The deadliest weakness of Li Xiaoxing was the never-changing fact of his disability.

“I have yet to speak to your psychiatrist but the cause behind the sudden paralysis in your hands is clear as day to me.” Ji Fanyin checked her watch. Considering there was still ten minutes left, she slowed down her talking pace. “That’s because deep down you know you wouldn’t have been able to sit up if not for ‘Ji Fanyin’.”

Li Xiaoxing did not refute her.

“When you found out you had not only not repaid her for her kindness but even helped others to harm her, your subconscious punished you by nullifying your ability to move.” Ji Fanyin chuckled, “But, have you considered who was the one who planted this thought in your mind?”

The look of sudden realization was apparent on Li Xiaoxing’s face.

“It’s Ji Xinxin.” Ji Fanyin leaned on the backrest of the chair and continued indifferently, “Think about it. The reason you think you love her is because you believed she had once saved you. You had viewed her as the light in your life. That’s why you were willing to sacrifice everything for her. Even if she didn’t love you, you were willing to continue to stay by her side… Isn’t that what you used to claim?”

That was only half-true.

Even though Li Xiaoxing was influenced by Ji Xinxin, the most he did was to keep both of them in a room and shower her with all his attention.

But when Ji Fanyin found out about it, not only did she not hesitate to lock the door and throw away the key, she had even gone a step further to nail the windows shut with wooden boards.

“There’s another thing that sets you apart from them.” Ji Fanyin stared at Li Xiaoxing’s face, “You are the one Ji Xinxin chose to marry. You are the one she loved more than the others, her chosen one. There must be someone who is jealous of you for being her fiancé.”

Li Xiaoxing’s adam apple bounced up and down and a regurgitation noise sounded from behind his throat.

Ji Fanyin stood up and made a hand gesture in the direction of the door. “As for your recovery, you do not need my help. As long as you are able to overcome your guilt and obsession, your subconscious would naturally release you from your punishment.”

“Wait!” Li Xiaoxing called out to Ji Fanyin from behind.

Ji Fanyin turned back to look at him with raised eyebrows.

Li Xiaoxing’s eyelashes fluttered, he croaked, “If I had found out about the impersonation earlier, would I not have lost her?”

“Lose her? That’s not right. Why would you think that?” Ji Fanyin asked incredulously, “When have you ever had her?”

Right then, Li Mingyue rushed into the room to catch Li Xiaoxing from toppling over.

Following her was a group of doctors and nurses rushing into the ward.

Ji Fanyin did not move further. For the last time, she smiled and waved goodbye to Li Xiaoxing.

Outside, she found Secretary Fan. Politely, she asked, “Do you know where Ji Xinxin is? I would like to meet her.”
