Chapter 96  My Shameless Father-In-Law! by Harem-Fan

With that said and done, the music started from the live band, the food was served, and the guest chatted about the rushed announcement. I could tell from the song table, they had wanted to say or do something but George squashed it.

Kim being the angel she was, traded seats with Linda so we could sit next to each-other. Linda made a big show of sharing food with me in a tasteful manner, once again showing her willingness in our union to come.

-

After about 30 minutes and most everyone had food in them, it was time to get up and socialize. I quietly pulled my uncle to the side and asked him with a man's gossip heart.

"So uncle, you and Zoe Hong? I was surprised to hear that!"

He leaned in to keep it down and explained.

"Did she mention it? No, it is no secret and Mei probably told you from your training. yup, she is my mistress. I would not send you anyone I could not trust, so my lover is someone I know won't betray you and the wives. I do have two children with her and they are good adults. They are in important roles inside the Hong clan. Do you know why our main branch does this?"

     "No clue?"

"This is how the subordinate clans show their status, and proving they belong to the four main clans. So my children in the Hong will work with me and I them. Over time our bloodline will thin and this cycle weakens, but this is why they are a distant family, even the annoying Song and Ning. I trust the Hong and the Bai clan, but this too will change in a hundred years."

     "But... Do you love her?"

Anthony pats my shoulders and smiles.

"Do I love my personal maid Zoe Hong? With all my heart. She may not be my wife officially, but she and I are still very much in love. Are you worried about you and Mei? Marriage is a formality, but love is forever. Personal maids for us noblemen are a sacred duty and blessing."

"Um, I accepted Mercy Mu as a personal maid before I knew what they were?"

Uncle Tang's mouth twitched trying to hold in his laugh seeing my face of accepting her without understanding and patted my shoulder, then consoled me.

"Well? Then you have a couple of choices here. First you can fire her from the position and make her a normal maid. Second you can tell her you did not clearly understand her intentions, or Third, you can just try and get to know her over time and see if you two connect. The Mu clan is one of the most respected of our 16 subordinate clans, well in my opinion."

     "Why are they so respected?"

Anthony looks over at the blonde maid standing with Mei and Zoe and tells me.

"Just in the past 2000 years, never once has a Mu clansmen ever betrayed their lords or friends. They are loyal to a fault. This is the family motto drilled into them since young. They are not the strongest clan but are the reason the Lang have not fallen to this day. The Mu clan was also the clan that was the First Emperor's Personal Guard 30000 years ago."

     "Wow, damn!"

"Damn right! So now think about your three choices I gave you, and think about what you want your legacy to be in your life. Looking back, was one of your three choices something you as a man would be happy with?"

Wow, my uncle literally gave me good advice but did not tell me what I should do. I respect him for guiding and not telling... Well the next guy is the opposite!

"Anthony, good job getting my new son-in-law alone, mind if I cut in, ha-ha?!"

My uncle nodded, patted my shoulder, and left the seat next to me open for Georg Lang.

Sitting down he looks around to make sure we are alone and tells me.

"Sorry. After your father died, I only made one attempt to help you and your sister out. When you rejected my help, I never tried again due to my pride."

His grey-eyes looked at me with complication.

"I forgot you two were only hurt children and I washed my hands of you when I was rejected one time, that I am sorry for. The second thing I am sorry for is telling my daughter and Mercy to ignore you as well. My pride is very inflexible like a turtle's shell."

"No, I don't blame you for that. We were too stubborn to let anyone in our lives."

"No, I even knew that trash Scott was beating you and my pride stopped me from helping as well. Part of why Linda moved away from me and my wife was my neglect of you for profit. I did not want to upset the Tang for a son of the savior of my daughter. So you should be resentful."

I smile because I feel he has some guilt but does not know how to mend fences, so I ask him.

"You are only to blame if you hired those men to kill my father, or you were the one to tell Scott to bully me. The other-stuff is minor and we can move past it. You also fired Mercy Mu, didn't you?"

His eyes opened on the last one and then had a look of understanding.

"No it makes sense you can figure that out, you are you after-all! Yes, she wanted to serve you but was too proud and honor-bound to ask me, so I let her go saying it was for Linda. I half thought she would serve Linda, but my daughter told me she chose you. How ironic that she chose you not knowing who you really are?! The descendant of the First Emperor and the descendant of the Imperial Guards, it is kinda funny really!"

