Arc 5 Chapter 5

As soon as they returned to their cave, the Snow-Toothed Beast hurriedly pounced and Shen Jiayan was pressed under its body. A furry face leaned over to kiss and lick him in extreme enthusiasm.

Shen Jiayan rubbed the Snow-Toothed Beast’s head and laughed so hard that he couldn’t breathe, “Okay, let me go!”

The Snow-Toothed Beast was still relentless. Its head was rubbing against the side of Shen Jiayan’s neck, looking like a spoiled child. Its paws kept on pulling Shen Jiayan’s hand, to make him put his hand on its own head. It’s appearance was completely begging for pats.

Using the light of the setting sun, Mo glanced at the one man and one beast pair, who were unscrupulously playing. He did not speak, but his body unconsciously released a cold pressure.

Shen Jiayan totally did not notice it. He was just busy giving the Snow-Toothed Beast some pats. While he did these, his eyes seemed to bring a sky filled with stars; they were brilliant and dazzling, making people unable to move their eyes away.

The Snow-Toothed Beast released some purring sounds from its throat in comfort. Its blue eyes closed gently and its tail was fluttering in the air. It showed a very comfortable look.

Mo glanced at the Snow-Toothed Beast again. His hand movements were not slow, as he was preparing to skewer the bugs they brought back. Some bugs needed to be processed, so he slowly peeled off the shells of those bugs after he cut open their bellies. While doing that, he looked at the Snow-Toothed Beast, lying on Shen Jiayan, with deep eyes.

There’s a murderous aura! All of the fur on the Snow-Toothed Beast’s tail immediately stood up.

The Snow-Toothed Beast opened its eyes and warily looked around.

It happened to see Mo raising his eyebrows at it. Mo was staring daggers at the Snow-Toothed Beast in front of him, without any expression on his face. The bug was twitching a few times under his knife and it finally motionlessly died completely.

The Snow-Toothed Beast’s limbs softened and it almost laid flat on the ground.

Shen Jiayan had not yet returned to his senses when he suddenly saw the Snow-Toothed Beast slinking down. It aggrievedly looked at Shen Jiayan, then slowly went towards the entrance of the cave. Its back was unspeakably lonesome.

Shen Jiayan got up and looked at Mo in confusion, “Why did it leave?”

Mo certainly knew that he was the perpetrator, but he also showed a puzzled look in a timely way, “I’m not sure. Perhaps a strange beast, like the Snow-Toothed Beast, longs for freedom more, I guess?”

“Really?” Shen Jiayan glanced at the direction of the cave entrance with a look of reluctance on his face, “Then will it come back?”

“I don’t think so.” Mo’s eyelashes drooped down, hiding the dark aura that slipped through his eyes, “Come here and help me with these bugs.”

“Okay.” Shen Jiayan patted the dust off his body and walked over to see the strangely-shaped bugs. Instead of showing a look of horror on his face, he was somehow eager, “How should I deal with them?”

Mo stuffed the knife into Shen Jiayan’s hand, then he encircled Shen Jiayan from behind. Mo held Shen Jiayan’s hand and meticulously taught him, “Look, this part is its head and this part is its belly. Slowly cut from its head down to here. Dig out what’s inside and it’ll be considered dealt with.”

“You try it!” Mo handed the knife to Shen Jiayan.

Shen Jiayan responded. He grabbed a bug and started his attempt to cut its stomach. Unfortunately, the Nose Worm was too slimy. Most of the time, Shen Jiayan had not yet cut halfway before his cut became crooked or he let it break free. None of his attempts were successful.

At present, the Support Level of the netizens in the Star Network also had a subtle change.

Bai Tian was no longer First in the main ranking.

The scene where he questioned An Xin earlier, always felt a bit fishy in the eyes of those people who used their heads. Many netizens thought that he was unworthy of Lan Ya, so his Support Level went down. In contrast, Lan Ya moved up to First in the rankings.

On top of that, his previous performance in the face of the bugs was not even as good as Ailee’s (Ai Li). This also made the netizens faintly hold him in contempt.

Hence, Ailee (Ai Li) was ranked ahead of him and he fell into Third Place.

An Xin’s Support Level also rose to negative 30 million. The nouveau riche guy, who changed his username from “An Xin scram out of Survivor” to “An Xin’s Anti-fan1” was so impressive that while criticizing An Xin, he would also give him Meteor Showers, which amounted to approximately 10 million.

There were even new fans who were purely into good-looking faces and could not bear to see their idol being bad-mouthed, so they cautiously and conscientiously helped improve his Support Level.

Meanwhile, Mo’s Support Level dropped to negative 35 million, ranking First in the bottom.

The fans who supported Mo, were originally into his cold-heartedness and his single-minded performance in the game. Now that the halo was removed, they found that he was also into appearances and would also brainlessly help An Xin. Naturally, they were also angry at him and turned to mercilessly give him more negative points.

But what was odd was that although the majority of the netizens in the Star Network hated An Xin and Mo, they, including those netizens who hate them, couldn’t help but go to their channels to watch them for some reason.

