Chapter 15 – Punching The Defender Of Heaven, Heimos And Kicking The Hero, King Camos

The vast lion garden was said to be a garden, but it was actually an endless green grassland. The dwarf bushes were scattered throughout the prairie1, and sparse woods could still be seen from a distance. The tall white stone wall surrounded this vast grassland, and strangers could not enter without the King’s permission.

A burly lion lay under a tall palm tree, with its front paws crossed. His huge head laid lazily on his front paws, while his thick mane trembled like waves in the blowing wind.

Suddenly, his ears moved, and the head that was lying on its paws lifted up and looked in a certain direction.

When the lion saw the person coming, it stood up. His sturdy limbs stepped forward, walked slowly to the person’s side, and flicked the person with his tail, which was regarded as a greeting. Then, the large beast’s big copper-bell eyes stared behind the man.

A child was hiding behind the man. Tucked behind the man’s thigh, his two small hands tightly grasped the hem of the man’s clothes.

Seeing the big lion bypassing Camos and its huge head lowering towards him, Garlan became even more frightened. He tried to hide deeply behind Camos.

Why did this lion always want to bring its head closer? Was it because he smelled delicious?

Just as Garlan thought in horror, the head of the lion, who was only planning to sniff the scent of his own little cub, was pushed to the other side with a smack.

Then, with a quick swoop, Camos picked him up.

King Camos hugged his little brother, thinking that he was shocked just now, and hid behind his legs. The appearance of how his little hand held onto his clothes was simply too adorable and the older man rubbed the child’s soft hair. He felt his heart turning into a pool of water.

He put his arm around Garlan, used the other hand and smacked the big lion, who was crowding around him, wanting to raise his head and sniff Garlan.

“Don’t bully him.”

He smacked the lion again while saying so.

The big lion grunted and huffed. Expressing his dissatisfaction by baring his teeth and curling his mouth towards Camos, he then shook his head and left proudly.

He slowly walked back under the palm tree, squatted down again, basking in the warm sun, and continued to doze lazily.

King Camos hugged his little brother and came to a large greenhouse not far away.

He opened the curtain and went in. The maids and servants inside had already knelt down, their body close to the ground and their heads bowed to welcome him.

Garlan glanced at the scene in front of him. This huge greenhouse was mostly filled with green plants, and a quarter of it held a small artificial pond. The water was very shallow, and it was estimated that it could not be above his ankle. Then he saw four little lion cubs biting into a ball in the shallow pool, rolling around, and causing water to splash.

After giving a simple and crude command of “let them fight, and bring the one who stood last to him”, King Camos didn’t bother to waste anymore time there. The fight between the candidates seemed like child’s play. Who was interested in watching children play house?

So he unceremoniously left behind the young men who were about to beat one another to death in the arena and took his little brother to the lion garden to play.

He nodded at random to the servant who was kneeling on the ground and then walked to the shallow pond with Garlan in his arms.

Garlan looked down at the little lion cubs that were excitedly rolling around in the small pool and thought that in such shallow water, he was afraid that these naughty little lion cubs would accidentally drown.

Just as he stared at the little lion cubs, one of them who had just bitten the hair on the head of his companion raised his head, and his little amber eyes stared at Garlan. Immediately purring in excitement, it slammed its buttocks at its brother who wanted to bite him back, got up on his four short legs, treaded on the shallow water, and ran towards Garlan.

The little one ran up to King Camos, only to find that Garlan was being held by Camos and he couldn’t reach him, so the cub became a bit confused, tilting its head and circling around them several times.

It probably felt that it was useless to continuously go in circles. It whimpered and straightened up its small body, and hooked his paws on Camos’ black boots. One of his paws was up and the other grabbed the ground, looking like it wanted to climb up. But the boots were polished smoothly and brightly by the king’s servants. It climbed up, then tumbled down. The small, chubby body somersaulted to the ground.

The little cub that had fallen down stopped crawling, sat down on the ground, and looked at Garlan eagerly. It looked aggrieved and started to yelp at Garlan.

King Camos laughed loudly and put Garlan on the ground. The cub immediately got up again in excitement and ran to Garlan’s feet.

Its fleshy little paws made a sound just like the first time they met, and he hugged Garlan’s ankle, refusing to let go.

Garlan, “…”

Would this stupid meng selling2 lion really become a fearsome and mighty lion in the future?

No, the lion from his impressions must be one of his brothers, not him!

Camos rubbed his head and said with a smile.

“It likes you.”

But I dislike it.

The corner of Garlan’s mouth twitched and looked down at the little cub who was holding his ankle and rubbing against it.

