113 Puppet Jade Part 2

Liu Fengyu's skin's outer layer suddenly sprayed out digestive fluid, as if all the pores on his body had turned into hot springs. The digestive fluid completely dissolved his clothes, and even the cement floor emitted a sizzling sound. The surrounding pollen was instantly incinerated, and Liu Fengyu finally regained some consciousness. He grabbed a dagger and leaped towards Zhao Yinrong, who was looking at him in fear, and stabbed the dagger into her heart.

Staring at her gradually dilating pupils, Liu Fengyu softly said, "Considering you're a woman, I'll spare you a complete body."

Zhao Yinrong collapsed amidst the thick petals. At the moment her breath ceased, the vibrant pink peony rapidly withered, and the massive petal cocoon closed around her lifeless body.

Liu Fengyu stumbled as he walked away. His mind was filled with illusions, alternating between chilling ice and scorching flames. The last shred of sanity urged him to leave the parking lot as the air here was stagnant.

Once outside the parking lot, he took a deep breath of the cold, fresh air, then collapsed with a thud. His body convulsed uncontrollably. He found himself surrounded by a tranquil primeval forest, where towering treetops blocked most of the sunlight. The ground was moist and slippery, posing a constant threat of stumbling. Colleagues from the crew excitedly talked to him, while young interns carrying cameras beamed with energy.

He realized he was in Xishuang’s primeval forest, recording a program. Yes, he was shooting a show and it would be over in a day. Then he could finally go home. He had had enough of this place, covered in mosquito bites that itch and hurt. He yearned to go back home, take a hot shower, and get a good night's sleep.

Suddenly, the ground shook violently. Countless birds took flight, and forest animals scrambled in all directions. Smiles on everyone's faces turned into fear.

The originally tiny mosquitoes grew into monstrous beings the size of washbasins, sucking a beautiful actress dry. A python over five meters long swallowed their tall director whole. Palm-sized white ants passed by, turning the cameraman and guide into pale skeletons.

All the vibrant lives before him were dying in a tragic and gruesome manner. He screamed in terror, but no sound came out. He desperately ran, but it felt like something was entangling his legs. His heart was filled with unparalleled fear!

Suddenly, he fell into something. Glancing around, he found himself surrounded by crimson, blood-like petals adorned with tiny barbs that secreted a pale yellow liquid. As the liquid touched his skin, it turned into blood!

He struggled to escape, but the more he struggled, the deeper he sank into the flowers. He felt himself being dissolved, his skin, flesh, and bone marrow turning into pools of blood due to the nightmare-like digestive fluid. A profound sense of terror and excruciating pain engulfed his consciousness. He desperately screamed, but no sound emerged. The pain was unbearable! He was about to die!

"Liu Fengyu! Liu Fengyu! Wake up! Liu Fengyu!"

A voice called out to him, distant as if it came from the sky, yet close to his ears.

"Liu Fengyu!"

Liu Fengyu's eyes snapped open, and a familiar handsome face appeared before him. He gasped for breath, wide-eyed, looking at Tang Yanqiu.

Tang Yanqiu's eyes were filled with concern. "What's wrong with you? Are you awake now?"

Liu Fengyu continued to gasp for air, unable to speak.

Tang Yanqiu gently tapped his face. "Wake up, are you affected by the pollen?"

Liu Fengyu's consciousness slowly returned. He realized that he was holding onto Tang Yanqiu's arm, and Tang Yanqiu had embraced him in his arms. Liu Fengyu felt completely drained and shivering from the cold. He was still in shock, his body trembling uncontrollably. Subconsciously, he held onto Tang Yanqiu tightly, seeking comfort in the warmth of the man's broad and solid chest, which had a calming effect.

Tang Yanqiu was taken aback, feeling somewhat stiff. Liu Fengyu's earlier state had scared him. It was as if he had been controlled by a nightmare, screaming and convulsing with his eyes closed. Now that he had finally awakened and was hugging him without saying a word, his behavior still seemed eerie, leaving Tang Yanqiu on edge.

Tentatively, Tang Yanqiu asked, "Liu Fengyu, are you awake now?"

Liu Fengyu slowly opened his mouth and softly replied, "Mmm."

Hearing Liu Fengyu's response, Tang Yanqiu breathed a sigh of relief. He took off his coat and wrapped it around Liu Fengyu. "Can you stand up?"

Liu Fengyu regained some clarity. He nodded and tried to get up from the ground but found that his legs had no strength at all. He was shocked to realize that he had underestimated Zhao Yinrong. The power of that pollen was truly astonishing. If he hadn't possessed the ability to counteract the pollen, he wouldn't have been able to even touch one petal of Zhao Yinrong. No wonder this woman, seemingly powerless, could instill fear in so many people. For an ordinary person, they would have been trapped in their deepest fears, unable to wake up. Even he, if Tang Yanqiu hadn't awakened him, would have either died from fright, pain, or freezing.

Tang Yanqiu said, "Don't move, I'll take you to Abu." He lifted Liu Fengyu and flapped his wings, flying into the air and heading towards the open space in front of the experimental building.

Liu Fengyu, feeling weak, said, "Thank you, Tang Daxia."

Tang Yanqiu replied, "You're welcome." After a moment of thought, he asked, "What did you dream about?"

"I didn't dream. I entered past memories, and the terror of those memories was amplified," Liu Fengyu self-deprecatingly sneered. "Damn it, I thought I had forgotten all about it. I really didn't want to recall it."

For someone like him, who had been pampered and had never experienced any hardships, his previous life had been smooth sailing. However, during the apocalypse, he happened to be in the primal forest where animal and plant mutations were most severe. He witnessed his colleagues and friends die tragically, and in the end, he was devoured alive by a flower. The fear he experienced was ingrained in his bones, something he simply dared not remember. Thanks to that damn pollen, he had to experience it all over again.

