Virat suddenly felt empty. "Sanvi I know what your thinking right now. But please trust me-" He was left hanging midway. He tried to pull her back into his embrace.

Sanvi took a step back, raised both her hands in defence and indicated him to stop talking. "Virat, that's where you've misunderstood. Nobody can fake things for years. Probably you started it off as a dare to make her fall for you. But then, eventually you actually started liking her. You started respecting and admiring her. I've seen that love you had for her. These eyes can nicer fool Virat.

Virat let out a bitter laugh. "No Sanvi, I wanted her. I was lusting over her every single day and night. But all these years, I never got a chance to even touch her little finger. Her past life had left a deep scar on her that she refused to be touched by anybody. I was patiently putting on my best boyfriend image."

Virat paused. He looked away from Sanvi gulped down the contents of the entire drink and told her. "I didn't know that she'd already planned this party. But I thought of getting her here after our graduation ceremony as a celebration to formally propose to her. Most importantly getting to lay my hands on her and finally leave her after that. You know I'm such a schemer Sanvi!" Virat couldn't control any longer. His eyes flooded with tears.

Sanvi didn't know if she was hallucinating since they were drinking. She couldn't believe her own ears. But right now, she didn't think any of that.

She immediately got closer to Virat and hugged him. "It's okay. It's okay Virat. You didn't do any of that. So it's okay. You are not at fault and Maya always thought you loved her. This secret will remain with us. When Maya comes back, you can continue to love her like you do with all your heart without faking." She lovingly patted his back and tried to console him.

Just then Virat opened his mouth to speak. He was still being hugged and consoled by Sanvi. " Sanvi, but only after I lost her did I realise what I lost. That's when I learnt my lesson, the hard way. I deserved this Sanvi. I was such a creepy schemer, who fooled her in the name of love. Such a wonderful gem of a girl doesn't deserve a scoundrel like me. But Sanvi, I promise I've changed. I've realised it all. I will never ever lose her again."

He pause and continued, "If only life can give me a second chance…. I badly want to correct myself Sanvi. I need to find her. I'll give her all the love in this world. Please let's get her back." He continued to wail out now.

Sanvi felt like her chest was tearing apart. 'Here I'm still thinking of the possibilities of making you mine while your entirety is shouting just one name -Maya!' Sanvi felt irony ripping her soul apart.

Yet, she managed to keep all of her feelings aside and was trying all possible ways to console Virat. Maybe her love for him was so unconditional that she overlooked all his flaws as well. She loved him so much to the point where she was putting herself at risk. She very well knew that this love of her would leave her totally devastated. Yet she was ready to give herself fully and blending into him body and soul.

She made him sit on a chair and stood in between his legs and said, "Okay now enough Virat. Stop crying now." She kept repeating it and wiped his tears lovingly to the point she was almost kissing his tears away. Their proximity to each other was too much that she could feel his warm breath on her face. Her fingers accidentally brushed past his lips. She froze.

Their lips were just inches apart now. She looked into his black eyes which had become clear just like the sky after a heavy rainfall.

Virat felt like Sanvi's eyes could see through his dark soul.

Sanvi sensed the discomfort Virat felt. She kissed him on his forehead. "It's okay Virat. You don't have to worry about anything anymore. Come, let's get back to sleep now."

She was about to turn around when Virat said, "Stay!" Even Virat didn't realise why he said that. Maybe because he had just then bared his soul to  Sanvi, he felt very insecure once she was about to go.

Sanvi froze. She stood there like a rock.

Virat hugged her and buried his head at the crook of her neck. Sanvi felt her last line of resistance cracking up. She hugged him back wholly.
