When night came, Nirra was still focused on reading through the book, trying to learn more about her mysterious elemental attribute. While the small fox, known as Mofu, was on her lap, happily munching on another piece of garlic bread, the tips of his tail and ears also turned red.

A knock came across her door, so she placed the small fox on the floor before she opened the door to greet whoever was knocking. It was her sister, Ellie, who looked exhausted.

"Oh, you're back. How did it go?" Ellie handed her the small bag that carried all of the coins that she gave her earlier, only to find that 23 silver coins were left. She looked at Ellie while the latter just shrugged.

"That bag was so heavy, but at least we managed to eventually get it inside your forge," Ellie said while she stratched her arms. "Ameria pitched in to help too. She's in her room, probably asleep."

"I see… Thanks for doing that task for me. I owe you." Nirra smiled softly.

Ellie just shrugged and said. "Don't mention it. By the way, what were you doing?" She peeked over Nirra's shoulder to find that she was reading some sort of book on her desk.

"I was learning about the darkness elemental mana," Nirra answered briefly.

"What did you find out?" she asked as she crossed her arms.

"This." Nirra once again held out her hand and gathered all the darkness at her fingertips. The same black, viscous portal that glowed purple appeared and engulfed her hand.

"Whoa! Wait, are you okay?" Ellie asked frantically.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Nirra reassured her as her attention went back to her hand. "This spell is just for storing items."

"I see, you didn't need to say the spell name too," Ellie noticed as she gazed at the small round portal.

"The book didn't say anything about it, so I guess it's not a requirement." She pulled out her hand, and the portal closed immediately.

"What kind of items can you store in it?" Ellie asked, still intrigued by the new spell her sister had learned.

Nirra let her hand drop to her sides and said, "Just a few things for now, but the more I use that elemental mana, the more items I can store with that spell."

"I see, well. I'll go get some rest now. Hauling all that metal around really did a number on my shoulders." Ellie turned her body left and was getting ready to leave when her sister's voice momentarily stopped her.

"Thanks again, Ellie."

"Anytime." Ellie twisted the knob on her door before she opened it and went inside to retire for the day.

Nirra went back inside the room and closed the door behind her to sleep as well.

The next day. It was early morning, with the sun barely peeking above the horizon, when Nirra went to her newly built smithy, accompanied by Mofu. When she entered, she noticed that all of the metals were correctly arranged. She thanked her sister and Ameria once again before she put on a leather apron to finally start going to work.

The first order of business was to make the remaining tools she needed. One of these were the different drillbits. To start, she placed charcoal inside the forge; the privative concrete mixture was already hardened and ready to go, so she motioned for Mofu to do the honors of lighting it up for the first time.

"Mofu!" Mofu's tail tips and ears turned red as he happily lit the forge.

After it started to get hot, Nirra grabbed the hammer that her father gave her and placed it near the anvil, which was in the middle of the room. She then grabbed the tongs and used them to pick up a high-carbon steel ingot. She placed it inside the burning charcoal and waited for it to become malleable to start hammering.

Once it was glowing yellowish orange, she pulled it out of the forge using the tongs and immediately placed it on the anvil, where she started hammering it into a long rod.

It took a few reheats and a few minutes of hammering before she got the final shape, which was a long rod. With a special tool, she split into four pieces; three went back into the forge, while she used a vise on the last rod to twist it and form the shape of the humble drillbit. Once that was done, she left it to cool and did the same with the other four rods, each with varying sizes. After that, she moved to reheat them all evenly and then immediately dump them into water to heat treat them. After that was done, she moved to sand the drill bits to make them shine a bit before moving onto the grinder wheel to make the final adjustments, like adding a point to the end.

In the end, she had four drill bits, each very large, for the purpose of punching holes through steel sheets.

As a test run. Hersmithithy did fine, with the forge working as intended. Now she can move on to more complex crafting. Like making a gearbox using belts to make the electric motor have more torque to run a bigger lathe, using that electric motor to roll down copper into wire to be used to make more motors, and finally making the special press to accomplish her advancement on smokeless powder using the flame salamader spit that she has inside her brand new shadow storage spell.

"One step at a time," Nirra said to herself while she sighed at how much work was yet to be done.
