Yulio doesn't know all this.

He doesn't know about Raishti's last thoughts, nor his reasoning behind betraying his own kingdom. All he knows is....

There is a grievance in heart left that will never be satisfied now.

"Raishti... cannot be dead. No..." His beady wolf eyes skirted restlessly from the thought. "How dare he be dead without me killing him? I.... I will not allow it!"

He banged his head again and again on the cave wall. "HE CANNOT! HE CANNOT BE DEAD! NO! NO! NO!"

Now he knew what his character, Rogue, had felt on a very personal level. Azul is dead, long long, ago... and there's nothing that can fill the hole that he left after he betrayed him.

Thunders boomed outside, trees fell. There's a threat of a forest fire. But even that would be a mere small spark compared to the blazing unresolved wrath of a man-hound.

"Oh my." Vladstin said without any hint of surprise.

Meanwhile, the two humans are still on edge.

"Hah... Ha....." Yulio held his bloody head with his paws, dyeing his black fur into burgundy. He continued banging a bit, until he collapsed to the floor.

He laid on the ground with a whimper, like a dog whose owner had died and is now all alone, no choice but to become astray. His back was turned to the small people, trembling a little, curling his body tightly while scratching the wall. Slowly... shakily...

Sangfroid whispered to his two companions. "We should go. Now. While he's distracted."

Vladstin just chuckled, not minding this and more focused on the drama unfolding in front of him. "Is he seriously crying because he learned his murderer died? And he dares to say I'm the one who has gone soft?"

"Shh, don't say that!" Leron frantically hushed him, covering his mouth. "You might anger him."

Vladstin just took his hand away. "His already angry beyond compare, my prince."

Leron reddened, feeling like the hand that's been held by this cold vampire had gone on fire and immediately took it back. "M-My prince?"

"Anyway, Sangfroid, it is still storming out there." Vladstin ignored him and turned to the hunter. "I'd rather face a war with this single puny Yule-dog for this territory than have you sleep in the rain, then get ill. Or did you like me taking care of you so much from before?"

"No. It's just that it's too dangerous." Sangfroid said. "And again, lower your voice. We don't want him to hear---"

"I already heard everything. I'm a man-hound, I can hear even the sound of you blinking." Yulio wiped his eyes, standing up. "You may stay here. I have no use staying in this location any further. Tomorrow, when the rain lets up, I will leave and never return in this cave."

"How are you sure that the rain will stop tomorrow?" Vladstin asked curiously. "Is it also part of your enhanced ability as a man-hound?"

"Some things you just know, Vlad. There are just some things that you can sense already...." Yulio looked at the blood dripping in his head. "Yet we never listen to it."

He went to the small pool inside the cave to wash it. He seems relatively calm now, like a dog that is just enjoying his time bathing and drinking in the water. The tiny trio really finds his behavior strange.

He turned to them, annoyed by their stares, and growled. "Don't you brats have better things to do? Like sleeping?"

"I still don't trust this, Prince Leron." Sangfroid gripped the prince's hand and whispered as hushed as he can. "What if he kills us in our sleep----"

"You have Vladstin, don't you?" Yulio shook himself from head to toe, causing his fur to become puffer up, looking less menacing and more silly than before. "And I heard a thunder strike a tree just now. You're more in danger outside with the hurricane than you are with me."

"I'll revert to my human form soon....." Yulio looked up in the night sky above them hidden by the cave's roof. "The moon is waning. Do you have any extra clothes I can borrow?"

The three just looked at each other, confounded.

Yulio the man-hound just rolled his eyes. "What, do you want to send me outside as soon as I become human, cold, and naked? That would be fair, I don't mind."

"N-No." Leron spoke first. "That was not our intention..... or at least, I could speak for me and Sangfroid. I was just checking which of us will be closer to your size."

"Oh." Yulio seemed genuinely surprised by Leron's kindness. He was grappling him and squishing him to death just a few minutes ago.

He suddenly felt conflicted. He is a monster, after all, it's uncommon for monsters to feel guilt. So he waved the feeling away. "I think the archer's clothes would not be a bad fit."

Sangfroid narrowed his eyes, but since Leron said so, he prepared some shirt and pants and went forward, laying it by the man-hound's feet.

Vladstin clicked his tongue. "How lucky, Being able to wear Sangfroid's clothes."

