Tong Xuelu walked out of the kitchen finally after the lunch rush was over.
Truth was, being a chef was not a demanding job at all. All of the hard work such as chopping the vegetables or doing the dishes were done by someone else. All she needed to do was to cook up the food.
The best of it all was that she could hide some of the meat away. Her family had been having meat everyday lately.
Tong Mianmian even have some fat on her cheeks now. She was particularly pinchable with her chubby cheeks.
“Xuelu, your cooking is so amazing!”
“Exactly. How did you learn how to cook? How are you able to make such amazing food in such a short period of time?”
Tong Xuelu’s lips curved slightly. “I guess I’m just very talented.”
Everyone, “……”
Yup, she was the same old Tong Xuelu alright. So conceited!
All of a sudden, everybody felt much cozier. One by one, they told Tong Xuelu what they were looking for.
All of them could be boil down to one point –– that they weren’t happy with their current hairdo and wanted to look prettier.
Tong Xuelu gave each of them advice based on their individual face shapes.
She would not be accompanying them to the salon this time as she was not able to spare the time.
The others understood.
Once their hairdo problem had been solved, those from the Cultural Troupe returned to work.
Fang Jingyuan was the last to leave. She looked at Tong Xuelu and stammered. “Em, do you think I can go visit you at your place from time to time in the future?”
Tong Xuelu could see right through her right away. She wanted free food and drinks.
Nevertheless, she had no ill feelings toward Fang Jingyuan. Besides, Fang Jingyuan and the Fang family helped her a lot in resolving the school matters.
She nodded. “Sure, come by whenever.”
Fang Jingyuan’s eyes lit up. “Okay! It’s a date!”
Tong Xuelu turned to return to the kitchen after everyone was gone but she ran into Tan Xiaoyan’s square face and she was startled.
“By golly, why were you standing behind me like that. Didn’t your mother ever told you not to scare someone that way?”
Tan Xiaoyan lifted up her chin and said, “You help me with a hairdo as well!”
Tong Xuelu rolled her eyes. “Look at yourself. A hairdo cannot save you.” You are ugly one way or another!
She just might give Tan Xiaoyan some pointers if she had asked nicely. But what was with that I-am-doing-you-a-favor attitude?
Tan Xiaoyan was so angry when she looked at Tong Xuelu’s back that smoke could come out of her head.
There was another person who was staring at Tong Xuelu from behind at the same time. That was Liu Dongchang.
He had been very troubled lately.
Torn between the two women, he did not know which of them he should pick.
If he was to pick Tong Xuelu, he would have to give up on what Meng Jingjing’s family has to offer. Besides, Meng Jingjing has a better temperament and would make a better wife.
If he was to pick Meng Jingjing, however, he also could not be happy with that decision. Tong Xuelu was too pretty after all. It would feed his vainness being seen with her.
He had been so torn between the two as of late.
But now, he finally had his mind made up.
The biggest downside of Tong Xuelu was her siblings. But then again, she had adoptive parents who were government officials. And she had a lot of connections.
Everyone of those from the Cultural Troupe earlier were families of government officials.
If he was to marry Tong Xuelu, all of these resources would be his!
Thinking of that, he straightened out his hair and walked inside the kitchen, planning to ask Tong Xuelu out.
Nevertheless, the second that he walked inside the kitchen, he saw Tong Xuelu picking up a broom and swept something off the floor.
Much like a golf ball, what was on the floor went airborne and landed on Liu Dongchang’s face.
Never mind that. The problem was that whatever that had hit his face was fluffy and it was moving!
The thing, seemingly startled, scratched Liu Dongchang a few times on his face, fell on the ground, and took off in high speed.
Compared to the rat, Liu Dongchang was even more shocked!
He had just walked inside and saw a mouse flying at him and landed right on his face.
That was a rat they were talking about! That was disgusting!
And, before he could even react to that, the rat even scratched him on his face!
Liu Dongchang gasped and almost die from anger right then and that.
Welp, that was awkward.