These netizens, known for bad mouthing the two of them, were more or less embarrassed to see their names appear in the commentary. As a result, the commentary was silent and no one was chatting.

The netizens just quietly watched the screen. They watched as Shen Jiayan kept picking up one Nose Worm after another, trying and failing in various miserable ways.

Among the netizens who were watching in their seats at that moment, some were tearing up in laughter, some were stifling their laughter with flushed faces, and some were simply pounding their own nutrition cabins at home in laughter… However, everyone was tacitly silent in the commentary and assumed an aloof attitude.

Mo also couldn’t bear to watch anymore. With one hand, he clutched Shen Jiayan’s left hand and taught him how to hold down the head of the bug. With the other hand, he held Shen Jiayan’s hand with the knife and secretly used some force.

The Nose Worm, that was incessantly escaping just now, was evenly sliced from the center of its belly before it could even struggle.

Mo just grabbed Shen Jiayan’s hand and methodically handled the bugs in the nest.

Eventually, some netizens couldn’t hold back their desire to complain, “Why do you have to hold An Xin’s hand? Don’t tell me that he really never thought that he could handle it faster on his own?”

As soon as the first comment appeared, the netizens on Star Network were also unable to bear it.

“Assuming that the speed of Mo in processing a bug was one bug for every three seconds, and the speed of Mo while teaching An Xin to process bugs was at a rate of one bug every fifteen minutes, how quickly does An Xin need to process each bug to make up for the previous time wasted?”

“Question: What was the exact reason why the Snow-Toothed Beast left the cave? A. Intimidated by Mo’s jealousy; B. The answer is A; C. The answer appears to be A; D. Apart from A, what else could be the answer?”

“I don’t want to know the answer right now. I just want to reduce both of these people’s Support Level.”

……

Just as Shen Jiayan’s and Mo’s Support Level continued to decline for some reason, the Snow-Toothed Beast returned. In its mouth, there was even a prey whose throat had just been bitten through.

Shen Jiayan immediately threw off Mo’s hand and rushed over to hug the Snow-Toothed Beast, “So you went out to hunt! I thought you won’t be coming back!”

The Snow-Toothed Beast intimately rubbed Shen Jiayan’s arm, then slowly approached Mo. It placed the prey down from its mouth and submissively called out lowly. Its eyes possessed clear intentions of swearing allegiance.

This strange beast actually thought that he resented it because it ate too much. So that’s why it went out to hunt?

Mo sneered coldly. However, seeing Shen Jiayan’s suddenly joyous expression, he still chose to bear with it. Mo put the prey away and condescendingly reached out to touch the Snow-Toothed Beast’s head, expressing his acceptance to its allegiance.

The Snow-Toothed Beast blinked its eyes. When it could finally react, it cheerfully ran back to Shen Jiayan. One man and one beast, they once again delightedly played over there.

Mo silently gripped the knife in his hand tightly: What should I do? I felt increasingly displeased as I looked at that Snow-Toothed Beast.

An unhappy Mo led to the bug’s suffering under his hand——cutting open their chests was the most common. Much more miserable were those that were dismembered by pulling off the head and the limbs, cut in half, then continuously sliced and cut into tiny slivers.

Mo looked over to Shen Jiayan’s side while he was dealing with the Pot-Bellied Worm. When he was cutting its belly open, there was a small accident——some liquid accidentally splashed on his hand. It was just that this kind of injury was simply insignificant to Mo, who had a great healing ability.

Mo blankly stared at the wound on his hand and thought for a while. Subsequently, he screamed out without any fluctuations in his voice, “Hiss, it hurts.”

“What’s wrong?” Shen Jiayan heard it and ran over. He grabbed Mo’s hand and carefully examined it all around, “Did you get injured somewhere while handling the bugs?”

Mo turned over to the back of his hand and showed Shen Jiayan the two small inconspicuous red dots burned on it, “It hurts here.” His voice was faintly aggrieved.

“You wait a moment. I’ll get water to clean it for you.” Shen Jiayan said, then ran towards the cave containing clean clear water allocated by the Program Team.

Mo originally intended to just attract Shen Jiayan’s attention. As for the wound, even he himself simply did not care about it. Mo was just about to refuse him but when Shen Jiayan brought the water over, he once again felt the familiar energy from the water.

Mo’s eyes slightly flickered. The words of refusal were eventually not spoken out.

Shen Jiayan carefully grabbed Mo’s hand and slowly poured over the water mixed with the space water, “Does it feel better?”

It was more than a bit better. The moment Shen Jiayan poured the water over it, the wound had already recovered with no traces left. Mo calmly hid his hands to a blind spot, where the drone wouldn’t be able to shoot, “It’s much better.”

Shen Jiayan stuffed a bottle of water into Mo’s hand. “If you get hurt somewhere again, rinse it with this water. It may be good for the recovery of the wound. You keep this bottle of water beside you later.”

“Okay.” Mo responded with a mute voice.

Mo covered his wrist and slightly frowned: Strange, why did this spot begin to faintly heat up when I touched the water a moment ago?
