Chapter 382: Painful Isn't It

Rui Fei smiled gleefully as he gazed at his father saying, "Painful isn't it?"
Emperor Rui quietened down by biting his lower lip preventing himself from making any further noises. He valued his pride so much that he would rather fake being strong than satisfy Rui Fei with his obvious discomfort. But either way, this cub knew this man was in even more pain than he experienced when he was locked up in that dungeon.
Rui Fei chuckled as he squatted down watching his father with keen interest. "You know what?... I am glad you get to experience what each and every one of your children experienced, what every woman you brutally raped and murdered felt. I am sure the Huishe clan would peel your skin little by little until nothing is left. Even then they won't let you die."
After saying this he grasped the bars of the dungeon as his head slid in between them with a pleasant smile. After a moment of silence emperor, Rui who had his head lowered suddenly raised it as he chuckled like he had lost his mind.
Blood seeped down into his eye from the open wound on his forehead. A good chunk of his skin had been peeled giving off a horrific sight but Rui Fei wasn't at all shaken by this sight.
Instead, he scrutinized his father who was laughing maniacally. The grin on his face stiffened as that sinister laugh grew loud and louder echoing in the stuffy dungeon. Rui Fei's eye twitched as he watched his father laugh like he had lost his mind.
Just as he was about to ask what was funny Emperor Rui looked him dead in the eyes and said, "You think you are any different from me?... Hahaha, Ah-Fei let me enlighten you."
As he said this he scooched over as though to draw closer to his son. The clanking sounds of the chains echoed in the dungeon but he didn't get far. The chains limited his range of movement.
With blood seeping out of his split lip he said, "You are my son..... that means you are just like me. Haven't you noticed that something resides in you, something that scares the heck out of you?"
Rui Fei's expression remained unchanged at his words but his mind was a mess. How could he have not noticed? But he made a decision long ago never to admit it thus he didn't respond to his father's inquisition.
Emperor Rui didn't care for his response as he seemed to expect it. Moving his torso forward he said, "That obsession... the feeling that your life won't be whole until you achieve that goal. I know, I know for a fact you have felt it before... My obsession was and has always been power. I would do anything to get it thus I had no problem doing what I did."
He licked the blood on his split lip and said, "How about you little cub?... What is your obsession?" The moment he asked that question Rui Fei's chest tightened as a slight crack appeared on his rigid expression.
A bright unrestrained smile appeared on Emperor Rui's face as a glint of excitement flashed in his eyes. "Your obsession is on that Qilin spawn.... and the longer you fail to attain him..... the deeper you fall in that rabbit hole. That darkness inside you will spread until it occupies your everything."
Straightening his back with the clanking of the latrion chains he continued, "You are as obsessed with Ji Yao as much as I was obsessed with power and now that you are worlds apart..... is it going to take another five decades for you to open the portal and finally be with him?"
With his head tilted to the side he continued, "Even then... would they let you be with the enemy? Ha... haha..... Fei Fei, don't be stupid." The smile on his face fell as he said this.
Soon his eyes devoid of a soul turned maniacal as he said, "You are just like your daddy Fei Fei and soon you will be in my position once they notice you are just like your daddy, hahaha I can't wait for that moment hahaha."
Each word he spoke was like a stab in Rui Fei's heart as he stared at him fixedly. He felt unbearable pressure build up in his chest. It was as though the words his father spoke were accumulating in his chest to the brink of exploding.
Clutching his chest tightly he attempted to hold back the storm of emotions whirling up within him. He felt an inconceivable urge to burst out his emotions but he restrained it with great struggle. As a consequence, thereof his eyes stung from the tears threatening to come out.
His eyes reddened as he sat down on the ground the darkness in his aether spreading. "I am your father whether you like it or not and I will tell you the truth.... They don't have the same urgency as you have to open that door but you, you on the other hand can't rest until that portal opens. If not your obsession will consume you, give you sleepless nights and destroy your mind until you fulfil it."
"Hehehe....," he laughed when he felt that familiar, rich sinister energy oozing out of his son. It seemed because of his Huishe genes the effect had already taken root and it was even worse than when it took hold of emperor Rui. This revelation had him so amused that he couldn't hold back his laughter.

Hearing his insidious laughter Rui Fei who was already hanging on the wire about to lose his mind immediately lost his shit.
