He then continued walking to a nearby oak-like tree. Using his wind power, he gathered a few green fallen leaves and formed a bed underneath the tree, where he then lay down upon.

Juin looked at him for a few seconds before looking back at Cecile. He placed two fingers on the side of her neck, and once he was sure that her pulse was normal, he sighed in relief.

"Not only are they grey, but they are actually rotting…" Lucifer continued their conversation from earlier. "When we first arrived, they were bright purple, but the longer we stayed, the darker they became, until they turned completely grey, like what you see now. Oddly enough, the wound on Cecile's c.h.e.s.t quickly knitted together. Those boys fed her some medicines, which I think helped a little. Otherwise, I think the purple flowers that are scattered all over the island are actually the ones responsible for this."

"You are saying that those flowers have healing ability…" Juin said as he looked at the pile of grey flowers. "That's kind of extraordinary…"

"Not just that…" Lucifer said. "Those flowers might not be dangerous to you guys."

"Why do you say so?"

"Because you have been laying down on one of them and you are still alive and well."

"What?" Hearing that, Juin immediately jumped up and tried to look all over his body. After shaking around a little, a small purple flower fell out from inside his shirt. "When did it get inside?" he murmured as he looked at the innocent-looking bright flower. "And why didn't you tell me about it?"

Lucifer shrugged. "Experiment. It got in when you fainted. Anyway, I think these flowers are smart… In a sense that they are some sort of weapons."

Juin thought for a moment before saying, "Cecile was the descendant of Atlas, an ancient person from this island… You are saying that these flowers are engineered to be 'smart' enough to recognize the descendants of the natives?"

Lucifer folded his arms and nodded. "Those violet markings of theirs are not for shows. These flowers protect those with the violet markings and harm those without."

"What about us? Me?"

"My guess is that, it's harmless to you guys because you guys aren't Atlanteans. Think of it this way. These flowers will only attack or defend those with the right types of markings, and anyone without the markings will only --"

"Confuse them…" Juin finished it for Lucifer. He stared at the flower that fell out of him and picked it up gingerly. Looking at it, he mumbled, "A very interesting protective mechanism. Attack those with markings, protect the violets, and neutral to everyone else..."

Thinking of something, he then asked, "You know… There's something that's been bugging me since we arrived."

"What?"

"This island seems to have been badly burned at one point…"

"Yeah?"

Juin glanced at Lucifer and said, "But the natives were Atlanteans who could use the power of water…"

Lucifer understood what he meant by then. "You're right. Someone else was involved in the massacre."

A normal fire could be stopped by these Atlanteans easily… But it would be hard to extinguish flames like Soul Flames or any unnaturally occurring flames.

SCREEECCH!

A series of bird chirpings and hooting stopped Juin from speaking temporarily. After those noises were gone, he looked at Lucifer.

"And whoever that was, he wasn't an Atlantean," Juin finished with a gloomy expression. He suddenly became more alert than ever as his eyes scanned around the darkness. "A flame user, most likely a foreign visitor…"

"He's not here now," Lucifer said. "If he's here, I would have sensed it."

"What if he could be here and out in a matter of seconds?" Juin asked. "Cyrus and Wolfe didn't sense anything earlier, nor did they mention catching any scents. So, whoever this visitor was, he has probably been away for some time."

Lucifer raised a brow. "You are saying that Warrick was right, that there's a portal here."

"Yeah… And this person knows about it," Solemnly, he then added, "We need to leave quickly, before whoever that is comes back."

"Wouldn't he be too old by now?"

"That is if we assume he's human or a partial human," Juin said after a brief moment of silence. "But if he's your type…"

"He would still be in his prime." Lucifer nodded, agreeing with his vessel. Whoever that was that orc.h.e.s.trated the massacre of an entire clan would be hard to deal with. It would be best if they were to leave immediately before that person, if he was indeed away in a different world, came back.

Juin looked at the unconscious Cecile with a worried gaze before saying, "We will leave at the crack of dawn."

Juin wasn't kidding. The moment the sun barely showed up, even though it was still quite dark, he woke everyone up. The only person that he could not rouse up was Cecile, but that was understandable given how badly injured she seemed to be previously.

Even though the rest of the group was a little annoyed, after listening to his speculation, they agreed that it would be best for them to leave quickly.

"How's Cecile?" Juin asked while he kept running ahead, occasionally looking back at Wolfe, who was carrying Cecile. "Awake yet?"

Now that they knew those purple flowers wouldn't harm them, the foreign humans, or Cecile, the descendant of Atlas, they were able to move faster than ever. Or at least, Wolfe and Cyrus should be able to move much faster.

"Still sleeping!" Wolfe replied before yawning as he followed behind them sluggishly. The loud chirpings and hooting at night made it hard for him to sleep well. Even Cyrus, who was usually super hyper, trailed behind everyone else while dragging his foot moodily.

Suddenly, the smallest of the group stopped in his tracks and called out, "Wait!"

The boys immediately stopped and turned back to look at him with a curious expression. Cyrus was looking in one direction with his ears up.

Wolfe suddenly looked in that direction as well, and he nodded. "It's there! I heard it too."

"The waterfall?" Juin asked.

Wolfe nodded. "That should be about 300m away."

They then moved in that direction, but Luca could not help but ask, "Are you guys sure? I can't hear anything. It's a waterfall, we should be able to hear something by now."

"I'm sure!" Wolfe said with a serious tone. "It's not as loud as what I would expect from a waterfall, but it's similar."

When they finally arrived at the destination, they realized why the sound was so soft. Surrounding the waterfall were trees with trunks so thick that the boys had trouble passing through them, and the branches, as well as the leaves, were so overgrown that the sun could barely reach the ground.

The green and purplish moss that grew all over the trunks and branches was one of the reasons why they could not hear the typical noise generated by the waterfall even though they were only a few hundred meters away.

The main reason, however, was the waterfall itself.

The boys weren't even sure if they could call it a waterfall.

After all, the amount of water flowing was kind of pathetic. There was only one thin stream of water flowing, and the cliff that the waterfall was falling from was covered in some sort of green and purplish dangling moss.
