She put on her indifferent look and dialed a number. "Morning. Mr Thong, I believed my grandmother has made earlier arrangements regarding her funeral with you. She passed away last night and currently at the hospital mortuary. Can you head over and do the necessary. She gave you a list of people to contact once she passed away, right? Contact them on my behalf. Thanks." She took a deep breath and made her way to Matriach Lu manor.
The lawyer, Mr Kim was already present when she arrived. The butler informed her that the rest of the family is there as well including her aunt that she never met before. Mr Kim, cleared his throat when he saw Jade entered the living hall. He gestured everyone to sit closer, while he arranged some documents he was holding in order.
"We are gathered here today so that I can execute the late Matriach Lu's last wishes. Right before I proceed to the reading of the will, Matriach Lu would like me to pass her letter to Madam Lu Wen Xin and give Madam some time to digest the content before proceeding to the will reading." Mr Kim announced.
Jade's aunt was caught by surprise with Mr Kim' words. She took the letter handed to her and went back to the corner where she sat earlier to read the letter. Meanwhile Jade's father and mother was engaged in a deep but hushed conversations while her siblings displayed no other emotions except for contempt towards Jade. Their eyes were burning with hatred. They have a rough idea that Jade will be left with most of the inheritance.
The quiet atmosphere was broken by Jade's aunt sobs but it lasted less than 1 minute and her expression were back to her previous expression. She wiped her tears away and folded the letter with elegance and kept it tuck away in her black purse. She then joined the group again.
"I will begin now with the will reading ceremony. Matriach Lu owns..... " As Mr Kim was reading the will, Jade and Lu Mei Ru thoughts were elsewhere. Lu Wen Xin thoughts was on the letter she just read. She was touched by Matriach Lu's letter because in that letter, Matriach Lu apologize for being absent most times and not being able to shower her with much love. She regretted that she was successful in the business world yet lost her children instead especially Wen Xin. Despite Wen Xin being abroad, she had people investigate Wen Xin and kept her updated with Wen Xin's life. Matriach Lu knew Wen Xin's marriage is on the rock and Wen Xin is concerned with getting custody for her children. Wen Xin was shocked that her mother knew so much about her yet she didn't even know her mother was sick. Wen Xin did not seek Matriach Lu's help because she is a proud woman. Matriach Lu set up two trust fund for Wen Xin children and hired the best divorce lawyer for Wen Xin as her final gift. Matriach Lu explained in the letter that she didn't leave the company to Wen Xin because she knew Wen Xin resentment towards the company. The reason for the letter is because Matriach Lu respected Wen Xin's right to privacy.
Jade on the other hand is waiting for the drama to begin once Mr Kim announced that she get the majority of the company shares as well as the right to govern the company. The board of directors already met in secret last week to appoint her as their next C.E.O
Lu empire is leading in the hotel, food and beverages industry since many many years ago thanks to the effort of Matriach Lu.
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a shrilled scream. "How is that possible? My son is the true heir. How is it that it goes to her?" She looked up to see her father stomped his foot and banged his hand on the table to add more effect to his words. "Why not? Grandma had been training me to take over since I was 25 years old. Jade was satisfied with her aunt's attitude, at least Mama Lu did give birth to somebody with brains.
Master Lu got up and gathered his family and decided to leave but before he left he managed to give out a warning. "You better watch out, Jade. This is definitely not the end."