"That is right, I wanted Linda to move into my mansion two plots down. She kinda intends to do it without both of our permission, but... As a man I need to at least ask you."

All of a sudden his well mannered serious face vanished, and he put on a grin like a certain Turtle Hermit from a popular anime from my past life and said.

"Fantastic! I fully support her decision. Oh and another thing..."

Head Lang looks to his wife who is talking to Linda.

"Officially, I forbade you two from consummating your relationship before marriage."

Then he leans in to whisper.

"Unofficially, if my daughter wants to live like a wife with you, I will not do anything. And on another unofficial piece of advice... The sooner you and Linda make a baby the more secure your wedding date will be. My wife has a bad habit of pushing things off. So if you want that June wedding, you two better get moving. But, only if that is what my Linda wants."

"I am confused, why would she push it off?"

"My wife does not want to let go of her baby. It is that simple... She is also stubborn, sigh."

"I understand, but I will let Linda make the decision and not force her, okay?"

George pats my shoulder and smiles.

"I am assured that you care for her, then I understand. Well go mingle and be young, ha-ha."

So after that weird talk, I walk off to go see others.

-

When I got to Victoria's table I saw Alex trying to chat her up, and I stood next to James who was sitting in the middle of Vick and Ashley.

Alex must have been talking business due to hearing...

"I don't know why you pulled out of our deal?! It was perfect?"

"By the way Teacher Long, I want you to come and cheer for me when I fight this guy, is that fine with you?"

Victoria remembered telling me to chase off men, smiled at me and said politely.

"I will support my student, so I will gladly support you in your match in two weeks. If you win, I will have to buy you another meal as a Victory-Lap."

Alex Renaldo points at me like I am stealing his childhood crush he wanted in his corner and asked her.

"Vicky, why are you going when he asked, but just now refused when I asked?"

She pushed up her glasses and said.

"Mr Tang invited his new computer teacher to the match, so it is proper for me to chaperone another female teacher and student, to make sure nothing inappropriate is going on between them, that is the only reason."

Like psychic sidekick superpowers, my buddy James inadvertently threw gasoline on the fire by saying a bit loud.

"Rick! You invited teacher Kim Smith to the fight as your date?!"

Poor Alex could never in a million years have guessed his ex-fiance Kim Smith was going out with his opponent?! How many women in Alex's life are crossing paths with this scruffy looking young man? Even his fucking slut-date and Ana Zi are flirting with this punk?!

"No, James, teacher Smith and I are not dating, brother, don't accuse me and Kim of that! She only asked me to beat up Alex and she was going to cheer for me on the side. That is it."

"Really? I don't know brother, she was looking at you kindly."

I look at my idiot friend for getting me in trouble with Vicky and threaten him.

"Ashley, may I stitch his lips shut? Please?"

She whispered in James ear and he went pale, then he said.

"Sorry, I am on too much medication and my mouth is busted, he-he!"

I see Victoria smile at me like she is saying she believes me, phew!

"Rick Lee, you are really trying my patience. Are you purposefully trying to interfere with my love-life so that I won't fight well? I will not fall to your petty mind-games! Hope is easy and Ana Xi is a gold-digger so take them if you want them, but leave poor Vicky alone. And Tina Feng is my wife so prepare to lose!"

Victoria pointed to Alex and said firmly.

"Right there Alex. That is why I cancelled my business with you, because you think I am yours. I belong to no man unless I confess my love to him, so leave now."

"Vicky, that is not what I meant, sigh. Rick, do not touch my Kim! She is only confused and will be my wife when she comes around. I will leave now."

Victoria puts her hand on her forehead tired of dealing with stubborn men. I really want to give her a hug but I can't. She saw my eyes and smiled, then told me.

"Rick, you should greet the Feng before he gets there, fufu. We are fine here, so go."

So I listen to my Teacher.

-

I walked to the table with Tony Feng, Lane, and Tina. I wave and greet.

"Glad you three came and sorry if I made it awkward with the conflicting families?"

Tina pointed to me and said.

"If you had gone to talk to that Sho woman we would have had words!"

I put my hands up in surrender.

"Don't blame me! I am only nice if people are nice back and she has never been bad to me. You do remember I am fighting for your hand and not hers right?"

Lane, feeling sorry for me, said to Tina.

"You have teased him enough right dear? You are going to make him think you mean it."

"Ufufu, Sorry Rick, I just wanted to tease you for it. But I did love how you made Jenifer embarrassed, good job Rick."

