“Yes, the magic circle was drawn on some cloth and on the way here. One of the other magic circles was in a special hangar inside the Wizards Government of Spain's central building. Unless we can keep the Phoenix in this state, we have no choice but to lure it there.”
Behind his mask, Daganzo’s expression turned curious.
“Of all places, why did we have to lure it there?”
Defense personnel answered.
“It’s too risky to let the Phoenix fly freely in the city. The hangar has been reinforced with a special magic circles that strengthens its durability against magic. We still don’t know how the Phoenix will react when we carry out this plan, locking it up there will restrain it for a certain period of time.”
Daganzo nodded.
“About the plan you told me before, the third steps were the most difficult to carry out. Maintain the Phoenix above the magic circle until the Phoenix Resurrection Ritual magic spell is finished?”
The defense personnel nodded; he appeared to realize something.
“We might need to freeze it like this.”
Daganzo nodded; he then turned to Alton.
“That means we really need Alton to attack the Phoenix again using his soul dagger.”
Alton nodded.
“No problem, leave it to me.”
They all then observed the frozen gigantic Phoenix leader automaton on the top of one of the skyscrapers warily while hovering on their broomsticks. Alton turned to Furano and watched her curiously; he then smiled cheerfully.
“Let’s do our best, Furano.”
Furano came to her senses and turned to Alton; she then smiled.
“Right, thanks Alton.”
Alton smiled and nodded.
“Okay.”
Furano smiled. Alton watched Furano curiously; he then smiled.
“Can I continue liking you just like this?”
Furano smiled.
“Of course, Alton.”
Alton watched Furano curiously; he then smiled gently.
“But that makes me feel lonely.”
Furano was surprised. Alton turned to the front again while smiling. Furano watched Alton curiously; she then smiled.
Sometime later, the Defense personnel, Alton, Daganzo, and Furano continued observing the Phoenix alertly. Not long after, the Phoenix moved slightly and cracked the ice imprisoning it. Behind his mask, Daganzo’s expression turned serious.
“We’ll start attacking it, Alton.”
Alton nodded.
“Understood.”
Alton removed his soul dagger’s hilt from its sheath; he then raised his dagger to face level and concentrated.
“Soul Forge, Ice Dagger.”
A dagger blade made of white and blue ice formed on Alton’s soul dagger’s hilt. The defense personnel who saw Alton’s dagger for the first time looked curious. Alton rode his flying broomsticks toward the Phoenix, followed by Daganzo, Furano, and other defense personnel.
The Phoenix continued trying to move; the cracks in the ice imprisoned it, growing wider and crumbling. Alton arrived before the Phoenix’s chest and stabbed his Ice Dagger at the Phoenix’s magic core, which went out and froze. The ice dagger attack caused the Phoenix’s body to freeze down to its core. Other defense personnel surrounded the Phoenix from various directions. Daganzo concentrated.
“Ice Slash.”
Frozen ice spread on Daganzo’s sword blade; he then slashed it toward the Phoenix from quite a distance; huge crescent-shaped ice shot towards the Phoenix and hit it, freezing the part of the ice that cracked and collapsed. In the other direction from the Phoenix, Furano hovered on her broomstick; she then concentrated.
“Blizzard Blast.”
Dendrite ice crystals with a diameter of one meter formed on the Furano handgun muzzle, and frozen ice spread on its barrel. Furano aimed her handgun at the Phoenix and fired it; ice shaped like an arrow shot and hit the Phoenix; the ice immediately spread and thickened again on its body, strengthening the ice that imprisoned it.
Dozens of other defense personnel swung their swords and used ice blast magic spells, repeatedly hitting the Phoenix’s body. Unlike before, the defense personnel’s ice blast attacks thickened the ice that imprisoned the Phoenix. But even so, the Phoenix was gradually still able to move its body and tried to break down the ice that imprisoned it. Alton was surprised, he then said through his single earphone.
“There’s something wrong, this Phoenix can continue to moves slightly even though we keep freezing it, its strength is gradually increasing.”
Furano was surprised.
“Even though its already attacked with Ice Dagger.”
Alton appeared to realize something and then was surprised.
“Unless the Phoenix’s strength continues to increase to the point that Ice Dagger is increasingly less able to affect it….”
Behind his mask, Daganzo’s expression turned serious.
