Chapter 76.2: First High School (35)

July 28, 2023 by Wyrd

Ruan Qing didn’t get into trouble; he left on his own.

He glanced downstairs at the players, intensely dealing with the ghost teacher. Seizing the opportunity while no one noticed him, he directly left through the stairs on the other side of the cafeteria.

The ghost teacher was held back, and only Song Yu could still track him. As Ruan Qing passed by the fountain outside the cafeteria, without hesitation, he threw the talisman in his hand into the water.

The talisman formed a graceful arc in the air before sinking to the bottom of the pool, causing ripples as it touched the water, while the remaining paper in the talisman scattered on the surface.

Without looking back, Ruan Qing hurried towards the direction of Class 1-1, not needing Song Yu’s talisman anymore.

Inside the teaching building, it was no longer the lively and neat place it used to be. Many classrooms had bloodstains, and the rooms were in chaos, as if they had been through a life-and-death battle.

He couldn’t find any students in the classrooms, and he suspected they either got into trouble or hid somewhere.

This confirmed that this side of the teaching building was not safe.

Ruan Qing remained vigilant, cautiously walking towards Class 1-1. When he was about to reach the classroom door, he stopped and swiftly hid behind the corner of the corridor’s wall, letting the wall conceal his figure.

It was because there were people inside Class 1-1—people he hadn’t seen in a long time, Xiao Shiyi and Mo Ran.

Ruan Qing contemplated for a moment, preparing to go in directly. After all, these two were his underlings, and they should help him.

As for the purpose of the summoning, he could easily deceive them.

However, as Ruan Qing was about to step forward, he heard their conversation, and he froze in place. In the next second, he immediately crouched down...

***

Mo Ran leaned against the window, one foot on a chair, sitting on the table, with a crazed smile on his face. “The only thing Brother Su can rely on is the Su family. Once we kill Su Zhiwei and his parents, he will have to depend on us.”

“We don’t even need to destroy Su family’s business. After all, Su Qing has never learned anything about management. It’s impossible for him to take over the company. Even if he does, he won’t be able to handle such a large company and will still need to seek help from others.”

Xiao Shiyi furrowed his brow and spoke calmly, “His parents are not a problem, but Su Zhiwei won’t be easy to kill.”

Malice filled Mo Ran’s eyes. “Su Zhiwei relies on nothing more than that black mist, no different from us.”

Xiao Shiyi pondered for a moment and said, “He has been in this school for ten years, and his research must be more thorough than ours. Even if we absorb the power of those ghost students now, our chances of winning are not great.”

“Who said they’re not great? His lovely little brother also wants to kill him, you know.” Mo Ran looked at Xiao Shiyi, revealing a cruel smile. “As long as they turn against each other, our chances of success will be much higher.”

“As long as we kill Su Zhiwei, his little brother won’t be a threat. After all, he can’t even leave the First High School. We just need to take Brother Su far away from him.”

Mo Ran spoke with an ambiguous smile, “Even if they don’t turn against each other, it doesn’t matter. After all, Su Zhiwei’s weakness is quite obvious.”

Xiao Shiyi’s face darkened, and he said coldly, “I disagree.”

Everyone knew Su Zhiwei’s weakness—it’s Su Qing himself. But at the same time, Su Qing was also their weakness.

Only a lunatic like Mo Ran could come up with such crazy ideas.

Mo Ran raised an eyebrow. “What are you afraid of? Isn’t our cooperation for Brother Su? How could I bear to kill him? Even hurting him a little would make me feel distressed.”

Mo Ran exaggeratedly covered his heart, pretending to be heartbroken.

Xiao Shiyi coldly said, “But it will scare him.”

“Just a little scare. He’ll get scared in bed too. What’s the big deal?” Mo Ran shrugged indifferently, and then he paused, looking at Xiao Shiyi and chuckled. “Do you think... the two of us together wouldn’t scare him? Or is it that... after this is all over, you want to kill me and have him all to yourself?”

Mo Ran’s voice was completely different from before, gentle yet inexplicably revealing a sense of killing intent and danger, sending shivers down one’s spine.

After Mo Ran finished speaking, even before Xiao Shiyi could respond, he smiled and hopped off the table, taking on the appearance of good buddies as he embraced Xiao Shiyi’s shoulder, even patting it affectionately. “Just kidding, how could I possibly doubt you, Brother Xiao? Right? After all, you’re the most trustworthy.”

Mo Ran touched his chin and continued, “However, there’s only one Brother Su, and there are two of us. It’s indeed not easy to decide.”

Mo Ran proposed, “How about this... I’ll go on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and you go on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. We’ll go together on Sundays?”

The more Mo Ran spoke, the more excited he became, his expression brightening as if he could already picture the scene. His tone was full of enthusiasm. “Brother Su will definitely like it.”

