Wang Nianzhen came looking for Tong Xuelu a couple of days later and said to meet after work that day.
Tong Xuelu was delighted after she learned that.
The government closed very on time the next day.
After walking out of the restaurant, Tong Xuelu waved and parted ways with Meng Qingqing before she headed toward an opposite direction of where her home was.
She turned into a hidden alleyway and made the sound of a cuckoo bird.
Shortly after, another cuckoo sound came from around the corner.
It was comical how the two acted like they were members of some underground organization.
Wang Nianzhen quickly appeared from around the corner with a sack in her hand. It looked to be quite solid. “Comrade Tong, I have what you want here.”
Tong Xuelu pulled out a cotton jacket and looked at it. She rubbed the fabric with her fingers. It was nice and thick and looked to be very warm.
Tong Xuelu was very pleased. “How much?”
Wang Nianzhen said, “40.57 yuan. You can just round it down. The rest are a token of appreciation for your help on the braised pork.”
Tong Xuelu did want to take advantage of her. She paid Wang Nianzhen 40.6 yuan.
She already got a bargain deal on these clothes. It would not be right to take more advantage.
Seeing that Tong Xuelu paid her over the amount, Wang Nianzhen quickly said, “Hold on. Let me give you change.”
Tong Xuelu waved her hands and said, “That won’t be necessary. Hurry up and take off. We don’t want to be seen by others.”
Wang Nianzhen thought about it some and stopped looking for change. She had already provided Tong Xuelu with a lower amount. “Alright. And, I will be bringing the pork over to the restaurant in three days’ time.”
Tong Xuelu nodded and urged her to take off again.
Wang Nianzhen didn’t want to be seen either. She turned and ran off.
When Wang Nianzhen could no longer be seen, Tong Xuelu finally said, “C’mon out, you two.”
Tong Jiaming and Tong Jiaxin finally appeared from the other end of the alleyway.
Tong Jiaxin was so excited that his face was red. “Big Sister, are there really clothes inside?”
Tong Xuelu nodded, “That’s right, but don’t look at them here. Look when we get home. Jiaming, put two sets in your pocket and Jiaxin will take 2 sets as well.”
Tong Xuelu carried her own three sets. That way they wouldn’t draw too much attention.
The three of them put the clothes into their respective bag and also hurried out of the alleyway.
When they had gotten home, Tong Jiaming went to pick up Tong Mianmian from the Wei’s before they started to unwarp the clothes.
Tong Xuelu had three sets. She had already told the two brothers about that ahead of time.
They did not have any opinion on that.
Tong Xuelu, after all, did not bring any clothes with her. Tong Zhenzhen was shorter than Tong Xuelu and Tong Xuelu would not be able to wear her clothes.
Besides, she was making money now. It was only fair that she got two extra sets for herself.
