Chapter 65: 6th instance: His simply scarier than a ghost (part 2 of 4)

Everyone reached their destination which was almost across the entire village. This brick house was backed by a mountain wall, which was a little bit farther from the other structures, and already had a very dilapidated look, without any red lanterns hanging above it. The old man pushed the door open and let everyone in.

The interior was very consistent with it’s exterior appearance, and was also very dilapidated. The furniture inside would even make creaking noises when sat on.

“There are three rooms here. Just pick a place to rest in.” The old man hunched his back and went to the side room. He seemed to have grown even more older, as he struggled to close the door.

But the others didn’t relax the slightest bit at all, and still had very serious expressions. After closing the door, the darkness outside can be seen from the small window inside the house, the mist has also spread everywhere, making it impossible for them to go out.

“Don’t be so anxious everyone.” Xiao Cheng stood up at this moment, and looked at the others and said: “We’re all people who’ve broken through so many instances, so, we’ll still be able to get by even if we encounter dangers.”

The others were also eased upon hearing this. But only Qi Yunxiu snorted, then turned and entered a nearby room inside the house.

They didn’t dare to eat the food inside this house. They all took out and ate the preinstalled rations stored in their backpacks.

“I believe that everyone bought information pertaining this instance before entering the instance. It would be better for us to be frank and open, and share the hints we know of now.” Xiao Cheng also conveyed once more, “This can increase our chances of getting out.”

The others naturally didn’t think that there was something wrong, and spoke about all the things they had learned. Of course, at this time, no one can ascertain whether anyone was holding back something, or simply said something false.

“The information I got was that a tragic incident had once happened in this village several decades ago, which even caused a sensation outside. But the matter eventually ended with nothing definite, and the contact of the village with the outside had even become much lesser……”

""

“It looks like, this tragic incident must have some connection with the malicious spirits we will encounter in this time’s instance.” Gu Wuji subconsciously expressed, “But are there no much detailed information?”

“N-, no.” This person paused for a moment, then subconsciously said in accordance to Gu Wuji’s words, “It was just a piece of information printed in the newspaper.”

Xiao Cheng, who suddenly felt a sense of crisis: “?” What’s going on? Did this Sun Shi just snatch his words?

“As mentioned over here, supernatural entities appears to be able to communicate in this village? In the past, when it was still extremely feudal and superstitious, many people from the other villages would come here to invite people. But it’s all gone now.” The other person said.

“I see.” Gu Wuji then spoke up again: “The information I got was that this village would conduct a ceremony every once in a while, which is a ghost marriage.”

The other looked at Gu Wuji one after another, with varied expressions on each of their faces, as numerous scenarios began to flash in their minds. After all, these two words were really too terrifying.

“The hint I have here is that walking outside at night is possible so long as you have a red lantern.” A young girl timidly said.

Only then did everyone discover that this girl, who seemed to be quite introverted and didn’t like speaking much to strangers before, actually looks very beautiful…… although not as good as Sun Shi.

Even though they felt that Sun Shi might have a problem in his brain before, but that appearance of his was absolutely first-rate. Looking at it was already very pleasing to the eye, which would unconsciously increase a bit of goodwill they felt towards him…… What’s more, the other party’s statement now was very well-founded, which made the individual much reliable.

“It looks like, there will most likely be situations where there will be a need to move outside at night.” Xiao Cheng hurriedly conveyed, for fear of being robbed of his lines by Gu Wuji again, as there cannot be two leaders in a team, “But we don’t know whether we should take this red lantern in the end. Qi Yunxiu had said something like that before after all……”

As he was saying this, he also looked towards Gu Wuji suggestively.

Only then did the others remember that Gu Wuji was still in a team with Qi Yunxiu, so they subconsciously moved a little farther from him.

“Sun Shi, what are your thoughts in this?” Xiao Cheng felt a sudden burst of satisfaction deep down, but still kept a very sincere attitude on the surface.

Gu Wuji felt that Xiao Cheng was quite a good person, and immediately said: “I feel that we shouldn’t take it.”

“Why?” Xiao Cheng actually felt somewhat surprised. He knew a bit of the inside story, which was why he knew that he shouldn’t take this lantern, and that Qi Yunxiu obviously saw something with those eyes of his. But why did Sun Shi think so too?

“My intuition.” Gu Wuji replied.

The others originally thought that Gu Wuji would exhibit some brilliant reasoning process, and didn’t expect it to surprisingly be two short words, which made all of them feel very disappointed.

Xiao Cheng, nevertheless, felt even more wary deep down, and felt that Sun Shi was several times more troublesome than Qi Yunxiu. This ability to pretend to be stupid was sublime, as if he really just used his intuition.

“It’s already late, we should quickly take a rest.” Xiao Cheng said: “So as to avoid not having enough energy for tomorrow.”

Gu Wuji inwardly felt a bit bewildered that Xiao Cheng hadn’t spoke about the matter of everyone’s hidden identity. It seems that their ability to keep secrets were very strong.

But truth be told, the reason the others didn’t feel the need to talk about this matter…… was because the identities assigned to them were basically meaningless, the tasks were also very ordinary, and can be completed easily.

The others went in the room in succession. Needless to say, not a single person dared to go to Qi Yunxiu’s room, and would rather squeeze seven people in the two rooms.

Except for Gu Wuji, who nonchalantly went in the room. After all, he felt that he and Qi Yunxiu were already a team. Not to mention that he still needed to keep a tab on the other……

Qi Yunxiu had been sitting on the chair all the while, after hearing the sound of movements, his expression then became very cold.

He already felt that Gu Wuji wasn’t a simple at all, and every move the other made was so perplexing, After feeling that the time was almost right, only then did he turn to say: “Since you came in, you should have already been prepared, right? For what reason did you actually want to follow me for-……”

Not only had Gu Wuji instantly fallen asleep the moment he laid on the bed, but he also seems to be sound asleep.

Qi Yunxiu: “??”

Qi Yunxiu: “……”

This guy was truly very abnormal!

…………

……

In a semiconscious state, Gu Wuji suddenly heard the sound of a girl’s weeping from outside the window.

He sat up with a slight frown, and turned to look at the window at the side. But this window was teeming with mist, and the situation outside can’t be seen without opening it.

This move would obviously not be done in a fully conscious state, but Gu Wuji, who seemed to have been mesmerized by something at this time, pushed the window open right away.

In the next moment, a figure in red appeared from a distance. It was obviously a great distance away, and it was in such a dark night too, but he could see it very clearly.

But just after a single blink, that figure appeared much more closer, and the sound of crying also seemed to sound beside his ears.

Wrong, that sound-, actually came from right behind him.

That figure in the mist had already disappeared at some unknown point of time. But a pair of hands, which was lightly laid on his shoulders, had bone-chilling coldness.

Gu Wuji turned around, and saw a greatly rotten face of a woman suddenly appear behind him at very close range. The eyeballs had almost fallen out from the eye sockets, with long black hair that was practically about to wrap Gu Wuji’s neck.

She was dressed in an intricate red traditional wedding dress.

An ordinary person would have certainly fainted in fright straight away after seeing such a sight.

Gu Wuji also couldn’t help from furrowing his brows at this time, causing the arc at the corner of the female ghost’s mouth to grow wider.

“It’s so cold at night, you’ll get sick if you wear this little.”

Gu Wuji said this, then directly placed the bed’s thick quilt on the shoulders of the female ghost. He had even bundled up the other very considerately.

Female ghost: “???”

The female ghost looked at Gu Wuji with a gaze full of indescribable subtlety.
