C26 – 0923 ◇ Hiria

It seems that it will soon be Sakura-kun’s birthday.

The girls were making a lot of noise. I don’t even think he told them about it, but they all knew about it.

It seemed that there was going to be a celebration party unrelated to him, and Kawai-san and the others were excited about the after-school party.

According to what I’ve heard, last year the celebration was somehow mixed gender. Furthermore, I heard that a girl who started going out with someone she met at Sakura-kun’s birthday party, which was held without his knowledge, quietly left the association. The ” Watching Over association” is pretty loose. I wonder what Sakura-kun is all about.

Sakura-kun’s birthday is also a number that I am familiar with.

The number “0923” is the number used in Nekura-kun’s address. I didn’t ask him what the number was. Was it his birthday, the end of his phone number, or the day he decided on his address? I don’t know much about Nekura-kun.

In the end, I haven’t been able to get in touch with Nekura-kun since the beginning of summer vacation, and I haven’t seen him.

I wonder if I’ll ever see him again.

Until now, I’ve been somewhat reserved, but if I can’t see him, I might as well try to find him. Or rather, I have no choice but to look for him. Because I want to see him. Even if he’s sick of me, I want to at least hear his reasons, and say goodbye to him.

I ate a sandwich in the courtyard.

I was talking to Manamin about Nekura-kun as a way of organizing information. I’ve always wanted to talk about love with my friends, but since it was an all-girls school, we didn’t have much time to do so.

Manamin seemed to love that kind of talk and listened to me with a twinkle in her eye.

“Do you think it’s strange that I like someone whose face and name I don’t even know?”

“What, why? It’s so romantic, isn’t it? I love it! It’s so nice!”

“I’m a little embarrassed..”

“Why? No need to be embarrassed! Do you want to talk about the moment I became Sakura-kun’s servant?”

“You’re talking about the button. I’ve heard that story a million times.”

Manamin wrapped her hands around her cheeks as she giggled. Is she a maiden or what?

“I’ve never talked about love with my friends before!”

“Ehh, really?”

“It’s not part of my character, so no one’s ever talked to me about it.”

“I see.”

“It’s fun talking to you, Sachyun.”

“Yeah. I’m happy to talk to you too.”

Manamin was still a little overworked. We both put our palms together and shook them from side to side in delight.

“Manami has a wider reach than me, right? Can you think of anyone who seems like Nekura-kun?”

“Hmm, not in my class at first.”

“Why?”

“Because there are no loners in my class!”

“Oh.”

“What about you, Sachyun?”

“In our class also… I’m the only one I guess… And no boy spends recess alone either…”

I felt a little sad, and Manamin laughed, “Haha…”.

“No, don’t be discouraged! You’re just down to two candidates! We’ll get there if we look for the rest!”

“I guess so…”

Manamin took me to look at the classes in order during recess again. Classes 1 and 7 are excluded, so there are only five classes left. If he’s not here, the possibility of him being a third-year student increases.

Manamin has a broader profile than I do, and her friends from her previous classes are scattered throughout the other classes, so classes 3 and 4 are almost out of it. I’m not sure about the other two.

“He’s not here…”

“No friends, male student. Probably not in any clubs, works part-time, what else?”

“Ah, he’s not popular! Very, very unattractive!”

“Unfortunately, most boys are not popular, and the ones who are, are few and far between… What else?”

“Mm, he’s funny and kind.., maybe he has a face that children like, he talks softly.. he’s nice…, and he’s very good at making rice balls …”

“I don’t want any nonsense!”

Manami gave me a shove.

But that rice ball really made me fall in love with him all over again. It was so good that I almost proposed to him.

Speaking of delicious, the mackerel miso set meal at Sakura-kun’s house. It was also excellent. It was a taste that penetrated all five organs of my body, as I had grown tired of the Western food my mother taught me in cooking classes.

I glanced at Manamin. She looked at me blankly, but I smiled and covered it up.

I haven’t told anyone that I met Sakura-kun during the summer vacation.

I thought about telling Manamin, but decided not to. She’s also a fan of Sakura-kun.

I was rescued from the disaster that had befallen me that day by Sakura-kun. And yet, I felt bad about telling his fans about his house, which is considered inviolable.

My impression of Sakura-kun has changed a lot.

He was much easier to talk to than I expected, and I relied on him after that.

But I was still too scared to talk to him casually because people were watching our relationship, and I was afraid of the extremists that the watch group had mentioned. I was not interested enough to force myself to become friends with him.

That’s why I’m going to take the taste of that day’s mackerel miso with me to my grave.

After school, Manamin brought in a guy who looked like he hadn’t eaten enough meat, “Is this the guy?”

“Wha, wha, what is it with you people?”

The person who was caught by Manamin was scurrying around, trying to escape from her. He indeed moves like an animal that is quite unfamiliar to people.

When I asked Manamin what made her think that he was Nekura-kun, she said, “He looked dark and unattractive, so I brought him here”. The person’s face turned red as Manamin held him captive, and he trembled as he clenched his glasses and gritted his teeth.

“Um…, do you have any friends?”

The person’s face turned red and he shouted at the question I asked to make sure.

“O-of course I have friends! Rude! Rude-Camarinae!”

The latter part of his voice was high-pitched and distinctive. This was different. I’m not one to remember people’s voices, but it was too different.

After thinking calmly, I realized what I had said.

“Aah! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”

I hurriedly apologized, and when Manamin released him,  he said, “PIGGAAH!” “Gyuuneeeeeee!” He threatened me and Manamin in turn with a mysterious yell and then disappeared at a great speed.

I later found out that the boy was the student council president.

Not that it was because of that, but I felt sorry for him. Nekura-kun is probably not the type to be the student body president.

The guy with the glasses is also not a good choice for the student body president.

“Manamin, try not to bring in too much… force.”

“Yeah…”

The search for Nekura-kun did not go well.

I wonder where the heck Nekura-kun is.

On the night of a holiday, I returned to my room and looked at my phone, which I had left unattended, to find a text message.

The subject line was, “It’s Nekura“.

It’s Nekura-kun! It sounds like a message from a very dark person, but it’s Nekura-kun!

I opened the text with great nervousness.

The main text was..: [Nebebahumbaba!]

Shouldn’t you have something else to say before you reply now!

I chuckled at the thought and type, [Gooeygooey butter! Can we meet tomorrow? ]. I hurriedly sent him the message. I can ask him everything I wanted to know in person.