"It was caused by that pollen, right?"

"Yes, that woman is really powerful. No wonder..." Liu Fengyu shuddered at the memories. This was the most dangerous experience he had gone through since the apocalypse. He finally understood how one could be "killed in endless agony."

"By the way, how did you find me?"

"You were shouting loudly."

Liu Fengyu tried to find humor in his predicament and said, "My voice is beautiful, isn't it? Damn it, I almost died."

"I won't let you die," Tang Yanqiu said softly.

"What?" Liu Fengyu looked at him in surprise.

Tang Yanqiu looked at him seriously. "Before I left the Tang family, I promised my sister that I would protect you."

Liu Fengyu raised an eyebrow and asked, "Really? Why didn't I hear you say that before?"

Tang Yanqiu's expression became slightly awkward/ "I know, that's enough."

Liu Fengyu chuckled, "Anyway, I have to thank you this time. Come on, let me give you a kiss as a reward." He leaned in to kiss Tang Yanqiu on the cheek.

Tang Yanqiu was startled, his face turning red. "You, you stop fooling around!"

"Why so shy? If you don't want it, then give it to Xiaoyan Jin when we get back to the Tang family."

"Don't you dare have any thoughts about my sister!"

"I'm not having any thoughts about her! She's so young, not even an adult yet. I've told you so many times, why don't you believe me? Can't you understand human language?"

Tang Yanqiu glanced at him skeptically, not entirely convinced.

"Come on, I don't owe anyone any favors. Let me give you a kiss, and we'll be even," Liu Fengyu teased.

Tang Yanqiu blushed and felt embarrassed. "There's no need for that!"

Seeing his face turn red, Liu Fengyu couldn't help but burst into laughter, and his gloomy mood finally improved.

Soon, Tang Yanqiu brought him to Abu's side. Cong Xia exclaimed, "What happened to Brother Liu?"

Liu Fengyu replied, "Xiaoxia, come quickly, I'm freezing to death."

Zhuang Yao asked, "What about the others? Have you seen Deng Xiao? How about Cheng Tianbi?"

"I'll go look for them again." Tang Yanqiu flapped his wings and flew off into the distance.

Liu Fengyu wrapped his coat tightly and shivered as he held Cong Xia's hand. "Xiaoxia, your Liu ge just ran around naked, and I'm freezing to death."

"You should at least consider keeping your clothes on when transforming. Wait a moment, I'll find some clothes for you from someone else."

"No, I won't wear dirty clothes from a dead person, even if I freeze to death."

Cong Xia could only take off his own extra pair of pants and hand them to Liu Fengyu. "Then wear mine for now. I'm not afraid of the cold."

Trembling, Liu Fengyu put on the pants, and Cong Xia infused energy into his body to warm him up. Liu Fengyu finally began to recover.

Meanwhile, behind the experimental building, Tang Yanqiu found Deng Xiao, who was nearly frozen stiff. He had lost a lot of blood, but the low temperature was about to finish him off.

Tang Yanqiu quickly lifted Deng Xiao and brought him back to Abu. Just as Cong Xia managed to warm up Liu Fengyu's body, Deng Xiao, who was on the verge of hibernation, was brought back.

Cong Xia was about to help warm him up when Zhuang Yao stopped him. "Let him enter hibernation mode. He might have lost a lot of blood, and hibernating will slow down his blood flow. We can heal his injuries while he's asleep."

Hearing this, Deng Xiao stopped struggling and closed his eyes, entering a state of hibernation that appeared almost lifeless, conserving energy to withstand the low temperature.

Cong Xia looked at the more than ten skeletons stuck in Deng Xiao's tail. Although they were not very thick, some had already split, and forcibly pulling them out might tear the wounds further. He worriedly looked at the skeletons and said, "Zhuang Yao, what should we do about this?"

Zhuang Yao pondered for a moment and then said, "Liu Fengyu, see if you can dissolve the skeletons without causing too much harm to his flesh."

Liu Fengyu said, "It's impossible not to touch the flesh inside."

"I have an idea. First, dissolve the skeletons exposed outside. Then, inject a small amount of digestive fluid into the bone marrow's cavity, gradually melting it. Once the bone becomes soft, you should be able to pull it out directly."

"I'll give it a try." Liu Fengyu held the skeletons and quickly dissolved the outer layer with his secreted digestive fluid. Then, following Zhuang Yao's suggestion, he carefully inserted his small finger's tip into the bone marrow, pouring the digestive fluid inside until the bone turned into a hollow tube and the outer layer became considerably softer.

Cong Xia carefully pulled out one of the hollow bones, and with a pinch of his fingers, it turned to dust. He praised, "This method works well."

The two of them collaborated to treat Deng Xiao's wounds.

At that moment, about a hundred meters away in the open space where Yi Dong had been facing off against the castor bean bushes, he let out a painful scream, indicating that the outcome of their battle was about to be determined.

The situation on the battlefield was under their control. The Fenglan Society probably had only one castor bean mutant left alive. Three out of the five top experts from Wei Zi's faction had been killed, leaving only two brothers. Tang Yanqiu had killed Xu Zhuo, Liu Fengyu had killed Zhao Yinrong, and Yan Huiyang had severely injured Zhao Fen and Yao Huang, leaving them in a miserable state. The remaining several dozen mutants from Wei Zi's faction either tried to escape or had lost their fighting spirit. They were clearly the faction that had preserved its strength most effectively in this battle.

The outcome was no longer in doubt.