The others ignored this eccentric vampire, and went to settle themselves. Soon, Yulio did detransform, and Sangfroid and Leron busied themselves preparing themselves than to watch this. The cave is spacious after all, the air just suddenly grown heavier but once the detransformation is over, it seems to lighten again.

Perhaps it was because there was more space again, perhaps it was because everyone's heart became at peace. There is now a mutual silence as the now human Yulio also laid on the cave floor, very tired, and foot and head still bleeding. The bandage was unwrapped due to his increasing in size.

He winced, but tolerated it, leaning on the wall to close his eyes. But even when they were closed, he can't really sleep.

His mind kept traveling to that one man. The one who is dead too early.

H heard someone's footsteps approaching him, and saw Leron going over to give him some bedding he can spare. "How did you get that injury at your foot, by the way? It doesn't seem like an ordinary wound, it looked like.....a bite. But you turned out to be the man-hound  so..."

"Shark."

"Huh?"

"Shark." Yulio repeated lazily, taking the bedding from here. "Leave me alone."

Leron blinked, and went back to his companions, planning to take new strips of cloth to wrap on the leg. He questioned them. "Aren't we far from the sea? How can a shark attack here?"

"I travel faster than you all." Yulio still heard them, and he laid on his stomach on the thin sheets given to him. "Well, maybe not all of you. I do not know how fast Vlad is, but I bet not fast enough to catch up with my pack."

"Is that a challenge?" Vladstin grinned.

"Maybe." Yulio answered half-heartedly, but there was a semblance of a smile for a few milliseconds. " Anyway, it was an old wound, it reopened when I ran too fast after smelling humans in my cave."

"How did you get bitten by a shark?" Sangfroid asked, raising an eyebrow. "Shouldn't you have been able to fight it or dodge it?"

"That's a long story." Yulio grumbled lazily. "And the time for bedtime stories is over. Good night, kids. Don't be too noisy, even in this form, my hearing is still above average."

He did start to sleep, leaving the three to talk hushed among themselves. At least, two were trying. Vladstin didn't bother, perhaps out of spite, perhaps he simply doesn't care.

"Do you think he will report this to the King of Faldenhorf?" Leron asked.

"That may be a good thing, so that he would know of what King Casserome is hiding." Sangfroid said.

"But who's to say he is not in cahoots with this prince's bastard father?" Vladstin jerked his thumb to Leron. "He's willing to put a dozen former-Crescentian-turned-manhounds into hostage to be his goons, enslaving them with the silver and wolfsbane of his kingdom. Who's to say he wouldn't be interested in finding an invincible vampire lord with hundreds of puppets to do his bidding too?"

This idea caused Sangfroid to overthink again. "How will he be able to take control of you?"

Reading through his anxieties, Vladstin couldn't help but grin. "I don't know, but you Ilvedians do have a saying, 'With enough willpower, a man can turn the world upside down.' "

"I suppose all we could do is travel to the Hermit as fast we can, then. Let us hope he will give us protection....." Leron yawned, the exhaustion getting to him.

Sangfroid remembered that he was being crushed earlier, and checked on him. "Is there anything that hurt, Your Highness? If there is, just tell me. I can conjure any herb, and though I have no knowledge in medicine..." He gritted his teeth, not believing he would say this. "Vladstin does."

"Oh? You want me to be the healer of our odd group now?" Vladstin chuckled. "And tell me why should I heal my murderer?"

Leron bit his lip and looked away. "Sangfroid, there's no need for herbs. I'm fine, just tired. I'll sleep for a while."

He turned to go to his tent, and Sangfroid nodded. "Sleep well, Your Highness."

He smiled, feeling unsettled.

"Hm. There's too many loose threads to be discussed about our former friend-turned-enemy-turned-reluctant host." Vladstin picked a flower that somehow grew from Sangfroid's agitation earlier. "But... There's a time for that, and a time for rest."

That flower was a lavender.

Sangfroid held his hand up and scowled. "There's no need for that. I will sleep on my own accord."

Vladstin grinned. "Sleep well then, Sangfroid."

The man ignored him and Vladstin silently muttered 'Min Libitino' under his breath, adoringly.

He doesn't need to be a man-hound to hear it. He scoffed, and went to sleep....

....Only to have his dreams filled with annoying monsters like vampires, werewolves, and fairies chasing after a younger version of him and Prince Leron.. There was even a flying shark in it.