“We have no other choice but to continue trying to attack it.”
They all continuously continued their attacks with ice elemental magic spells, but the Phoenix could still move its body, and the ice imprisoned it continued to crumble.
In the control room, the wizards from the Researcher Division operated the computer, and the control desk detected that magical energy was forming and continuing to surge in the Phoenix’s magic core. The researcher leader was shocked and immediately contacted the defense personnel through his earphone connection.
“There has been a surge in magical energy in the Phoenix, defense personnel please be alert.”
The defense personnel were surprised.
Before Alton, he continued to try to stabilize his dagger stab, even though the Phoenix’s movements were getting stronger. The magic core before Alton, which had previously gone out and blackened, began to light up again and gradually became brighter. Alton was surprised; he then communicated via his earphone connection.
“The magic core was active again and getting brighter, there are no signs of dimming again.”
Daganzo and Furano were surprised.
At another location quite far from the Phoenix, four defense personnel rode their broomsticks towards the Phoenix; as they saw the Phoenix being attacked repeatedly with Ice element magic spells, their expressions turned serious. Each of them carried a large folded cloth on their back containing magic circle drawings made by the researcher division. The four cloths were intended as spares. One of them communicated through a single earphone in his ear.
“Hang in there, we’ll be there soon.”
Near the Phoenix, one of the defense personnel’s expressions who attacked with Ice Blast magic spells turned serious.
“Understood, we are increasingly unable to hold it in.”
The magic core before Alton became brighter and began to burn again, causing the other attacks by the defense personnel, Daganzo, and Furano, to be increasingly less effective in freezing, and the ice that imprisoned the Phoenix collapsed more quickly because of its increasingly free movements. Alton appeared to be having more and more difficulty holding on; he then communicated through his single earphone.
“I might not be able to hold the phoenix much longer.”
In another location behind the Phoenix. Daganzo, who had just attacked it with his Ice Slash magic spell, answered through his earphone connection.
“The magic circle is here Alton, get ready to go to the next steps.”
Alton replied.
“Understood.”
Alton took out the notebook given by the previous defense personnel from his trousers pocket; he opened it in his left hand while still maintaining his ice dagger, which he stabbed into the Phoenix’s magic core using his right hand. Furano and Daganzo took out their small notebooks from their trousers pockets and opened them in one of their hands, and their other hand held their handgun and sword.
The four defense personnel carrying the large cloths folded on their backs arrived above the Phoenix. One of them removed the folded cloth on their back, and then each of them held a different corner of this cloth. They then flew in four different directions, and this square-shaped cloth opened, big enough to cover the gigantic phoenix automaton from above. The magic circle drawn on this cloth faced downwards, towards the Phoenix. Daganzo, Alton, and Furano saw that the magic circle had been positioned above the Phoenix, and they began to read the incantation in their notebooks and concentrate. The incantation they had read glowed, and the magic circle image above the Phoenix also glowed and became brighter. One of the defense personnel contacted the control room through his earphone.
“Plans are being implemented, sir.”
The researcher leader’s expression looked hopeful.
“Good, keeping on this way and we might succeed.”
One of the researcher division wizards sitting before one of the computers was shocked.
“The Phoenix’s magical energy is increased rapidly, sir.”
The researcher leader turned to the computer and was shocked; he then communicated through single earphone.
“Attention to all defense personnel, surge of magical energy detected in the Phoenix, immediately get away as far as possible.”
The defense personnel’s expression turned serious; he then looked at the Phoenix with a serious expression as he thought.
“Even though its already half way done....”
The defense personnel stopped their attacks and rode their flying broomsticks away from the Phoenix. One of the defense personnel immediately flew towards Daganzo, who was not too far away from him.
“We got a warning to stop the plan and stay away from the Phoenix right now.”
Daganzo came to his senses and turned to the defense personnel.
“Are you sure? we’re half way done.”
The defense person nodded. Daganzo communicated with Furano and Alton via his single earphone connection.
“We’re gonna stop the plan and move away right now, there is a danger warning.”
Furano and Alton were surprised. Furano closed her book and rode her flying broomstick away. Daganzo and the defense personnel next to him then also rode their flying broomsticks away. Alton, closest to the Phoenix, immediately pulled out his Ice Dagger from the Phoenix’s magic core, closed the book, and then rode his flying broomstick away.