“…What is it called?”

King Camos touched the stubble on his chin.

These little lion cubs were born less than a month ago. He was busy during this period and hadn’t had the time to name them yet.

He asked, “Why don’t you name it?”

“Huh? But…”

Garlan knelt down and rubbed the little milk lion.

The cub whimpered, turned over, and showed his belly at him. Garlan looked at the chubby belly and couldn’t help poking it with his finger. Seeing the little furball twisted, he poked again.

King Camos laughed.

“The little one hates me. I’m afraid it won’t like the name I picked.” He said, “Don’t worry, you can slowly think. We have a long time before this cub grows up.”

He said with a smile in his eyes, looking at Garlan, who was squatting on the ground and poking the little lion’s belly.

“King Camos.”

Someone came in a hurry. It was a young minister, holding a few rolls of parchment paper.

“Venal City has an emergency report. The seasonal torrent of the river next to it suddenly arrived ahead of schedule, causing a flood!”

Camos frowned, stretched out his hand, grabbed the parchment that the other party handed, and unfolded it.

As he read, he kept asking the courtier some questions. The young minister obviously knew the matter very well and could answer any questions directed to him.

Therefore, one King and one courtier stood and exchanged conversations. As they were talking, the room was very quiet. The maids who took care of the little lion cubs bowed their heads and stayed silent, not daring to interrupt King Camos’s conversation.

Garlan had stood up, listened to the side for a while, turned his head, and suddenly saw a small brown tail on the window not far away.

In the next second, the tip of the tail swished out the window.

Gallan lowered his head, and as expected, the little lion cub that was still rolling at his feet a moment ago was gone.

…It seems to be a habitually escaping criminal.

Garlan thought to himself, turned his head, and glanced at King Camos. King Camos was still looking at the roll of parchment paper carefully and kept talking to his courtier, without paying attention to this side.

He thought for a while and ran out quickly without saying goodbye.

As soon as he went out, he saw the brown furball in the bushes in the right corner, and he hurried to catch up.

If he didn’t grab this little animal back, the maids in the greenhouse would be yelling and hustling together again.

The little cub quickly slid away and Garlan opened his mouth to call it back, but after opening his mouth he remembered that the little one had no name yet. He couldn’t be called back, so the boy could only chase after him.

Unconsciously chasing farther away, the little furball disappeared after a few jumps. Only then did Garlan realise that he seemed to have been brought back to the training grounds by the little cub.

He suddenly guessed why the cub secretly came here… He remembered that not long before he left, the servants of King Camos had roasted meat here.

The little lion probably smelled the scent of roasted meat drifting over.

In addition to being stupid, this little guy is also a glutton.

Garlan thought annoyingly and walked in the direction of the training grounds. Around the bend were steep stepping stones, and the rushing water on one side flowed down among the stones, like a small waterfall.

He lifted his foot and climbed up, because this was part of the play area in the garden. For enjoyment, the stone steps were narrow and small, made of uneven gravel. Moreover, the height of each step was relatively high. If it was just right for adults, it would be harder for children to climb.

Garlan looked at his small arms and legs and shook his head helplessly, then spread his legs and began to climb upwards with difficulty.

He’d just climbed halfway, and when he was in the middle, a person started coming down from the stone steps.

Heimos and the other four had already received Ziemuer’s notice that the four of them would enter the arena in the afternoon to fight. The final winner would then be brought to King Camos.

He had just finished eating lunch, and at the moment, he was strolling, digesting food, and relaxing his mind.

As a result, at a corner, he saw the familiar little back climbing up on the narrow stone steps in front of him. The movements seemed a bit laborious, and the movements of his small arms and legs were a little clumsy.

Seeing the small figure from behind, Heimos couldn’t help but smile.

He opened his mouth, intending to stop the child.

Suddenly, a dark shadow appeared on the top of the stone steps.

Before Heimos had time to make a sound, the dark shadow suddenly jumped down from the top and hit Garlan who was halfway up.

Garlan was already struggling to climb the narrow and steep stone steps. Suddenly, there was a roar from above. When he looked up, he saw the little lion cub appearing at the top of the steps with a small piece of meat in its mouth.

As predicted, this glutton!

He thought frustratedly.

Seeing Garlan’s little lion cub seemed very excited, its little tail flicked hard, and the meat he was holding fell to the ground.

Then, the little guy arched his body and flexed his limbs-

Ciao3! No-!

Before Garlan had time to say this, the excited little cub swooped down from the top and rushed forward, hitting him hard.

Although the little furball was small, Garlan was also small, and the ground consisted of uneven gravel, the narrow stone steps made it unstable to stand.

