“This is the Official Magic Research Clubroom!” I proudly say as I present the magnificent laboratory.

The walls are lined with bookshelves filled with essays and specialized books while there were also shelves and tables filled with machines meant for experimentations. There’s even a cage filled with monkeys and another cage for guinea pigs for the purpose of animal testing. In general, this place looks just like Wolf-sensei’s lab, only more compact, which is also a sign that we’re not just messing around; we’re really planning to do some serious research in this place.

In addition, there’s also a girly lounge where we can have a pleasant chat as we eat some sweets as well. Of course the snacks are those I snagged from the Round Table.

“Ooh! This is superb, Astrid-sama!”

“This truly looks professional…”

Miine-kun, Lotte-kun, Bridgitte-kun and Sandra-kun all heaved a sigh of admiration as they beheld the magnificence of our clubroom.

“It’s completely different from that wannabe magic research club that only had “making sneezing cookies” as their agenda! We are going to conduct real magical experiment here!”

For we are the Official Magic Research Club! Way different than that wannabe Magic Research club!

“Still, we’re not going to do that today. Let us hold a tea party to celebrate getting this clubroom. I’ve obtained some tea and snacks from the Round Table.”

“I feel bad for making you go through such task, Astrid-sama…”

“Don’t worry about it. I’ll go brew some tea, okay?”

“We shall take care of that! Please have a seat, Astrid-sama!”

Hmm…I thought Miine-kun had opened her heart to me but apparently, she still tends to feel bad for me and feel reserved. Seems like Varya-senpai was right in saying that your family position can make a bigger obstacle that bars me from making great friends. Now I wonder if Iris is doing fine with it.

“Have some tea, Astrid-sama.”

“Thanks. You all should also have a seat and let’s enjoy the tea” I said, pointing at the chairs as Miine-kun served me a cup of tea.

“Alright, cheers for the establishment of our clubroom!”

“N-No, Astrid-sama, we do not hold cheers while drinking tea.”

“It’s the thoughts that count, Lotte-kun.”

Of course I’m not as ignorant as to not know that you can’t throw up cheers with a cup of tea in hand.

“Anyways, what do you think of the room?” I asked in excitement.

“It looks like a laboratory that undergraduate students would go to do their research. It seems that you truly aim to conduct a proper magic research…”

“It seems wasted on us.”

Brigitte-kun and Sandra-kun stated their opinion.

“Don’t forget that you can use any equipment int his room as much as you like. Also, I’ll cover all of the club’s expenses, so you don’t have to spend a single coin on the club.

“With all due respect, Astrid-sama, that is preposterous!”

“Think about it, the club was formed half because of my selfish whim of wanting to pursue my hobby, so I’d feel bad for asking you all to pay for it…”

That’s right, this club is just an extension of my hobby, and I had dragged these girls just so that I can continue doing what I like, so I would really feel bad if I end up going through their pockets as well.

“Then please at least allow us to contribute even for just a bit! If it’s for you, Astrid-sama, I wouldn’t mind paying for a bit!”

“She’s right! I have been in your care endlessly after all, Astrid-sama!”

Aah, I’m truly thankful that I have such great friends.

“Then I’ll take you up on your offer and split a part of the club expenses We’ll use the club budget for covering the consumables we would use.”

In the meantime, I shall procure the money needed to maintain this space by begging my Father. Even if he only did that reluctantly, he did give me the money to procure these equipment for his cute daughter in the first place.

…under the condition that I won’t be a court magician in the future.

“Alright, how about we decide on our goals for now?”

“Our goals, is it?” asked Lotte-kun, responding to my question while tilting her head.

“That’s right. For example the Track and Field or other sports club’s goal is to win a championship, while indoors clubs had an objective to create something. I think that we need to have a goal of our own otherwise we’re no different than that wannabe Magic Research club.”

A goal is definitely important. If we have a goal, we have a clear direction of where our activities should lead. If we don’t we’re going to end up just like that wannabe research club where we end up just lazing about every day, that’s why our official club needs to decide on a goal!

“Can I simply aim for improving my grade in magic?”

“Of course it’s okay! Let’s aim to be the few top scorers of the magic subject!”

So Brigitte-kun aims for higher scores, huh. Not a bad objective to be honest. We can aim for a better score at the Magical Athletic Festival or something, so we can have that as an objective, but seems like this world doesn’t hold that kind of event, so the only objective we can aim for is just plain academic scores.

“Can I aim for higher test scores as well? If I may be honest, I aim to be a Court Magician in the future…”

“Ooh! By all means! It’s great that you aim to be a court magician!”

Seems like Sandra-kun aims to be a court magician. While I’m barred from doing it, Sandra-kun’s family is only a viscount, so being a court magician could only bring good things to her. Hmm, I’m envious that she can look for a profession that are all about magic…

“Lotte-san and I are…um…we would like to make a love potion…”

“Oh my, of course that’s also fine. Let’s all do our best in our research!”

