While walking towards the front door. Ellie suddenly remembered something that she wanted to talk to her sister about.

"Sis, wait." Ellie tapped Nirra's shoulder, and the former turned around to face her. Nirra had a puzzled look on her face as she turned around.

"We're only one quest away from ranking up to C class; let's do a D rank quest now and also do the rank up test so we can gain access to escort quests." Ellie said.

Nirra thought for a second: maybe she can take the escort quest to Aeris, where she can get another one to travel all the way to the capital city of Ceres.

"Sure, let's grab our equipment," Nirra said as Ellie nodded.

The two went back to the forge to arm themselves, Ellie with her swords and Nirra with her firearms. She put the new revolver inside a holster that was attached to her belt. She grabbed her musket with the bayonet already attached to it and carried it using the leather sling her mother had made. After they were done, the two went to the front door and started walking towards the guild.

Along the way, they encountered Mari and Edwina, who were walking down the street on the same path towards the guild.

"Oh! Hey Nirra! Hey Ellie!" Edwina waved to get the twin's attention.

"Fancy meeting you two here," Mari said with a smile plastered on her face.

"What are you two up to?" Edwina asked.

"We're getting another quest from the guild to take on the rank-up test," Nirra said.

"In that case, can we come along? I'm already a rank C, but Edwina is the same as you, and we were about to take a quest for ourselves." Mari said as she motioned at Edwina.

"Yeah! Let's form a party so we can help each other," Edwina said gleefully with a smile. The twins looked at each other and nodded; each wore their own smile.

"Sure! The more the merrier, right?" Ellie said.

The group eventually reached the guild, where there were a lot of D-rank quests available. The four girls eventually decided on an extermination quest for goblins. Apparently, there were still some stragglers that were left over from the monster horde and needed to be taken care of. Nirra thought this would be a perfect test for her revolver since goblins tend to congregate into groups that they have to take out individually. The quest called for the extermination of 20 goblins and bringing back their ears as proof that the extermination was a success.

The group then got the quest approved by the guild maid, and they set off to the northern forest, where the quest dictated that groups of goblins could be found. Along the way, they made some small talk with each other until they eventually reached the forest.

"Alright, weapons out, everyone. There's no telling how many goblins are in this forest." Nirra said as she pulled out her revolver. She checked if there was any ammunition inside it and closed it back when she saw there was.

"Hey, that weapon looks different." Mari said as she looked at the strange weapon Nirra was wielding. "Aren't you going to use your larger one with the shortsword attached to it?" She added.

Nirra shook her head and spoke, "No, the trees in this forest are too close together, so shooting this would be difficult. Plus, I just finished this earlier and wanted to see what it could do.

Mari nodded in understanding; she too was curious what this weapon, made recently, could do. She then saw Nirra press part of the weapon and heard an audible clicking sound when she stopped pressing. She then focused on the task at hand and grabbed her bow and an arrow from her quiver.

The group then entered the forest. The trees were thick, which allowed little light to pass through the canopy. The sounds of birds chirping could be heard as they saw small rabbits that jumped around in front of them. They did run away when they got too close to them.

After a few minutes of walking, the group suddenly heard a stick crack, which silenced all the birds that were chirping earlier. They traced the sound to Edwina, who stepped on a twig.

Edwina cringed as she whispered "Sorry.".

It took a few more steps before they saw a group of five goblins huddled around a small campfire.

"Sis, Mari, take the first shots; I'll go and take down any left," Ellie said.

Nirra and Mari nodded as they slowly crept to their shooting positions. Once they were there, Nirra gave the signal to shoot.

Mari and Nirra shot at the same time. The bullet traveled faster than the arrow, so it hit the goblin first, which was hit in the leg, while Mari's shot hit the other goblin in the stomach. Mari realized they didn't kill them in one shot, so she panicked and grabbed another arrow from her quiver. But when she was about to take another shot, she heard another loud bang from Nirra, who was beside her.

'Did she load her weapon already?' She thought. When she used the other small weapon she carried last time. It took her a good 10–15 seconds before she was ready to shoot again. She was surprised at the rate Nirra was shooting her weapon; was this the improvement she made with her new weapon, perhaps?

After the first goblin died from her second shot, Nirra pressed the hammer down again to cycle the action as the cylinder rotated to chamber the next round to be fired. After it did, she pressed the trigger again as the hammer slammed into the firing ball pin, which transferred the energy to the small doomslime core inside the cartridge. The core ignited, which in turn ignited the gunpowder that was packed alongside it, and the expanding gases from the controlled explosion propelled the bullet forward. The grooves in the barrel helped the bullet spin in the air, making it more accurate. It didn't take long before the bullet reached its target, which was the head of the second goblin. It impacted the goblin's head with such force that it threw it towards the ground. The other goblins panicked the first time they heard the noise of the revolver firing and started running away.

But before they could get away, Nirra had already placed a bullet in each of their heads in quick succession. She smirked and like the cowgirl she is, she spun her revolver in her hand before she opened up the cylinder and unloaded the spent cartridges on her hand. She then placed the used ones inside the compartment where she stored her ammunition and grabbed a speedloader from it. She then loaded it once again with the speed loader and closed the cylinder again.

When she did, she made a little inspection of the firearm to check for cracks and deformities, to which she found none. She smiled in satisfaction that her firearm performed perfectly without any flaws.

She then looked back at her companions to see what they would think of her newly made firearm, and their expressions were as amusing as she thought they would be. Ellie and Mari were staring wide-eyed at her, while Edwina was seen staring at her with admiration.
