So guys, heres a bonus chapter because the last one was so short. Enjoy!

After the group lost Nirra to the Sturmhirsch, they immediately reported the encounter to the guild, which sent out a small search party. Ellie, Edwina, and Mari were with them. Meanwhile, Nirra lay unconscious from the fall. She heard some light footsteps that were approaching her from the front, which she stirred awake from. When she opened her eyes, all she could see was a dense forest with a thick canopy overhead. The footsteps that were approaching her suddenly vanished. She shook her head and checked around to find her pistol, which she still held. Her musket, though? It was sticking upright behind her with its bayonet stabbed into the ground. She frowned when she noticed the barrel was bent beyond repair possibly due to the fall and it looked like it hit a boulder on the way down. So it was better to craft up a newer, better long-arm weapon.

She grasped her revolver tightly and checked the compartment where she stored the ammunition. To her dismay, she only found two speedloaders left, each with six rounds. So, in total, she can only fire 18 shots, and thought that she better make those 18 count.

"I need to regroup with the others," Nirra said as she noticed that the sun was setting. She would have to make camp for the night. It's either that or get lost, finding the way back to civilization, which she would rather not do.

So, she started walking on what she thought was the southern path to find a place where she could hunker down and make camp for the night. Unbeknownst to Nirra, however, she wasn't just hearing things earlier. Inside the bush that was beside her were a pair of glowing eyes that looked curiously at Nirra. When she started walking away, the creature followed her out of her peripheral vision.

As the night drew on, countless noises from creatures in the forest echoed through. Then I found a small clearing, and in the center was a pile of boulders that had a fallen tree over them, which looked like a small den that could be used as shelter. Nirra had to check if there were any creatures that were already living in it, so she pulled out her revolver and carefully approached the formation. She held her breath as she pointed the gun inside the formation and found nothing. There were no wolves or foxes that would call this their home. Satisfied, she then sat down inside the formation and grabbed two pieces of wood she could make a fire from. The night started to get cold, so she needed a fire to stay warm.

She tried and tried, but no matter how many times she tried, she could not start a fire. She then got an idea. She pulled out a single cartridge from a speedloader and turned it upside down. Then, with careful hands, she grabbed the small doomslime core inside it and placed it on a pile of sticks. She then grabbed a rock and smashed it against the core. The small monster core ignited the sticks and turned it into a small fire. She then grabbed a larger stick and poked around to get the monster core out of the fire. She did get it out eventually and put the core back inside the cartridge, ready to be fired. Her moment of victory was cut short by the sound of her stomach demanding input. So she grabbed her bag and pulled out some rations, like dried bacon strips.

"Thank God I bought some from the market before we left," she said slowly to herself.

While she was eating, she couldn't turn down the sense that she was being watched. The sound of a stick breaking from the outside immediately kicked in the adrenaline as she grabbed her revolver and pulled back the hammer.

She peeked outside to see what caused the noise, but again, she found nothing. She remained vigilant as she heard the sound of eating. When she looked back, she saw something that she could only describe as cute.

Inside was a small white fox. It had silver edges to the tails—yes, tails. It had three of them—paws and ears. It is currently munching on the dried bacon strips she left earlier when she left to look for any dangers.

The fox noticed her as it stopped what it was doing and immediately leapt to hide inside a pile of sticks in the corner. Nirra could've sworn she saw the secondary colors turn from silver to yellow before they dove into the stick pile.

She giggled at its actions as she carefully went to grab the stick of bacon the fox was chewing. She then held it out in front of the stick pile and said,

"Are you hungry? Here, eat it. It's for you."

"Mofu?" The fox said as its head peeked out from the pile.

"Go on, take it," Nirra said.

"Mofu!" The colors on the fox's ears suddenly turned bright pink as it jumped out of the pile and snatched the bacon strip from Nirra's hand with its mouth.

Nirra giggled as she sat down on the ground near the fire, grabbed another one from her bag, and started eating it. She was startled when the fox jumped onto her lap with an accompanying

"Mofu!"

She smiled as she patted the fox on her lap; the latter started purring as it waged all three of its tails while munching on the piece of dried bacon.

She looked down at the fox and started murmuring about the thing it said all the time.

"Hmmm, mofu, I'll call you Mofu then," she said as she rubbed the fox's back with her hand.

"Mofu~" The fox purred and rubbed its head on Nirra's hand.