Hohoh, so their goal is Adolf and Silvio’s heart, hmm? I’m glad that Miine-kun and the others are getting assertive since I need them to get rid of those landmines called Adolf and Silvio as soon as possible.

“Alright then, we’re done setting up our goals for now, right? As the club president, I shall help you realize your goals on top of my own research. My research aims to adapt human bodies for combat! Let’s all do our best with our goals!”

That’s right, as a club leader I need to come up with some goals of my own, so I told them that my research aims to adapt human bodies for the purpose of warfare, since using Blood Magic to give me advantage in combat is something I truly need to fight my fate in the future!

Though without needing those exaggerated reasons, having a research on how to improve your reflexes and boost your physical strength at the same time couldn’t hurt anybody. If I were to ask for more, I would have asked for the knowledge and equipment to learn the grad school curriculum, which is way too overblown for a middle school student like me, so I feel that it’s better if I gradually go through them bit by bit.

“…am I the only one that thinks Astrid-sama’s goal sounds a bit…dangerous?”

“I’m sure it’s all in your mind. My goal itself is full of womanly charm you know?”

…I guess there’s no shred of womanly charm in it though I admit.

“Alright, let’s all write our ambitions and paste them on the walls!” I said as I spread a piece of paper.

“I want to be one of the top ten scorers in Magic subject.”

“Likewise, top ten for me.”

Bridgitte-kun and Sandra-kun both wrote “I want to be one of the top ten students in Magic studies.

“Uuh…I’ll go with…wanting to create magic that can charm the gentlemen…”

“I…I’ll write that I will research about the practical use of Blood Magic in the subject of love…”

I guess writing “I want to make a love potion” straight up is too embarrassing, so Miine-kun and Lotte-kun opted to write something vague instead.

Fufufu, the two is so pure.

“I’ll write that I want to adapt human body for combat.”

With my own goals written at last, the objectives of the Official Magic Research Club are finally established!

“I’ll go ahead and put this up in this part of the wall, okay? Let’s make sure we don’t lose sight of our goals.”

Thus, I stuck, up the paper filled with our goals on the wall with thumbtacks.

“This looks more and more like a proper clubroom now.”

“Even the Track and Field club had a poster saying “Let’s aim for the championship!” or something.”

Even the rest of the girls seemed satisfied after I pasted their goals on the wall.

“Alright, let’s finish up our discussion about our goals and test our magical capabilities, shall we?” I said, knocking on a pile of printouts laid on the table in front of us.

“Pop quiz time! Don’t worry, it’s a simple test to measure how much you know, so I won’t drag you to a supplementary lesson or kick you out of the clubroom if you score awfully in this test. Take it easy, and ask me if you have any questions.”

“P-Pop quiz?”

Naturally, the girls were surprised by the simple existence of a pop quiz.

“That’s right, though it’s more like a test of knowledge than a quiz. If I can get a grasp of how much you understand about magic, I could help you reach your goals a lot easier.”

In all honesty, I already know that Miine-kun’s scores are great, but I have little to no ideas about the other three. It’ll be a waste of time teaching them something they already know, and it’s not like they’ll enjoy being taught something like that, so I decided to measure their knowledge at the start.

The test contains easy questions and gets progressively difficult, making sure I can check everything from Elemental magic to Blood Magic.

Alright then, I wonder how they fare.

“Hmm…I have only started learning Blood Magic very recently, so it is very difficult for me.”

“Hawawa…I feel like this is bad…”

Looking at everyone trying to tackle the problem, I started feeling truly glad that I made this club. I wonder if we can chase those lazy fake magic research club out of their clubroom if we continue doing good and outclass them.

Just as I was busy thinking about that, time passes, and the girls finished their tests.

“Alright, I’ll mark the scores for now. That’s all for today, you can all go home or have a leisurely talk here if you want.”

Thus, as the girls were having an idle chat with each other, I busied myself grading their tests.

As I’ve said earlier, Miine-kun’s grades are impressive, and she even got a good understanding of Blood Magic that we’re supposed to learn during our middle school years. As expected, however, she left the difficult, high school-grade questions empty.

Lotte-kun on the other hand seems to be starting to learn Blood Magic herself. Bridgitte-kun had Elemental Magic memorized down to the T, while Sandra-kun seems like she still doesn’t understand much about Blood Magic.

That said, everyone seems to have a good understanding of the curriculum that us first year middle schoolers are supposed to understand, which is to be expected of girls who aim to be a court magician and those who are fueled by the flames of love. I was so proud of them that I would suggest them to aim for the top 5 scorers instead.

“I see that everyone had a good understanding in magic. I shall be teaching all of you from now on, so let’s all improve our scores and fulfill our love!”

“Yeaaah!!”

With that, the curtain closes on the tea party celebrating the establishment of the Official Magic Research Club’s clubroom. I felt sorry that I dragged them into this, but seeing that they have their own motivation, I’m relieved that it looks like we can lead fulfilling days in our club.