I feel good knowing I am not in trouble with my Feng wife and said.

"Yeah, I was so used to her in her business-suits, I had almost mistaken her as someone else. She actually looked adorable in that. Why is she wearing it anyway?"

Tony points to a table a few over and says.

"Her father, the head of the local branch of the Han family is here and if she is seen not in her maid-outfit it would embarrass them. They don't like her dressing like a secretary when she is a maid. We naturally don't care, but it is her family after-all."

"Gotcha! Then give me one moment!"

I held my smartphone and when I was about ten feet from Jenifer I said.

     "Jenifer! Say cheese!"

Flash Click! As she looked at me in her proper maid pose, my flash went off confusing her as she watched me turn and walk away. Then it hit her what I did and shame colored her face!

I showed the three Feng the picture and Tina just laughed at her stupefied expression. Tina said.

"Send that one to me later, I will scrapbook it, fufu."

Linda at this point walked up and held my left arm and greeted the Feng.

"Head Feng, Lady Feng, and classmate Feng, thanks for coming today."

Tony, seeing her true intentions, smiled because he can tell that Linda and Tina have an adversarial rivalry that is truly a friendship in disguise. So he said.

"We came to support Rick. You made a great choice. If it would have been Scott, I would have stayed home, so thanks for having my Family young Lang."

Linda pointed to me then Tina and said.

"Rick will win, so I am not leaving my fiance. I hope you don't mind sharing, Tina? Because, I am here first."

Tina was kinda first, she and I know it, so does Lane, and unknown to all three of us, so does Tony, but sadly only Linda might not know?!

Tina stood up and stood in-front of the two of us and smiled.

"Well Linda, I am not going anywhere as well, so you will just have to get used to seeing me around, humph."

Just as my women were having fun putting on a show for the rest of the crowd, Alex saw an opportunity to make his move while I was with Linda in front of Tina, and his voice was heard besides us.

"Tina my love, it is only two weeks till I win your hand, so would you do me the honor of dancing with me?"

He actually gave a nice small bow to show his manners but something unexpected was said by Linda.

"Sorry Mr Alex Renaldo, but my fiance was already in the process of giving Miss Feng a dance, so you will have to wait for the man of the hour to have his turn with your love. I don't like it, but Tina did ask first, so I will allow it."

Yeah, all three Feng and I were impressed with her bullshit! I was not aware yet that she learned this from her mother, the open boldface shamelessness to adversaries!

Tina pointed to me and said.

"I need to dance with Rick due to him being Number 1, so Number 3 just wait for him to be done with me first, then I will see how I feel after, fufu. Come with me Rick Tang, and I will show you how a real woman dances!"

Linda's eye twitched at that, but for the harem she will suck it up with her watching from the side.

Alex, seeing Linda's unhappy glare decided to try and fluster me so he asked Linda.

"Miss Lang, would you give me the honor of this dance?"

"I will only ever dance with Rick, my fiance, so no, never, and oh, my Rick has a gun on him with rubber-slugs, should I tell him you wanted to touch his woman?"

Alex tried to hold his smile and only looked like he needed to shit, so he just left, no he left the whole event, and Hope ran after him trying to get him to stay.

Linda smiled seeing Tina didn't try to embarrass any of them by dancing like a proper young woman should, so her anger from before evaporated.

With Alex leaving in anger and Hope chasing him, the rest of the party was quiet and uneventful.

I was unaware of the following conversation before we left between father and daughter...

-

George was saying goodbye to his loving daughter Linda and spoke.

"Linda, from this day forward, you are effectively Rick's wife in my eyes. I also want you to think about one small thing..."

Linda straight-faced acknowledged. If this story is on any-other site than Scribble Hub, then it was stolen without permission!

"Thank you father, and what do I need to think about?"

He looked at the Feng family leaving and said to his daughter.

"In two weeks, Rick will win his fight, and I am sure the Feng will fast track their union. That means Tina Feng will most likely try and have Rick's child first. That is all I want to say. Good luck my lovely daughter. Father is glad you picked the man you wanted. Live long and love."

Then her father turned to go to his wife with a shameless smile!

Linda understood what her father meant and she held her abdomen and said.

"Less than two weeks, and then that would let me give birth before the next University year. This makes me happy. I can be his wife and beat Tina at something."

Women are craftier, and men jump into traps they clearly see, sigh...
