Chapter 443: The Light In Her Life

In the background, Mother Xia continued to shout at her daughter, however, Xia Yu could no longer hear the words that her mother had spoken.
Her eyes were glued to Huo Yun Chen's handsome face as she wondered what was this man doing here.
If she was not mistaken, Lin You had mentioned that Huo Yun Chen will be busy with some photoshoots.
Huo Yun Chen took her to his MPV and put her in the backseat. Then, his hand moved to push her hair from her face to examine her injury. While he was carrying Xia Yu to his car, the caretaker had briefed him on what happened and he learned that Mother Xia had thrown her phone to Xia Yu's head.
Seeing the swell on her face made him frown in distress.
Looking at the size of the swelling was enough to tell him how hard Mother Xia had thrown her phone at Xia Yu. He really could not understand just what kind of mother would hurt her child like this.
Huo Yun Chen touched the swelling on Xia Yu's head softly. Then, he met her gaze. "Is it hurt?
Xia Yu shook her head. The man's sudden appearance was too shocking that she did not feel the pain even when he had touched it.
"Why are you here?" Xia Yu asked. "Aren't you supposed to be working?"
"I come over after I finished my job." Huo Yun Chen helped to tidy up Xia Yu's hair. "Today is an important day for you. How can I not be here?" A soft sigh escaped him as he thought of the scene earlier where Mother Xia continued to scold and curse Xia Yu. "I'm sorry I'm late."
Her heart warmed upon hearing his words and her eyes were starting to get misty. Xia Yu quickly look away, too embarrassed to let this man see her cry.
"It's fine now." Huo Yun Chen pulled the girl into his embrace. His hand ran through her hair, caressing them softly to give her comfort. "I'm here with you."
Her lips trembled and the tears that she had been trying so hard to hold back finally rolled down her cheek.
Xia Yu certainly did not expect that each time that she got into a mess, this man would be the first one to reach out to her. From years ago when she had seen him singing in that club until now, he had always been the one to give her support. He had always been the light in her life.
Xia Yu pursed her lips into a thin line as she cried silently in Huo Yun Chen's embrace.
It was silent in the vehicle. Xia Yu's sobbing could only be heard once in a while. Huo Yun Chen continued to hug her tightly and patted her softly on the back, consoling her.
She did not know how long time has passed but when she looked up again, the vehicle had already parked in a basement.
Xia Yu looked up to meet Huo Yun Chen's gaze but a second later, she began to look away again.
She knew well that her eyes must be swelling after crying too much. She was in a mess and she did not want Huo Yun Chen to look at her in this condition.
"Where are we?" Xia Yu asked. Her voice was a whisper.
"The hotel. Brother Xiang had booked a room upstairs," Huo Yun Chen said. "I will ask someone to call a doctor to check on your injury."
Xia Yu looked back at Huo Yun Chen with a dazed look on her face.
Huo Yun Chen tilted her head to one side. "Or would you rather go to the hospital?"
Xia Yu quickly snapped out of her trance. "No. My injury isn't that serious. I don't need to go to the hospital."
Huo Yun Chen smiled. "You have gone through so much today. Just go in, have something to eat, and take a rest, alright?"
Xia Yu nodded.
The door was pulled open and the caretaker appeared with Xia Yu's wheelchair at the side. Without saying a word, Huo Yun Chen carried her out of the vehicle and put her in the wheelchair. After saying a few words to the caretaker, he then pushed her into the building.
Xia Yu was having a hard time processing what was going on.
A while ago, she was still scolded by her mother in front of a lot of people. And now, she was at the hotel with Huo Yun Chen.
Xia Yu continued to keep her silence as they rode the elevator and finally arrived at the suite. Seeing the number on the wall made her panic.
Huo Yun Chen took the key card from his pocket and pushed her into the room.

"Xia Yu!" Lin You called happily when she saw her. However, her movement halted the moment she saw the swelling on Xia Yu's face. "What happened to you?"
"Just help us to get some ice," Huo Yun Chen said. He watched as Xia Yu turned around and asked, "Have you called the doctor?"
"I have. He should be here soon." Lin You spoke as she rummaged through the refrigerator to get some ice. When she returned to the living area, Lin You had already wrapped the ice with a towel. She was about to help Xia Yu to apply the ice on her forehead when Huo Yun Chen grabbed the ice away from her.
"I'll do it." Huo Yun Chen shot his assistant a look.
Once she understood what Huo Yun Chen wanted to do, Lin You rolled her eyes and walked away. "I'm going to order some food." Lin You shouted from the kitchen. "Brother Huo, what do you want?"
"Just order anything. "Huo Yun Chen shouted back.
