The two strip their upper clothing and went down to under the strong, gushing waterfall.

Leron watched with fear for both their safety, hoping that they don't fight too hard. But both were stubborn and determined men, so he doesn't have much hope.

Vladstin was in total darkness with his eyes under a blindfold, and he felt the water over his head weighing him down. Still, he wore a mischievous grin.

He'll never lose.

Sangfroid was indifferent to this difficult terrain their in, and was ready to give it his all. He doesn't know the rules of wrestling though, so he asked Vladstin.

"How do we begin?"

"Huh!?" Vladstin asked. "I can't hear you from the noise!"

The waterfall really was so loud, and Sangfroid's voice was often too soft. So the Chief reluctantly went closer and spoke on Vladstin's ear.

"How shall we start? What are the rules?"

Seeing the close proximity of the two, Leron felt another pang of jealousy in his heart.

Vladstin felt it too, and grinned. He clasped on to Sangfroid's nape, speaking on his ear as well.

"We do whatever we want. Crescentian wrestling has no rules. You just have to get the sash of your opponent!"

Sangfroid narrowed his eyes. "But we don't have a sash!"

"My blindfold will do!" Vladstin said.

"But what about me?"

Vladstin grinned deviously, tracing his hand from Sangfroid's neck.... To his ear.... And then to his face....

"Your eye will do."

Hair rose from Sangfroid's arms when the vampire traced his claws all over him like that. He fought the urge to push him back or hit him. "What did you just say?"

"I said...." Vladstin whispered closer to him. "Your purple eye will do. If I manage to claw it out, I win."

The stakes had suddenly become higher. Sangfroid's heart beat like a caged animal in his chest, but he kept calm. This only added to his determination.

"Alright." He said. "I will do my best to win then."

He went on a fighting stance. "Whenever you're ready."

Vladstin was overjoyed by this determination, almost in a bit of a demented way. He gave a loud chuckle before yelling so loud as to let Leron hear—

"3.... 2... 1..... Fight!"

Sangfroid decided he would let Vladstin do the first attack. There was no movement from the both of them for about 10 seconds, before the vampire flashed his pearly whites and went to strike a punch on Sangfroid.

The young Chief Hunstman dodged it easily, then used his own fist to slam it on Vladstin's back!

The vampire didn't seem to be bothered by it and seemed to be rather enjoying it, and went forth to wrap his arms around Sangfroid's right leg to lift him and slam him into the dangerous waters full of rocks!

Before this could happen, Sangfroid put his weight on Vladstin's back, and they were locked in a tight position just like how most wrestling matches went.

It went on and on for almost half an hour. None of the men showed signs of giving up. Sangfroid has strong endurance and is a quick learner, judging Vladstin's patterns and actions. And the prince who used to call himself Crimson Wolf has experience.

It was a tight match, and Leron had grown increasingly anxious the more he watched it.

He doesn't even know which side he's betting on. He just wants it to be resolved peacefully.

They were tussling so much and even went underwater a couple of times, and his heart was deeply unsettled. He clenched his teeth together, jaws getting numb from being tightly shut.

The flow of water started to grow stronger, and he can't see them anymore. Leron had pinch himself and remind himself again and again that everything will be alright....

But he can't take it anymore.

"Vladstin! Sangfroid! Are you alright!?" He jumped into the freezing cold water, running against the strong current with his clothes still on. "Answer me!"

There was no answer, nor any movement behind the shower of water.....

When suddenly, Sangfroid rose up, blood dripping on his face.

"You!!!!" He yelled, covering it with his hand.

Vladstin came right after him, his laughter chiming endlessly.

"I got you, didn't I? Haha!" Vladstin chuckled with glee.

He.....

"Sangfroid you..." Leron's approached them with shaking hands.

Vladstin was no longer wearing a blindfold.

The blood on Sangfroid's face wasn't his. It was Vladstin's. The vampire smeared it all over him.

Leron was relieved, and even more so when he heard the vampire say:

"Congratulations. You won."

The vampire continued with a sneer. "Or did you really? After all, I get to drink your blood even when I lose! It's a win-win for me, ahaha!"

Sangfroid run his fingers on his hair, revealing his other dead, scarred eye that the palace hounds scratched when he was young. He looked so intimidating when it was out in the open.

"Prince Leron is safe. That's what matters to me."

In truth, when Vladstin pulled that maneuver of smearing blood on his face, his sharp claws almost grazing his eye, he panicked so much that he went to jab Vladstin enough to break his rib.

The vampire was knocked out into the water from the pain and fell, and that is when he took his chance to capture the blindfold.

But... It could be that Vladstin had planned to lose all along.

He did that to let Sangfroid win.

Sangfroid doesn't get it. What's so good about his blood? Didn't he say it tastes horrible compared to anything he ever tasted?

