Chapter 204  I Never Learn! by Harem-Fan

Thursday afternoon, I was working in my 70's retro office in Phoenix tower. This was one of the rare days that only Hinata was with me, as Jenifer, Tina, and Cat had traveled to North City to inspect businesses there at Club Di.

Hinata was sleeping in the smaller bedroom after a long morning of practice, and Ryu keeping her up late last night with wanting to spend time with her. Naturally Hinata no longer accompanies me for protection, as two Grandmasters is overkill in any nation, let alone one. But she only wants to be at my side loyally forever.

Luke Fu is sitting in front of me reporting what he has recently been doing and taking orders for me. He was saying...

"...And he was put into the Africa camp as a debtor and shipped off. Though the heat stroke he suffered made him permanently muddled in the head, but it was good, he can still function fine, ha-ha."

"Luke, what is going on with the competing brothel next to our Country Club? Have our people taken pictures of all the politicians and City Officials going in and out of there? They know I have a hacker under me and use no security cameras in there?"

"Yeah, Leader, Jasmine Rin has had her men all watch 24 hours a day and we file everyone. Some guests have started using disguises to enter and leave, but we tail them and find out who they are, hehe. Oh, and sister Jasmine said to come and have lunch and visit her."

My lips twitch at Luke grinning at me, because he knows the relationship I have with her. That woman is a persistent one, jeez. She actually tells all of the clients and Fire Birds members that she is only reserved for the Leader to touch, sigh...

"We ate there just last week?! How often does she expect me to go there... Whatever. We will schedule the end of the month lunch there, so tell her that to make her happy."

Luke grins and nods. He then took his sunglasses off and asked.

"Leader, are you sure you do not want me to personally handle those Lee shits and Greg Feng? You know I ain't even afraid of Central, right? Just let go of my collar and I will just kill them for you... Just take care of my baby and wives when I am gone?"

I smiled at one of my most reliable and loyal friends on the dark side and shook my head.

"Thanks Luke, but even if those three die, the Lee will just send more, so it is better to keep the Devil you know, than deal with the Devil you don't. Plus your little angel needs her daddy to come home. I need a living brave man at my side and not a martyr, get me? I cannot replace Crazy Hummer Guy."

He puts on his sunglasses showing he is back in his cool mode and finished with.

"I will pressure the families of the clients that were bribed by Greg Feng then, and make sure they know Greg is not a good business partner... But would it not just be easier to just burn his factories to ash?"

I sigh and tell him the politics of it.

"Sigh... I want to do it very much, but two things stop me from doing it. First it is Jill Feng who actually owns the buildings, so I would be attacking her personally; Second... That is what Raymond Lee wants me to do. He has people watching and guarding the clothing and business buildings, recording any violence I use against them. His goal is to put me in normal jail, not in Government jail."

Luke stood up and he said with a head nod.

"Alright, and I have also left all 100 white base model white BMW's in the empty parking lot like you said. Everything in them but the license plates are identical so they will fade into the city cameras like a ghost in plain sight. A group of people with large cases all got in and took them like you said they would. Anything else?"

"Nope. And I know you will not ask so I will tell you. Those are our people who will spread out in Star City, so if your subordinates come to you about their movements, just ignore their actions. I gave them Fire Birds tokens to use our facilities as hidden members, so spread the word to let them act freely, even if they kill our own men, it will be by my order."

Luke, who has known me for almost 4 years, reads behind the line and is impressed I have a large group of hit-men in Star City, like I predicted the Government's meddling. He waved and headed to the elevator-banks casually.

-

About 15 minutes later I was called by the front desk.

[Leader, sorry to disturb you, but Head Feng has come to have a meeting with you. She does not have an appointment, so?]

I rub my chin thinking why Jill came to fire Birds headquarters. This is common in the past, with Tony and Daniel Feng meeting all the time... But this is the very first time that Jill Feng has come, so I offer.

"Let her know that Tina is out of town, and up in North City."

A moment later the secretary came back.

[Mrs Feng said she is here for the Leader, not Vice-Leader.]

     "Then send her up."

-

Five minutes later, my door opened, and Jill Feng, who I have not seen in a year stood there at the door. She stood tall and proud like her mother Lane Feng, that she is identical to but her gold eyes differ from her mothers blue ones. She looked around before entering and asked.

"Is your office free from eyes and ears, so we may talk about confidential topics?"

I see she must want to speak about me as the Yellow Emperor, because she did not say it before when she and I had our rough phone call. Back then I knew she was deeply hurt, but sadly, I could do nothing for her.

