"Sis. What, was that?" Ellie was the first to break out of her shock.
"I told you, it's the weapon I finished earlier," Nirra answered while she still wore the smirk because of her companion's reactions.
"I.... I've never seen someone shoot so fast," Mari commended as she held her bow tight.
Nirra held her pistol up with both hands. Of course, fingers are off the trigger since there isn't a safety mechanism implemented into it.
Edwina though? She looked at the weapon Nirra was holding. She wanted to know its secrets and how it worked. Maybe she'll ask Nirra how it works later.
"Does it use the same principles as that long weapon you're carrying right now?" Mari asked, curious about the connection between two strange weapons that she had never seen before.
"Theoretically, yes." Nirra said it blatantly. She would never give out the secret inner workings of her firearms. Especially in a world where people would do anything to get rich.
"Okay, then I will not dwell on it further. Let's hunt down more goblins. We need to finish this quest today, or you three have to do the guild C rank test tomorrow," Mari said.
The group agreed to move deeper into the forest in hopes of encountering another group of goblins. They reached the middle of the forest when they heard a large roar, which silenced the forest's ambient noise.
"What.... Was that?" Ellie asked as she slowly drew her blade.
Nirra once again drew her revolver from her holster and checked if there was any ammo inside it after cocking back the hammer, ready to fire at the first sign of danger.
"I don't know, but it sounds very, very angry," Edwina said as she stood behind the twins and Mari as another roar came out; this time, it sounded really close. The group traced the noises that came in front of them.
Mari, with her heightened hearing, noticed that the roars were somewhat distorted. Like someone was trying to scream in a thunderstorm.
"Oh god..." Mari whispered with full worry in her voice.
"We need to get out of here!" Mari said as she turned to run. The others followed suit and started running in the opposite direction.
"Mari, what was that!?" Ellie said as she ran alongside the elf.
"It's a-" Her response was interrupted by a lightning bolt that almost hit her.
Their eyes opened wide as they gazed back on the foe who had seemingly shot them with it. They saw what looked like a deer, but its antlers were made of steel, and its body was covered in a thick coat of black fur traced with glowing blue edges.
"Dear Lord, what in purgatory hell is that!?" Ellie exclaimed as she stood in front of Nirra. Just in case it shoots another lightning bolt.
"It's a Sturmhirsch!! Rank A monster!!" Edwina shouted.
"Let's get out of here, now!" Nirra said as the Sturmhirsch pointed its antlers at them for another attack.
"It's going for another attack! Move!" Nirra shouted.
The Sturmhirsch fired off another lightning bolt, which almost hit the group. Ellie was lying down as bells rang inside her head from the shockwave of the lightning bolt.
Nirra, Mari, and Edwina got up, but Nirra checked on Ellie since she was the closest to where the attack hit. Nirra then helped her sister up with some kind words.
"On your feet, Ellie! WE. ARE. LEAVING!!" Nirra shouted as she pushed Ellie to run with Edwina and Mari. Nirra was behind the group as she helped the group try to escape by firing her revolver at the monster.
The deer took several hits to the head but was unfazed in its pursuit. Until, with the last round in the cylinder, Nirra managed to hit it in the eye. The bullet only ricocheted off of the deer's skull, but this only made it really, really mad.
It immediately fired off another lightning bolt that hit near Nirra's position. Which sent the adventurer flying and falling down a steep slope due to the shockwave. All Nirra could hear was the pained scream of her sister, who turned back to see what happened.
"NIRRA!!!"

Sorry if this chapter is a bit shorter than the others. At the time if typing, I just finished midterms and my brain is fried and running on fumes. Hopefully a good nights rest might get me back on the saddle and onto normal length chapters.