The little cub rushed down from above with an impulse, and immediately slammed Garlan back and rolled down the stone steps.

He subconsciously hugged his head, only to feel that the sky was spinning, and his whole body rolled a few times.

However, just as he was about to fall heavily under the stone steps, a pair of hands stretched out and hugged him.

The young teenager who rushed up to catch him was not much older than him. He was also hit hard and rolled on the ground several times before stopping.

After stopping, Heimos quickly turned over and sat up, his eyes swept over the child in his arms.

The child’s fair and delicate limbs were bruised purple, and there were many small abrasions, which seemed like he had been hit hard.

Heimos knew that these were just external injuries, so it didn’t matter much. He nervously looked at the bruise on the side of the forehead of the unconscious child and whispered Garlan’s name.

The little cub also whimpered and ran over, probably knowing that he was in trouble, and kept circling around the unconscious Garlan, constantly humming from his throat.

…

In a trance…

His body was hot like fire, almost burning the blood dry in his entire body.

He lay feebly. His breath was weak, his whole body lacked strength, unable to lift even a finger.

He opened his eyes slightly, and all he could see was that person’s face.

That person’s supposedly handsome face always inexplicably carried cold and evil intentions.

The golden-red eyes, like the erect pupils of a king cobra, made one’s back chilled at a glance.

At this moment, those terrible eyes were staring at him.

A hand stretched over, pinched his cheek forcibly, and squeezed his mouth open.

The man stared at him with cruel eyes, and forcibly poured poisonous water with a strong medicinal smell into his mouth.

He desperately grasped the man’s hand holding his cheek, but his weak strength made him only leave scratches on the man’s powerful wrist.

Poisoned water poured violently into his mouth, blocked his throat, and choked his windpipe.

The inside of the body that had been ravaged by the poisonous water violently burned like fire.

His whole body was hurt so badly that tears welled up in his eyes.

He opened his eyes and swallowed his last breath.

The last thing he saw were those golden-red pupils that were chillingly cold.

…

His head throbbed painfully, and his consciousness was a little dazed. He slowly opened his eyes, and what he saw at a glance was the golden-red eyes that looked down at him from above.

The man’s hand squeezed his cheek, as if he was going to be fed with poison in the next second-

The hairs on Garlan’s cold body suddenly stood up at this moment.

He’d just woken up from a past dream, his mind was blank.

Without even thinking about it, he raised his hand and thought he was still dreaming.

With a ‘Pa!’ Garlan used his palms and slapped him. Almost exhausting all the strength of his body, he hit the face above him hard.

Then, without waiting for the other party to react, he pushed the man abruptly away and stood up on his own.

He stood, panting violently, staring straight at Heimos.

He clenched his hands firmly on his side. His right hand was numb and painful due to what he had just done.

“What are you doing?!”

A voice rang out loudly and came in abruptly from the side.

That voice awakened Garlan all of a sudden.

He reacted, looking at the obviously young Heimos standing opposite, and saw Ziemuer hurrying over.

Oh no.

He thought in a daze.

He’d accidentally confused his previous memories from the dream.

He looked at Heimos, whose cheeks were already reddening, and opened his mouth, wanting to apologise.

However, before he had time to speak, Ziemuer, who’d just come, interrupted him.

“Heimos. Time is up, come with me right away.”

Ziemuer glanced at Garlan, then looked at the lion cub on the ground circling around him, but did not say anything. He turned his head to look at Heimos and spoke.

After he finished, he turned and left, regardless of whether Heimos followed.

“That…I…”

Garlan stretched out his hand wanting to talk to Heimos, but Heimos had a cold expression and ignored him, and quickly followed Ziemuer, who was already gone.

His hands were still awkwardly stretched in the air and his mouth was still open, but he could only watch the backs of the two people disappear from his sight.

It’s over.

Garlan covered his face.

Heimos had already regarded himself as being annoying, but now he was afraid he hated him even more.

He was one step closer to his death.

His fifth rebirth.

Less than three days.

Kicked King Camos.

Splashed ink all over Ziemuer.

Slapped Heimos.

Well, the results were really impressive.

1

A large open area of grassland, especially in North America.

2

The word “meng” comes from Japanese animation, and is used to say something very cute. Maimeng (literally, to sell meng), means someone is pretending to be cute.

3

(Actual word: 次奥) is an internet term. It means fuck. Because some forums, post bars, games, etc. have blocked swear words, netizens have created a new word, “Cao”. The pinyin of 次奥 is cì ào. Read “Ciao” quickly, and read it as “操cào”- fuck.