Ruan Qing: “...” Thanks, but I don’t like it.

Ruan Qing felt that these two individuals had gone insane.

Instead of standing up, he planned to leave directly while using the wall for cover. After all, going in now would be like walking right into a trap, and he wasn’t that foolish.

It would be better to keep a distance, lead these two away, and then head to Class 1-1. He still had time; he just needed to complete the ritual within the next three hours.

In reality, the notebook containing the summoning ritual didn’t specify any time or location restrictions. However, Ruan Qing speculated that the mirror sealing the deity was likely the one at the back of Class 1-1’s classroom.

If he performed the summoning in Class 1-1, the chances of success would undoubtedly be much higher.

Regardless of success or failure, summoning always came with a price, and Ruan Qing naturally wanted to succeed on the first try.

As long as he knew the name of that ‘deity’, he could immediately submit the answer and leave this instance.

However, just as Ruan Qing turned around, he came face to face with a blood-red eye.

The eye seemed as if it had been plucked out, still oozing blood, slowly wriggling toward him on the ground. If Ruan Qing had turned around a little slower, that eye might have crawled directly onto him.

Ruan Qing widened his eyes, and his pupils shrank as he was scared and fell directly to the ground, emitting a faint sound.

Yet, that eye still wriggled towards him.

The eye clearly belonged to the ghost teacher!

When the group of players imprisoned the ghost teacher’s body, they likely didn’t pay any attention to his eyes.

So, the ghostly eyes found him.

Inside the classroom, Mo Ran and Xiao Shiyi paused upon hearing the faint sound, and both looked in the direction of the sound.

Mo Ran propped himself up with his hand, swiftly got up, and ran to the wall.

He looked at the blood-red eyeball still moving on the ground and furrowed his brows.

Was that eyeball the source of the sound when it hit the wall?

Xiao Shiyi also came out and asked, “What’s going on?”

Mo Ran tilted his chin slightly, gesturing towards the eyeball still wriggling on the ground. “I have no idea whose it is.”

“It’s really disgusting.”

After saying that, Mo Ran stomped on the eyeball directly, splashing its juices and making it even more disgusting.

Xiao Shiyi took a few steps back when Mo Ran stomped, avoiding it, and looked at Mo Ran with disgust.

After receiving Xiao Shiyi’s gaze, Mo Ran withdrew his foot, looking indifferent to Xiao Shiyi’s disgust.

The two of them glanced around, then turned around and walked away slowly.

Meanwhile, someone hiding behind the podium in the adjacent classroom was alarmed.

The sound of him falling to the ground just now wasn’t too soft; someone with a strong perception would have definitely heard it.

Thus, he didn’t have time to find another hiding place after the sound was made. Instead, he rolled directly into the nearby classroom and hid under the podium table.

Fortunately, his position just now was directly facing the door of the adjacent classroom. The whole process took less than five seconds. As soon as he hid, Mo Ran arrived at the spot where he had just hidden.

Mo Ran and Xiao Shiyi were walking when they suddenly noticed something unusual and stopped to look back.

The eye that had been crushed had now returned to its original state and was still wriggling on the ground, as if the whole thing had been an illusion.

Mo Ran and Xiao Shiyi furrowed their brows and immediately walked back.

A ghost that could recover instantly was evidently powerful. They had initially thought it was one of the students’ eyes from the exam room.

After all, when they absorbed the students’ powers earlier, they didn’t pay attention to whether any eyes had escaped.

But obviously, this eye was not from those students; it belonged to... the teacher?

Mo Ran reached out and picked up the eye from the ground, not minding its filth.

The eye struggled in Mo Ran’s hand. Even though only the eyeball remained, it still carried intense resentment and unwillingness, but it couldn’t break free from Mo Ran’s grip due to his strength.

Yet, the eye didn’t give up and continued to struggle desperately towards a certain direction.

As if it had no thinking ability, as if something in that direction was attracting it.

Mo Ran and Xiao Shiyi exchanged a glance and both remembered what had happened in the exam room, the teacher’s favoritism toward a certain student, and the hair that had been taken.

Mo Ran’s lips curled slightly, and he chuckled softly. Excitement he couldn’t contain was evident in his eyes. He couldn’t wait any longer and strode in the direction where the struggling eye was pointing.

Xiao Shiyi followed closely with big strides.

The direction the eye was struggling towards led them to an adjacent classroom, so they stepped inside.

The classroom was easy to survey; there were only two places to hide.

One was under the podium on the platform.

The other was the cabinet at the back, where miscellaneous items were stored.

However, the cabinet with the miscellaneous items was wide open and had fallen to the ground, making it clearly visible.

So, only the desk on the platform remained as a possible hiding spot.