Hinata in the other room, if she was awake already knows, so it is not a big deal if she awakened and heard our talk, I ignored her presence, because Hinata asks or tells my secrets anyway, choosing to act like a servant, sigh.

"Yes, I do not allow any surveillance of this room but my encrypted smartphone, and what of your phone?"

She locked the door and walked across my enormous office telling me.

"I left my purse and phone in my car, please close the blinds in-case anyone can take pictures of what I will show you next."

I see she has a legal envelope, and then I pressed the button to close the shutters, making the room only lit by lava-lamps and overhead lighting for my desk area.

She sat in the chair opposite of my desk chair and crossed her legs. Jill then seriously tossed me the envelope. So taking the ques I look at the contents.

The first document was her stepping down from the Feng Head position. The second piece of information was the person who will take her place. The final thing was her divorce papers... All signed and dated for tomorrow.

The person to take over the Feng is a member loyal to the Lee clan, and someone that Tony Feng despises, but he is in fact the next legal bloodline Feng in line to inherit the Head position. The whole reason that Tony and Daniel held the competition was to keep this guy from getting the Fire Birds or this unthinkable, Head position. He was trouble just as a side branch head.

I look at Jill in confusion. She shrugs her shoulders and tells me.

"I hate my current life, and living as a commoner woman free of all of the burdens feels better than keeping the Feng together. You know why I am upset, right?"

Does she want me to kill Greg?

"If you're telling me this, are you wanting me to get rid of Greg for you? Or am I missing something... You know I hated having to choose, but I will be honest, I have always loved Tina..."

"I was mad because you never cared for me... You know how I felt about you, and you did nothing. That is why I yelled at you, for leaving me in the hands of that trash. But I hate my fathers actions more, so that is why I am throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I just want to be happy, Rick."

"Jill, I always have cared, but I was helpless because of the separation of the Syndicate and main branch. Even now, all I can offer is to get rid of him for you."

She leaned over and put her finger on the divorce paper and smiled.

"Who needs him dead? This gets rid of him for me, so you having to kill a bug is pointless. It might make you feel better, but I am a big girl and know how to deal with problems."

I nod my head because she is right. So I ask.

"So the reason you invited everyone next week was for this? Then why tell me like this, because I am the Fire Birds Leader?"

     Jill asked me seriously.

"Brother in law, Yellow Emperor, Rick Tang... If there was no law separating us, would you have loved me? When I am finally free of those shackles, will you love me, or will you reject me because you never had feelings?"

She is not acting and I can tell she is deadly serious, so I closed my eyes for a brief moment to think.

I think of all my past interactions with Jill. The many family dinners, the BBQ House, the times at University, the sisterly dates in the city. She even kissed me before telling me it was just her wanting to practice with someone she trusted. All of the time we spent before she was forced to pick a noble husband. Then her rage of being shafted, sigh.

I opened my eyes and told her my thoughts.

"If I am being completely honest, yes. If the Syndicate law was not in place, I would have married you. And though I hate this decision you have made to give the Feng away... I will not reject your feelings."

I was surprised because Jill started to cry hearing my words. I got up and wiped the tears falling from her gold eyes and asked.

"Jill, what is wrong? Did I say something wrong?"

She held my hand to her face that was wiping tears and she smiled. She thought about her call last week, about how her own husband would not ask of her feelings and tears, yet Rick did not let her down. She kissed my fingers then said.

"Rick, that is what I wanted to hear all along. I have made up my mind. Let me help you, and you help me?"

"What are you talking about? What help do you need, Jill?"

Jill stood up to look me in the eyes and told me what she wanted to do, her plan made my eyes open wide.

-

An hour later, I was sitting in my chair looking out the window and up to where my Feng and Ana's house is, this is something I do all the time these years. Sipping my whisky, a pair of hands rubbed my shoulders. I look up to see Hinata smiling down at me with care. She said,

"I love your heart, Sensei. You will break your own vows to make those around you happy. Even loving this foolish woman who tried to kill you. This is one of the many reasons I love you."

After Hinata kissed me I blushed slightly and confirmed.

"So, I guess you heard everything then, sigh. Yeah... I know I am being used, but I have always cared for her. I kill people for a living and a Syndicate Leader, so breaking some minor law's is fine, right?"

Hinata sat in my lap and took a sip of my drink, then put it in my mouth for me. She said,

"Any decision you make, I believe is the right one. So, now that you are empty, let us go to our next destination, my Teacher."

I smiled at her, and she got my jacket and swords for us. Then Hinata and I left the office.

Time to go and talk with Lucy about the latest events...
