The car ride was quick but for the person riding, it was like an eternity. No matter what she tried to do, the only thing on her mind was the crying child.
The sound of Johnathan crying for her as she was getting ready to leave. He had been stuck to her after the whole swimming pool incident and now it was hitting home for both of them.

After much deliberation, Sofia finally made up her mind to make it up to him when she saw him next. With that out of the way, Sofia started to mentally prepare herself for Ben's birthday surprise. She knew Ben would be out tonight for dinner, so she had time to prepare everything. Just so she would not give away the surprise, Sofia had talked to him in the morning saying how sorry she was for not being there with him. It was all going according to plan.

Sofia was at Ben's place getting the bedroom ready for his birthday. She did not do any decorations around the house as it would be a dead give away, so the only place decorated was the bedroom. She had everything planned out.
As Ben enters the house, Sofia will wait a few minutes for him to settle down and then quietly go behind and say happy birthday when the clock strikes midnight.
The decor took awhile, and by the time Sofia had completed everything on her list, it was 11pm. The room was no different from the romantic pictures where the place is lit by candles and rose petals. The queen sized bed was covered in roses and the candles were strategically placed around the place to make it bright but not over crowded. The floor of the room was also utilized. There was a trail of flowers from the door till the foot of the bed.
It was the picture perfect romantic candlelight decor. She had everything ready, nothing out of place and ready for the show.
On cue, just as the clock strikes 11:30 pm, the front door of the apartment opened and Sofia could hear footsteps entering. It was going towards the livingroom.
The strange thing that Sofia noticed was that there were sounds of people talking. Ben had brought someone home with him. As time passed, the sound of people talking increased. He had brought home a group of people.
Sofia not expecting anyone other than Ben, began panicking. Should she go on with her plan or just go out and celebrate the happy occasion for tonight and get to the plan later?
After debating the pros and cons of both the options, Sofia went with the latter. She will go and just celebrate Ben's birthday tonight and when everyone leaves she will continue where she left off her surprise birthday gift.
