C7 – Cleaning The Principal’s Room ◆ Nekura

Hiria-chan is a very nice girl.

It’s soothing to talk to her. She doesn’t have any friends, so she lets this boring guy be her friend. Such a poor girl. Even though she’s such a nice girl.

I don’t think it’s just me, I don’t think she wants to be seen either. Maybe it’s because she has a complex about her looks. A girl that good, even if she is as ugly as a monster, I want to hug her and tell her how cute she is. I don’t think I could really do that as long as the gender of the person is female.

I felt a faint fluttering in my chest and hurriedly canceled it out. I’ve gone to a lot of trouble to make friends with her, but if I bring unnecessary emotions into it, she’ll hate me.

At the end of morning homeroom, Masuda asked,

“Who’s willing to help clean the principal’s office after school?”

No one raised their hand.

Although Masuda-sensei was, at best, a friendly teacher, he was by far the sloppiest, hairiest, and roughest of all the teachers. He didn’t mind asking us to clean the pots in the staff room or tidy up around his desk. Some of the boys would say that they were called in and when they got there, and they were simply asked for a shoulder massage. But he is very careful about it because asking girls to do such things could be considered sexual harassment.

Because he has been at this school for so long, he can do whatever he wants. There are rumors that he is related to the principal, or that he is a relative of the chancellor. But his students all have unusually high growth rates in the subjects he teaches, and his performance as a teacher is said to be quite famous. So the reason may be rather simple. He’s also a very compassionate man who is hard to hate.

But when you go there to help, the teacher often has nothing to do. Or, rather, that’s the case all the time. Everyone knew that these days, so they all looked at him coldly. But the teacher didn’t flinch because of that. He’s so hairy, it’s no wonder he has a heart filled with hair.

“So today is the seventh day of the month. …… Hee hee… Kondo …… has club activities. …… Sakura! Saionji! You two are the class representatives! I’ll leave it you two.”

Why did this happen?

I was surprised to see Saionji-san look at me for a moment and raise her eyebrows just slightly. Maybe it’s just my imagination, but she seemed uncomfortable. No, I am also not a fan of cleaning.

The principal is a small, mild-mannered old man. He’s a little fuzzy. He looked at me and Saionji-san and said with a smile.

“Sorry about this! You see, when I saw the dust on the edge of this frame, it suddenly bothered me a lot! Also, on the shelf, you know! It’s covered in dust. I’ll give you sweets when you’re done!”

Apparently, he suddenly became curious about a small area that he doesn’t usually touch when cleaning. He should have asked the cleaning staff or the contractor who usually comes to do the cleaning, but he decided to ask Masuda-sensei to do it for him.

Masuda-sensei left the cleaning kit behind and started to leave.

“Sensei, where are you going?”

“I’m going to take a nap …… kohon… I mean I have to make some questions for the exam. Let me know when you’re done.”

Hmm?

I watched his back as he left, and turned around to see Saionji-san holding a brush. She was patting the brush against some mysterious shield or trophy-like object, but not much came off. It just scattered dust.

“You see…….”

When I called out to her, she glared at me sullenly.

Did I do something wrong?

“You know, wouldn’t it be quicker to move all the stuff off the top, wipe it down, and wipe down the shelves …… and then put them back?”

Saionji-san blinked, and she looked at the shelf and me.

Then she silently started unloading the shelves onto the floor. No reply. I feel like she hates me.

At first, the principal sat on the principal’s chair and watched smiling. But when the dust scattered, he said, “I’ll open the window,” and opened the window wide only to evacuate somewhere.

After cleaning in silence for a while, a person came in through the open door with a boisterous noise.

“Hey! Souji-kun!”

“Yabusaka, huh? What are you doing here?”

Didn’t he tell me not to go to see him for a while?

“To watch cleaning!”

He said in an evil voice that sounded like it had a heart mark at the end, laughed, and looked at Saionji-san.

“If you’re here, help me.”

“To watch cleaning.”

This time, he said forcefully, emphasizing the word “to watch”.

“You’re kind of creepy. Go home.”

“What’s with you, Souji? Aren’t we friends!”

Saionji-san glanced at us.

“Ah .. I’m Yabusaka Toru, a friend of Sakura-kun”

In response to Yabusaka’s tense greeting, Saionji-san replied, “Hah” without inflection. Pushing Yabusaka back.

“Hey, Yabusaka, stop it!”

“Why ?”

I don’t like Saionji-san or anything, but I feel like she needs to get along with someone more suited to her. Yabusaka is too much of a bad match for her. I don’t want her to go out with Yabusaka, even if he’s her 134238th boyfriend. It’s a selfish fantasy, though.

But not to worry, Yabusaka didn’t talk to her anymore. Or you could say he couldn’t. He was a bigger idiot than I thought. She was difficult to talk to even if she wasn’t, but today she was somewhat grumpy and had a wary expression on her face. It seems like he would have to be very brazen to cut in here.

Surely her forty-nine boyfriends must be a fierce bunch.

Yabusaka wandered around for a while, but eventually said, “Excuse me,” and slipped away. It was a spectacularly depressing moment.

I managed to finish the cleaning and sank on the sofa at the reception desk.

Saionji-san saw me and silently sat down on the opposite end of the sofa. She tried to keep the maximum distance from me. I guess she doesn’t like me…….

” I’ll go get the teacher.”

I said and stood up. She was looking in the wrong direction and completely ignoring me. It’s not my imagination or anything anymore. She hates me. What the hell have I gotten myself into?

I went to the staff room and woke up Masuda sensei, who was asleep on the couch in the back, and told him that the cleaning was finished.

Saionji-san was sitting in the principal’s office, just as she had been when I left. When I sat at the opposite end of the couch from her, and she stared at me for a moment. ……Even though I couldn’t sit any farther away from her.

“Good work, good work”

The principal came back, checked the picture frames and shelves like a little mother-in-law, smiled, and nodded, “Unn! “.

A little later, Masuda-sensei came back with a paper cup and a plastic bottle of tea in his hand, saying, “Good work”.

Since there were two teachers, Saionji-san made a hesitant face and moved next to me, leaving a lot of space. I knew she would be reluctant, so I moved even closer to the edge.

As promised, the principal brought out a box of tea snacks and opened it.

The snack was a steamed bun. The sweet taste soaked into my tired body. I swallowed down the sweetness with green tea. I was hungry, so it tasted even better.

Warako-chan said that Saionji-san usually eats only cakes. So, I wondered if she would eat such an unrefined Japanese snack. And then I saw a snack going into her small mouth.

“Delicious …….”

Saionji-san whispered. I feel a slight sense of familiarity in her voice. I mean, it sounds familiar like deja vu. The voice that made me feel warm and fuzzy was cute, as it should be, so maybe it resembled someone from the entertainment industry.

I glanced over at Saionji-san and saw a piece of steamed bun bean paste on the edge of her mouth.

I wanted to tell her about the spectacularly unsuitable decoration, but I couldn’t muster the courage.

“Yuria-chan, your mouth is stained.”

It was the principal who pointed it out, calling her by her first name in a familiar manner.

She smiled a little, as if embarrassed, and wiped her mouth with her fingertips. She was so cute and innocent that I couldn’t help but stare at her with my eyes wide open.

One of the reasons why Saionji-san is called the “Ice Princess” is because of the legend that she never smiles. I heard that no one has ever seen her smile. Did she laugh at this kind of thing? The principal is amazing. Maybe he’s a very popular person.

As I was admiring her with astonishment, she noticed my gaze and glared at me angrily, and I darted my gaze and the consciousness away again.

I kept thinking about the crabs I had seen in the ocean when I was little.
