“Oronia wishes to join our party,” I said to Cyrena and Faye as we began to walk to the town. The new boots were a bit uncomfortable as I walked. I was going to have to get used to them.

“Oh really?” Faye said with a smile at the Rabika who was walking beside her. “I would love to have her with us.”

“Are you aware of where we are heading to?” Cyrena asked Oronia.

“Yes, I told her,” Marian said. “She is eager to get revenge for what happened to her home just as I am for Wandermere village.”

“What happened at your home?” Faye asked Oronia. Oronia went on to tell the others her story and what happened with the dark mages that came across her meadow. Faye held her hand and gave it a firm reassuring squeeze.

“Raizel has rained down so much destruction on the lives of many throughout this world,” Cyrena said in a serious tone. “I pray that we can bring an end to it especially with your help, James.”

“Why me?” I asked in surprise. “Surely, it can’t just be my semen!”

“That may be a big part of it but as I said before you were brought here for something great and I think it has to do with the Demon Queen,” Cyrena said. She had that same wild hopeful look in her eyes that I had found quite infectious. “I am sure that there is something yet to be discovered that you are capable of.”

I didn’t know what to say. I adjusted the hood over my face to make sure that I was concealed as we neared the town. I could see several women moving about with various pails and bags in their arms. A woman on a horse sidled up to us.

“You have returned again! With new companions as well,” the elven woman said. She was dressed in loose fitting clothes that were similar to what I was wearing. She looked at us and her eyes lingered on Oronia for a moment. I figured it was her first time seeing a Rabika.

“Yes. They were traveling behind us but were able to find their way here,” Cyrena said. “We were wondering if there is any lodging for us to sleep tonight?”

“And where can we dine?” Marian asked.

“If you head to the Jetta Inn, you will find beds and a dining hall. We rarely have visitors and you will find that you may be the only ones there tonight,” the elven woman said.

“Thank you,” Cyrena said. We began to walk up the main road. I saw other women that were dressed in robes that were similar to mine. Many of them had their hoods up as well. I was happy to finally blend in in this strange world. We walked by a stable where several horses were being groomed by several elven women. They looked at us with welcoming smiles as we walked by.

We arrived at the inn and stepped inside. It was nice and warm inside. There was a spacious area where I saw several tables with benches underneath them. Several elven women were sitting and eating. There was a second floor where I saw that there were many doors. A clerk stood behind a counter. She was middle aged and was reading a book.

We approached the counter and I saw that it was a book about plants. I wondered how interesting the book was because the clerk was thoroughly engrossed in it. It wasn’t until Cyrena cleared her throat loudly did the clerk look up at us.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I was distracted,” she said with a pleasant smile. She looked at Oronia in surprise. “Oh, you’re so cute! I haven’t seen a Rabika come through here in many days!”

Oronia blushed. Her face became a pinkish color. “When was the last time you saw my kind?”

“Oh, it must have been when I was a wee girl of 24 or so. She was just as cute as you, if I remember correctly,” the clerk said. This made Oronia blush even harder.

“Yeah, she is a real cutie,” Faye said with a smile.

“Are there any rooms available?” Cyrena asked the clerk.

“Yes. Every room is available!” The clerk said in excitement. “There hasn’t been a traveler here in some time. I can offer you the biggest room here. It has six beds. Two of them are quite large for the lovers among you.”

Cyrena laughed. “Thank you. We will take it.”

“Here is the key and it is the first door on your right when you head up the stairs.” The clerk handed Cyrena a key.

“Thank you. What is the meal for tonight?”

“We have cow liver soup served with bread.”

My stomach growled in response. I was very hungry now.

“We’ll each take a bowl,” Cyrena said.

“Ok. I’ll let the cook know. Why don’t you all get settled in and the food will be ready for you when you come back down,” The clerk said.

“Ok, thank you,” Cyrena said. We all headed up the stairs to the room. Cyrena opened the door and we stepped inside. It was a large room with six beds and a small desk. Toward the back of the room were two large wooden tubs. There was a large window that looked out onto the main road below.

“James, you should keep your hood on while we eat downstairs,” Cyrena said as she placed her bag down on a bed. “Also, try not to talk or speak in a feminine voice. We can’t risk anyone seeing you.”

“Do you think there are dark mages here?” I asked her with a shiver.

“I don’t know but we need to stay alert and not take any chances,” Cyrena said.

“Ok,” I said with a firm nod.
