment but if he didn't, he could've noticed that Yi Bai and Yi Ling were looking at him like he was a freak.

Braedon didn't understand the normal speed of cultivation for most people. It took even the greatest genius at least a month and a half to go from being a mortal to the second stage of the first realm. But this freak of nature looked embarrassed to have done it in less than a week!
What they didn't know was that his speed wasn't actually that great. Glode's dance was made to grant quick advancements in the shortest amount of time. It was made as more of a foundational technique for older people than traditional techniques. Only drawback was that the user needed to spend more time on his foundation for the first realm than most people.
Now that the dance had become useless, Braedon's practice speed would be drastically reduced. After calming themselves down, they thought about it and they figured out that some special circumstances probably had something to do with his achievements.
Yi Bai gave off a smile and gave Braedon some advice, "Take your time when cultivating, quick advancements will mean nothing if you don't have a stable foundation." Braedon thanked him and assured him that he will be careful.
Braedon eventually explained s small part of his situation. He told them that by chance, he disocvered that cultivation was a real thing a few days ago and started practicing from there. Once Braedon talked about his experiences, he noticed something interesting. Despite a few misunderstandings, his path has been quite smooth.
Luck has been on his side for the last few days and it felt as if everything was just going his way.
At that exact moment his front door was blasted open. An explosion rang out and from the smoke and debris, three figures walked out with their face covered by a mask.
The three people looked over at Braedon and the others. They stared them down and Braedon could see one of them grinning through his cloth mask.
"We have found you."
Braedon looked over at Yi Bai and Yi Ling. "Friends of yours?" They both shooked their heads and the three strange men pulled out knives and blades from their clothing.
"They are assassins. They probably came from someone in our family who is next in line to lead after I am gone." Yi Ling said.
Braedon nodded and looked at the assassins walking closer to them, "So now what do we do?"
