The envoys from the Gobaldo Republic had come to the village many times since their first visit.

It didn’t take them long find out that we were directly trading with the nations in the desert and those in the east. And as soon as they did, they asked for their nation to be added to the nations we traded with. As such, it was decided that there would also be a railway between their nation and ours.

“By the way, Luke-sama, we would be absolutely delighted if you were to visit our nation.”

“Huh? Gobaldo?”

When Ian-san suggested so, I replied with a question of my own.

“Yes. Our Prime Minister has expressed his desire to meet with you.”

Being a republic, the Gobaldo Republic was not ruled by a monarch. Instead, a person from its parliament was elected to the position of head of the country for a set amount of time.

Hmm, honestly, I don’t really like meeting meeting with people in such high offices…even though that’s what I’ve been constantly doing lately. Well, whatever, it’s not like I can simply turn down the invitation.

“That sounds fun! I wanna go too! Take me along, ok?”

Especially when Selen commented so…

And so, it was decided that we would be sight-seeing(?) around the Gobaldo Republic.

“Unsurprisingly, it would be faster to take the reyl way up to the border between our nations. From there, we would take carriages to our capital.”

“Oh. Well, we can just travel by air, so no need to bother.”

“By air…?”

We should arrive there sooner by using a flying park as per usual, rather than traveling via carriages.

There were 7 of us traveling to Gobaldo: myself, Selen, Philia-san, Selius-kun, Noel-kun, and also Dant-san and Brookley-san.

Dant-san once served as the governor of the northern region of the former Albert territory. At present, he took the lead in handling the village’s diplomatic relationships. Meanwhile, Brookley-san was the head on matters regarding the village’s trade and economy.

They were the ones handling the more specific matters regarding our trade with the nations in the desert as well as the eastern nations.

And since we were going to the Gobaldo Republic this time, I figured it was better to bring them along.

By the way, Millia wasn’t going with us this time because she was busy with a lot of stuff. That pleased Selen, which prompted another quarrel between them. But that was normal for them, so I just left them be.

“First, I’ll teleport us to the border.”

When we were ready to depart, I used teleport on everyone, including our guide Ian-san.

“This is the Talister duchy, isn’t it?”

“Yeah. The Gobaldo Republic is right next to it, after all.”

If one went south of the Talister duchy, they would enter the Barste Kingdom. And if they went west instead, they would enter the Gobaldo Republic. Another way of putting it was that the Talister duchy bore the responsibility of defending our kingdom against two nations.

That said, unlike the Barste Kingdom which had attacked our nation before, it didn’t seem like the Gobaldo Republic had much ambition about expanding its borders.

“Our nation has never invaded another since we became a republic.”

Ian-san proudly declared so.

That made them quite the opposite of the warlike Barste Kingdom. Apparently though, despite the two nations sharing a border as well, they had an amicable relationship, mostly due to Barste somehow being deeply indebted to the Gobaldo Republic.

“Alright, now, please board the park.”

I asked so and everyone walked to the park I just made.

“It’s going to lift off now, ok?”

“!? It’s, it’s really rising!?”

When the park began to float in the air, Ian-san had her eyes wide open.

“It’s, it’s moving through the sky…! I didn’t think you were capable of even such a thing…”

We crossed the border and entered the Gobaldo Republic.

After about an hour of traveling in the sky like that…

“Behold, everyone. That is our nation’s capital, Meiren.”

When Ian-san pointed ahead and informed us so, Selen shouted in excitement.

“Wow! A city in the middle of the sea!”

“No, Selen-dono. Rather than a sea, that is a lake.”

Philia-san corrected her.

“Huh? It’s so large though!?”

Apparently, the capital city of Gobaldo was built on an island that was in the middle of a large lake. Moreover, the island was connected to the outer lakeshore by an especially long sandbar.

“Since we’re here, what do you say we land on that sandbar?”
