"..." Juin cleared his throat before saying politely, "Miss Little Goddess, please allow us to take Cecile back with us. We don't think that she would be safe here."

The woman sighed and glanced at Cecile briefly before asking, "What happened to her?"

Juin quickly summarized everything he knew to her. He then added, "When we found her, she was already in this state."

"While I didn't know what happened previously until you told me," Little Goddess nodded and said, "I know who brought her here."

"Who?"

"A woman with bright blue hair…"

There was a moment of silence as Juin blinked at her a couple of times. "Err… They all have bright blue hair."

"Oh…" Little Goddess thought for a while. "She couldn't get onto the island herself, so she used her power to drop this girl on the island. It's a little squiggly creature with tentacles."

"Tentacles? Octopus!" Juin gasped, "Dr. Adelie!"

It must have been the kind doctor. She seemed to be sorry for Cecile's experience. She must have stumbled upon Cecile somewhere and brought her here!

Little Goddess shrugged and continued, "And when she dropped the girl here, this little one didn't have a heart."

"What?" Cyrus and Juin gasped.

"Have you noticed the peculiarities of the flowers around?" Little Goddess asked.

"Yeah," Juin said. "They have healing ability."

Little Goddess waved a hand, and a violet flower appeared on her hand. "When I first arrived here… Well, the owner of my soul anyway. She made a pact with the leader of this island. The flowers would protect them and they would always protect their descendants from the natives of this world."

"Wait…" Juin frowned. "Are you saying that the natives of this island weren't the natives of this world?"

Little Goddess smiled. "That's right. The natives of this island actually originated from your world. That's why you came here, right? To use the portal here."

"The portal is really a portal to Earth?"

Little Goddess nodded. "The most stable portal to Earth is here. This portal has been here for almost as long as the world itself, and there's no way that dumb kid Atlas could succeed in closing it. He knew it as well."

She waved a hand, and a bright light suddenly appeared deep within the cave.

It was the portal that they were looking for.

"Earth wasn't really a good place for people who were different back then, and a group of them came through the portal seeking a better life. They eventually settled down here, as with the rest who came after them. At least that was what I was told."

"Is that why the descendants of the islanders have the ability to use dual powers, unlike the rest of the Atlanteans?"

Little Goddess gave him a thumbs-up. "That's right."

"But why can't Cecile leave? Why didn't you let them escape to Earth when those Atlanteans came after the islanders?"

"Because that was what their ancestors decided. They came here after suffering from prejudices from their own people, and they couldn't move past their fear that their descendants would be treated the same way," the Little Goddess said as she paced around again. With every step, flowers would bloom beneath her foot, and every time she lifted the foot, the flowers would die again. "They set the restrictions that no matter what, this portal must not be used to return to Earth. They couldn't stop people from using the other portals, but here, no Atlanteans would be able to use this portal."

"What do you mean?"

"If you try to bring her with you," Little Goddess stopped in her tracks, turned to look at Juin, and said in a stern voice, "she will lose her Atlantean power."

"What?"

"It's a curse. The owner of my soul helped them stabilize this portal and protect it so that their future Earth descendants would know where to go in case they were prosecuted. If it's the other way, a sacrifice, or an exchange, must be made. If any islander wanted to use this portal, they had to forever forgo their Atlantean power and their Atlantean identity."

"Why?"

"It's just part of the exchange…"

Juin looked at Cecile, who was now lying on the floor next to the two unconscious teenage boys. "So, either she gives up on her Atlantean identity or her life?"

The Little Goddess shrugged.

"By the way, Little Goddess…" Juin suddenly looked at her with a curious glance. "Why are you placed here?"

"What do you mean?"

"This portal can protect itself from being abuse. There's no need for a guardian at all. With such restrictions, most Atlanteans would think twice, four times even, before using it. So why are you here?" Juin asked.

Little Goddess stared at him, and the smile on her face was slowly replaced by an evil smirk. "It's not good to be smart."

Juin stared at him, and after a while, he smiled politely. "It's worse to be dumb."

"How did you find out? Surely that's not the only sign."

"The fire user that's been going in and out of the portal."

"You heard of him?"

"I had my speculation, which you had just confirmed. There must be something that he wanted here."

Little Goddess moved until she was right in front of him. "You're right… But he can't find it."

"Because whatever he's looking for… is with you."

"I was wrong…" Little Goddess chuckled. "You are just like him."

"I don't know who is this 'him' you are talking of, and I don't think you will tell me, not directly anyway…" he said with a low sigh. "But for your information, it's not hard to guess it. He probably orc_h_e_s_trated the genocide, and he's been going in and out of this deserted island… Whatever he wanted to loot, he would have completed looted everything by now. Which means that, whatever he's looking for, it's something that's been hiding from him…

"And since he's a human from another world, and coming in from Earth, he wouldn't trigger the restrictions here, or the Stone Guardians, and most importantly, he wouldn't trigger you into appearing…"

Little Goddess smiled and reached up to pat his head. "Smart. They would be so proud of you."

Juin sighed inwardly. "Who?"

As expected, Little Goddess avoided answering his question by asking, "Aren't you curious what he's looking for?"

"I am," Juin said with a nod, having given up on getting a straight answer on who she was talking about, "but it's up to you to tell me."

"When the main soul came here, she was badly injured. The natives helped to keep her safe from her enemies, so she created those flowers to protect them."

"You have already mentioned this."

"But the powers within the flowers aren't naturally occurring, nor is it powered by a spell…" Little Goddess said. "It's a weapon."

"It must have been quite a powerful weapon if it could make someone kill off a whole clan," Cyrus said as he looked at Juin.

Juin agreed. He looked at Little Goddess and asked, "Can I ask what-"

"Yes!" Little Goddess said excitedly as she clapped her hands together. "If it's anyone else, I would tell them to go kill themself, but you are a special case."

"Why?" Cyrus asked with a curious tone. "What's so special--"

His sentence was cut off halfway by a hand that covered his mouth. Annoyed, Cyrus glared at the person doing it and growled threateningly.

"I'm sorry…" Juin mumbled, quickly pulling his hand away at the same time. "Let the Little Goddess speak."

Little Goddess smiled gently and said, "The man came here looking for the weapon because of its innate ability."

She leaned forward and whispered, "The power to neutralize all poisons…"
