Chapter 355

Gaius-san had done away with his pride as an envoy of a major nation and began pleading desperately.

“Err…for now, I think we should go take a look. I don’t know how much help I would be though.”

“Y-you will!?”

They said that a few days ago, the enemy army had advanced to the outskirts of their capital. This enemy was apparently really strong, and they had no idea how long their capital could last.

“I must say though, I would have preferred if you were upfront about this rather than the roundabout way you’ve been before.”

“W-well, according to rumors, you absolutely hated wars…so, we were certain you would have turn us down if we were to ask you to get involved in one the first time we meet.”

I certainly hated wars, but…it would seem the truth was being distorted a little as it got passed along. Was that also why the other countries didn’t tell me of this situation and instead tried to socialize with us? Like, maybe they thought that if they were close with me, I would come help them out when this invasion turned its head toward their countries. Which made sense, given that it was only human nature for one to not be moved by the plight of some faraway, unrelated nation at war, no matter how grave of a tragedy might befall it.

“It doesn’t look like we have much time, so fill me in with the details as we travel. For now, let’s teleport to the place closest to your kingdom.”

We teleported to the western edge of the Kaion duchy.

This was where our nation shared a border with the Loda Kingdom.

“!? You can instantly travel all the way here too!?”

“We’ll have to fly on a park from here on out though.”

We would have to travel while I was using Territory Takeover to make the new lands part of my village. Once it was considered part of my village though, I would be able to use teleport, making travel even easier.

When I made the aforementioned park and made it float in air, Gaius-san fell down on his behind.

“It’s flying…indeed, if one could do something like this, they would be able to attack cities without worrying about some wall…”

Since the enemy army was already at the capital’s doorsteps, we had to hurry as much as we could. I used 3D Reposition and made the park move as fast as a train. The Loda Kingdom stretched wide, but fortunately for us, its capital was located slightly east from the center of their kingdom.

After a few hours of flying.

“I see it! The capital! …the enemy army’s already…”

As soon as the city came into view, Gaius-san shouted so. The wall that surrounded the city was besieged by the enemy.

“But our capital’s wall is the strongest throughout our kingdom! They couldn’t so easily…what!? The wall! It’s destroyed…!?”

Gaius-san shouted.

One portion of the capital’s wall had a giant hole in it.

“What’s that? It looks like a giant man…”

Not that far off from the hole in the wall was something I had never seen before. It had the shape of a person, but it didn’t seem to be a living being. It was made of metal—maybe iron—after all…

“A Giant Soldier…!”

“Giant Soldier?”

“That’s what the accursed weapon that’s behind the empire’s steady advance is called…!”

According to Gaius-san, that large human-like entity was an extremely powerful weapon the empire had exhumed and restored from some ancient ruin.

He added that by having someone ride inside and making it move, it could fire off magical projectiles from the gun-like thing on its arm. One such attack was apparently strong enough to pulverize a strong castle gate.

I feel like I’ve heard something like that before…?

“It’s a practically a mobile battering ram! It’s because of that thing that our cities have fallen one after another…!”

The soldiers were flooding in through the hole in the wall.

In an effort to stop their enemies, the soldiers of the Loda Kingdom hurriedly set up a defense. However, perhaps due to the fact that their city’s wall had been demolished, their morale was unmistakably low. Even so, they still defended their city against the invaders.

*DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNN!!*

The Giant Soldier demolished another part of the wall.

“A-at this rate, our capital…”

Faced with what seemed to be a hopeless situation, Gaius-san staggered as he said so.

The Loda Kingdom’s soldiers might have felt the same, yet they still tried their damnedest to block off the newly made hole.

Unfortunately, the Giant Soldier charged at them with great speed in perhaps an attempt to scatter them away.
