Nirra woke up later and rubbed her eyes as she rose from her seat. She noticed the sword she finished was not within her grasp and concluded that her sister must have taken it while she was asleep. She stretched her arms as she stood up from her seat and walked towards the exit. She accidentally bumped into a shelf due to morning drowsiness, which caused a book to drop to the ground. She kneeled down to pick up the book and managed to get a glimpse of its title.

'Magical Arts Vol. One'

Nirra then thought that if she could fully utilize her magical abilities, then she would be crafting weapons at peak efficiency. Frost can be used to cool down metals so they can be immediately quenched without the use of oil. Lightning can be used to make a basic electric motor that uses wood and copper. With it, she could engineer a steel milling machine that could do the precise cutting action she needed for fully automatic or semiautomatic weapons. Darkness, though, needed more information about the abilities that it could possess. So she hoped sometime in the future she could visit the great library in the capital so she could get more information about it.

She then decided to learn the basics of magic today, so she took a shower, ate a meal with her parents and sister, and went ahead to find an arcane mage in the city.

Or

Then she got a better idea; she went to the adventurer's guild instead. While inside, the guild was as lively as ever. She walked towards the front desk to register a quest.

"Welcome to the Redfield Guild, adventurer. What can I help you with today?" The guildmaid at the front desk asked in a polite manner.

"Can I register a quest even though I'm an adventurer?" Nirra asked.

"You can, as long as you're not under a quest at this very hour." The guildmaid answered. "So, please give me your guild identification card so I may verify if you are not on a quest," she added.

Nirra pulled out her now-copper card and gave it to the guildmaid. The maid then used magic as she scanned over it with her hand and gave it back to Nirra afterwards.

"It does not appear you have any active quests right now, so what do you want to request?" She said.

"I would like a mage from the guild to teach me some magic." Nirra explained.

The maid nodded and started scribbling notes on a piece of parchment with a quill.

"Is that all?" she asked.

"Yes," Nirra replied.

"That'll be 20 silver coins, a guild fee, and rewards for the adventurers added." She said.

Nirra nodded and placed down the exact number of silver coins for the guildmaid. The katter took it, placed it under the desk, and stamped the parchment with the guild's crest. She then walked out of her position to nail it to the quest board.

"Is it okay if I wait here for anyone to pick up the quest?" Nirra said.

"Yes, of course." The maid nodded and replied.

Nirra walked towards the nearest chair and sat down. A few minutes turned into a few hours, and no one has picked up the quest yet. She even bought lunch there at the guild.

Then, as she was ready to ask the guildmaid to point out the adventures at her home, she prepared to head over there. She spots a group of four adventurers looking at the board.

"Hey Hildia, look, a quest just for teaching another adventurer some magic," the tall man with the heavy-looking armor said.

"Huh?" The smaller woman, whom Nirra assumed to be Hildia, noticed it and took a look.

"Yeah, Hildia, this is an easy 18 silver coins." The other man said

"I guess I could try," she said.

"Hey, if this goes well, I'll buy you some juice from the guild bar if you want." The blonde elf beside her said

"Okay, let's do it," Hildia said as she tore the parchment from the quest board and walked towards the front desk.

'adventurer's guild? I like the term "PMC" better.' Nirra thought of the private military corporations that would work for the right pay.

The maid then pointed at Nirra, so the group approached where she was sitting.

"Whoa. She's going to be the one you're teaching? Luky...." She heard the man, who seemed to be the leader, comment.

Nirra paid no heed as the elf girl elbowed him to the side for his comment. The first to step forward was Hildia, and she introduced herself to Nirra.

"Hello, my name is Hildia, and I'm the one who's going to teach you about magic." She said this while she held her staff.

"Okay, my name is Nirra; I'm an adventurer like all of you," she said with a comforting smile.

"Who's the other three in your party?" Nirra asked.

"O-oh right, this is Gareth, our phalanx and frontline." She said this as she motioned to the man wearing the heavy-looking armor.

"Greetings," he said in a low but audible voice.

"This is Shael, our archer," she said as she motioned to the blonde-haired elf.

"Pleasure to make your acquaintance," she said.

"And this is Eric, our swordsman and leader." She said she motioned to the guy wearing light armor with a sword by his side.

"What time are you free?-" He said a bit as she finished. Shael elbowed him to the side, which made him wince in pain.

"I mean...... nice to meet you, beautiful," he said as he whispered the last part under his breath.

"Nice to meet you all; I'm Nirra. An archer keen to learn about the arcane arts," Nirra said.

"Now that introductions are out of the way, let's head outside the city to begin the lessons," Gareth said in a stern manner.

They nodded as they left the adventurer's guild and walked outside the walls that protected the city and its inhabitants.
