"Shut up!"

Rita's eyes were filled with anger as she slapped David on the arm. The way she lost her temper at him clearly indicated how much she cared about the baby. Pursing her lips, she looked at him with a sullen expression.

She felt even more annoyed when she saw the relaxed smile on his face.

David's immature behavior made him look more like a silly child than a man who was father to a newborn daughter.

David shook with fright at the sudden nature of Rita's outburst. To hide his embarrassment, he covered his mouth with both hands and coughed.

"I'm excited to see our daughter,"

David said in a gentle voice.

He always spoke softly to Rita because he loved her deeply.

Suddenly, the sound of their baby daughter chuckling entered their ears and charmed their hearts.

The lovely baby was blinking at her parents with tiny round eyes while tilting her head at them with a smile on her face. Perhaps she was amused to see her father being put in his place by her mother.

David and Rita were surprised to see the baby smiling at them.

It was clear that their hearts were seized by an unquenchable excitement.

When David held the baby in his arms, he didn't fight the urge to kiss her; instead, he willingly gave in.

"Look at how great our daughter is. She can light up the room with her smile at such a young age!"

"Yes, you're right."

The childlike smile on David's face warmed Rita's heart. She knew that despite David's childish sense of humor, he would do anything for her and their daughter. With a gentle smile to indicate her happiness, Rita stared at David and watched him play with their daughter.

The following day, bright rays of sunlight forced their way through the window.

The warmth of the sunshine, however, comforted both David and Rita.

With a faint smile on his lips, David looked at the face of his beloved woman, secretly wishing that he could freeze this moment in time forever.

He began to think of an ideal life where there was no hatred or intrigue. Only him with his loving wife and happy children.

The thought made the smile on his face deeper and wider.

While he was immersed in his fantasies, a familiar voice interrupted his thoughts. In an instant, an atmosphere of tension filled the room.

"David, I heard that your wife has given birth to a daughter. Why didn't you tell me about it? After all, I'm your brother," Darren said as he pushed the door open and came into the room.

Suddenly, there was a sullen expression on David's face and he looked at Darren coldly.

With his eyes slightly narrowed, Darren emitted a cold and sinister aura.

David gently laid the baby beside Rita and then stood in front of the bed, facing Darren. He just wanted to protect hi

d by a smile, but the strange look in his eyes lingered. David knew that Darren was scheming something. Before leaving the ward, Darren turned to Rita and said, "My dear, you must take care of yourself."

"Stay away from me!"

Rita shouted furiously at Darren, her eyes full of disgust. Then she turned away from him, and there was a cold look on her face.

"How do you have the heart to be so cruel to me?"

Darren asked Rita with a lecherous smile on his lips. He did not even glance at David who was standing right next to him, as if he and Rita were alone in the room.

"Darren, you are so pathetic! Can't Dina satisfy you?"

Rita retorted with a sardonic sneer on her face. She just could not bring herself to tolerate Darren's presence anymore.

No man could tolerate another man behaving so brazenly with their beloved woman, let alone a man who was his sworn enemy. Having lost his patience, David quickly dashed towards Darren, caught him by the collar and dragged him to the door of the ward. Then, he kicked the door open and threw him out.

Darren, however, kept smiling instead of showing any signs of anger. When David put his hands on his collar, he didn't even try to disengage himself from his grasp. In fact, even David did not expect to see Darren leave without so much as putting up a fight.

"Darling, don't be angry. You just need a good rest." After locking the door shut, David quickly came to Rita and sat beside her. He gently stroked her back while comforting her with words in a soft voice.

She was so physically weak that David couldn't take any chances right now.

"Don't worry, my dear. Darren is just a sorry excuse for a human being. I don't want to waste my time thinking about him," said David.

Rita realized how true David's words were and she looked at him with a reassuring smile.