Leron was breathing deeply. "Sangfroid one.... That's good. But I need to know if any of you are hurt badly. We need to get back to the tent and take care of it."

Sangfroid turned to Vladstin, remembering the broken rib, but the vampire just smiled at Leron and said:

"Nothing hurts! We just had a really fun match! I'm so delighted with how well Sangfroid did, I want to do it again!"

"No." The Huntsman said plainly, walking away from the waterfall and back to the shore.

"Hehe!" Vladstin joined him, waddling in the water happily with a hand on his chest.

Leron found them both strange, but he was glad they're all good and joined them to get out of the water.

Bath time is over. Time for lunch.

He would have to dry his clothes and change into new ones. When changing, they go into separate tents. Vladstin just changed wherever he likes, behind bushes or trees.

Sometimes, he would 'accidentally' be caught by Sangfroid stark naked.....

Which is enough to put the former hunter into a bad mood.

They had lunch with the usual bouillabaisse, the fancy fish soup. Vladstin just watched Sangfroid eat with hands resting on his chin like a lovesick teen.

"Does the food taste good, Sangfroid?" Vladstin asked coquettishly.

Sangfroid just slurped from his spoon.

"I take that as a yes. It's Leron's cooking after all."

Another slurp.

"I hope your blood would taste as good as the food you eat." Vladstin grinned from ear to ear. "Where shall I drink from? Can I bite?"

"No." Sangfroid said plainly, still immersed in enjoying his fish soup. "You'll infect me."

"Then you'll slash yourself with a dagger again, won't you?" Vladstin said. "I want to drink from the neck."

"No. I'll die." He answered plainly again.

Leron was frowning the whole time they were having a conversation, and Sangfroid noticed it. He sat up.

"It's bad manners from Ilvedia to talk while eating. Wait when the meal is over." He said, and went beside Prince Leron.

"Thank you for the meal again, Your Highness."

Leron smiled. "It's nothing. And I told you to just call me Leron."

"Thank you, Leron." Sangfroid smiled back at him.

Vladstin cleared his throat. "Ahem! Didn't you just say it's bad manners to take while eating?"

Sangfroid gave him a death glare, and the two humans finished their meal under the crazy vampire's watchful gaze similar to that of a strict military general.

Once the meal is over, Sangfroid went to the river to get some water and clean the plates. Then, he went over to the annoying vampire to fulfill their deal and get his winning prize.

Which is not really a prize, because he gets to be drunk from by this vampire again.

"Let's do it somewhere farther from here." Sangfroid said with a scowl. "Prince Leron gets upset when seeing us together."

"Really? Why?" Vladstin asked with a head tilt.

Sangfroid doesn't know if he's pretending to be clueless or not. Still, he said it with much bitterness.

"He loves you." He admitted in defeat.

Vladstin's eyes widen in surprise.

Not because he didn't know this, but because Sangfroid was willing to tell him straight to the face.

"Is that so? I don't love him. I love death." Vladstin gave him mischievous look that is almost flirtatious.

Sangfroid didn't say anything about that and just walked through to find a clearing where they could get the blood-drinking over with.

He pulled out his dagger which looked like it was polished to the maximum that it can even outshine the moon. He placed the tip to his palm and....

Slash!

He did it quickly, then handed his hand over to Vladstin.

"Drink." He ordered plainly.

The Vampire Lord beamed brightly at this sweet-smelling blood and licked some. Then, he let out a cough.

"Urgh..... It's even more foul than I remembered! Good, good!" He continued to like the toxic-tasting blood.

"If it's bad, why do you still want it?" Sangfroid couldn't help but be curious. "Hey, don't lick directly from the wound. You might infect me."

Vladstin slurped it all up, like he was making the wet noises louder on purpose. "Ah.... Nn....You won't get infected from getting my saliva on it. It has to be bitten for you to be infected."

"Then it works more like a venom than poison, then? Just like snakes?" Sangfroid narrowed his eyes.

"I suppose. I don't know much about snakes, only that when someone is bitten, you can suck the blood out to save them from it." Vladstin continued licking Sangfroid's hand, almost.... lovingly, so.

There was an odd sense of care with every lick he makes. The foul taste is evident in his reaction for every time he licks, yet he did not stop, like what he yearned wasn't the blood itself....

But the acid burned in his tongue whenever he tastes it.

"You still haven't answered my question." Sangfroid frowned. "Why do you like my blood even when it's not good for you?"

"Ahh..... Well...." Vladstin gave him a smile.

"Why do we like something or someone? Do we need any reason at all?"

At this, Sangfroid soon came to realize the awful truth staring him in the face all along. It had always been there, but he just couldn't see it, or maybe he did not want to.

Vladstin..... Likes him!?
