Standing across a pale faced Adrian who was regarding him with goggle-eyes, Luke expressed himself chirpily, as usual.
"Hey! Ad.."
In his state of jubilation, Luke completely overlooked the pretty lady and continued asking questions. Su Yin was frowning beside the blue eyed man apparently confused by this unknown man's friendliness with the mighty ice king.
"Man, I thought you're busy.. Why didn't you answer my calls?"
Still not able to absorb the shock he'd received from Luke's sudden appearance, Adrian was tongue-tied and sputtered incoherently. Su Yin looked at her man having a hard time and frowned, it was an astonishing sight.
"Lu.. Luke? You.."
Rolling his glistening light green eyes, Luke said in an annoying voice while pointing his finger to his face.
"Yes! It's ME.."
Faced with someone like Luke, a goofball with oozing energy, the bubbly natured Su Yin couldn't stay still. She almost let out a light chuckle trying to control her laughter and bit her lips, smiling.
Not bothering the deafening silence to his inquiries from the other side, Luke nodded his head as though understanding Adrian's plight and continued on his own. He was a blabbering mess.
"I called you multiple times, it went unanswered and I thought you were on a mission or something.."
Taking a rushing step forward, Adrian hurriedly reached to stop Luke's rambling mouth. He gave the latter a glare before directing it towards the side where Su Yin was smiling wryly, waving her hand.
"Luke! Luke!! Stop..!"
In his excitement, Luke had subconsciously divulged a lot of information and it was dangerous, for him as well as for Su Yin.
Regarding the beauty smiling at him a kin to an angel descended from the heavens, Luke's muddled brain short circuited before he returned back to normal. He went blank for an entire minute before an audible gasp escaped his moisturized lips, his green eyes widened while he connected the dots, mentally.
"Oh! Oooh.. This!"
Afraid that his 'stupid friend' would once begin to babble about unnecessary stuff and disclose other 'confidential' things, Adrian hastily tried to interrupt Luke. He held Su Yin's hand in his lovingly, a faint but breezy smile gracing his thin lips.
"She's.."
However, Luke beat Adrian to it.
Before Adrian could complete his sentence and introduce Su Yin, Luke's enthusiastic voice reached him once again and he felt a foreboding feeling rise in his chest.
Holding his breath, Adrian's heart throbbed in anticipation of his problematic friend's next words.
"I know! She's Miss Zhang, your love.."
Color drained out of Su Yin's rosy, glowing face. Her sweet, angelic smile cracked as she stood gaping at Adrian's odd stance and Luke's stretched out hand in bafflement. Her eyes stinging.
"Hi, I'm Luke.. Ad's best buddy!"
Seeing that Su Yin was frozen in shock or rather surprised, or so Luke thought. The man forcibly shook their hands briefly, introducing himself while he showcased his even teeth smiling brilliantly.
Overwhelmed, Su Yin's hand hung in air as she mumbled something inaudibly still gawping at his bright face.
"Uh?"
Adrian had a pitifully crying expression plastered across his striking face that was once ever cold and unfeeling. Exasperated, he raked his fingers through his slightly longer hair and sighed in defeated.
Ignoring Adrian's strange behavior that was now an eyesore, Luke had his undivided focus on Su Yin and tried to ease her worries, given how nervous she looked. Her hands trembling ever so lightly.
"Oh.. No, you don't have to feel shocked, not at all. This man here, he's told me everything, you know, as I told we're best buddies!"
Reaching out to the miserable looking Adrian, Luke hugged his shoulders tightly while proudly declaring 'Adrian's love for Zhang Lili'.
"This guy.. He loves you so much, SO MUCH! You won't believe me.."
All of a sudden Luke laughed appearing highly amused by something and shot a glance at Adrian, who was looking at Su Yin who in turn was glaring at him embittered.
"I'm telling you.. Just months ago, this man, he was crying bitterly like a two year old while drinking his sorrows away.."
With her fists clenching, her nails digging the soft skin of her palms, Su Yin glowered at Adrian. Her clear, black jadeite like eyes were misty with unshed tears. Biting her pink lips she was clearly holding herself back from crying.
Witnessing Su Yin's painful, piercing gaze Adrian's heart wrenched in agony. His chest was stinging, a prickly pain was spreading through out his body. It was numbing his rationale.
"It was such a revolting experience for me! Heh.."
Chuckling, Luke imitated a puking action as he teased Adrian, a disgusted expression on his face.
Throwing aside the gleefully chortling Luke's hand, Adrian attempted to take Su Yin's hand in his large palms.
Already having seen through Adrian's act as his hand quivered towards her, Su Yin darted a look of apology at the oblivious Luke who was smiling like an idiot.
"I'll.. Excuse me, I'll be back.."
Averting her gaze away from Adrian's profound, fearful eyes, Su Yin excused herself with a stiff smile on her sorry face.. She hastily walked away from the two men .
