Chapter 77.1: First High School (36)

July 29, 2023 by Wyrd

The entire classroom was now empty, and the tables and chairs were scattered about as if something terrifying had occurred. There were numerous bloodstains on the floor and walls.

It looked chilling and horrifying.

The podium faced the entrance, and from that position, one could not see the table clearly, as it was blocked by the desk.

Holding a struggling eyeball in his hand, Mo Ran walked swiftly towards the side of the podium. Instead of bending down to look, he lightly tapped the desk and said, “Brother Su?”

In this empty classroom, the tapping sound seemed to reach into the depths of one’s heart, causing an uncontrollable acceleration of the heartbeat.

There was no response after Mo Ran’s voice fell.

Mo Ran didn’t mind and spoke with an uncontrollable excitement, “Brother Su, will you come out obediently by yourself, or do I have to pull you out?”

Under the table, there was still no sound, as if there was no one there at all.

However, the eyeball in Mo Ran’s hand continued to struggle in the direction of under the table, indicating that there was someone there.

Mo Ran was very patient and spoke in an enticing manner, “Brother Su, you should know, right? This school is very dangerous now. You can’t survive alone. Besides relying on us, you have no other choice, do you?”

This school had been completely cut off from the outside world. The people inside couldn’t get out, and they couldn’t even make emergency calls.

Even if people from outside manage to come in, they would only be trapped here. The First High School was now a place where you could enter but couldn’t leave. No matter how powerful one’s background was, it was of no use at this moment.

Even if the military were to come, they wouldn’t be able to leave the First High School alive. The black mist possessed divine power, and if they wanted to leave the First High School, they had to kill all these beings.

Unfortunately, killing them was not a simple task.

There’s no need to fear anything anymore, no need to restrain anything. In this school, he could act recklessly as he pleased.

He could obtain everything he had ever desired without any scruples, including the one he had desired the most... this person.

Mo Ran’s smile grew even brighter, his voice tinged with a hint of deception. “Brother Su, rest assured, I will protect you. You will always be my Brother Su, and I will always be your most loyal dog.”

Perhaps afraid of alarming someone, Mo Ran forcefully suppressed his excitement, but it was evident on his face, making him look terrifying.

Xiao Shiyi leaned against the wall by the door, silently staring at the desk on the podium, lost in thought.

Mo Ran kept talking, his patience gradually wearing thin, but there was still no movement under the desk.

His eyes became deep and profound as he reached out and grabbed the edge of the desk, bending down to look underneath.

Under the desk... there was no one.

There wasn’t even any debris, just a student uniform.

Mo Ran’s smile vanished instantly, his face darkening as he reached out and took the student uniform.

The uniform for the First High School was specially customized, and on the left chest, the name and class of the owner would be written.

Mo Ran held the uniform with an uncertain expression, gently rubbing the words “Su Qing” with his thumb.

The student uniform was very cold, devoid of any warmth, not like it had just been taken off.

Clearly, it was not what Mo Ran had guessed.

The boy did hide here at some point, but perhaps it was a long time ago, long before they came to this side of the teaching building.

The person had long since left.

The joy and excitement in his heart instantly disappeared, replaced by displeasure.

Ever since Su Zhiwei took the other away, they had never seen the boy again. They had even been hunted down and attacked by the ghosts of students in the examination room.

After finally killing that group of ghost students, they could no longer find any trace of the boy, as if he had been hidden away.

Mo Ran expressionlessly crushed the eyeball in his other hand.

His hand holding the eyeball was naturally hanging down, and even after crushing the eyeball, not a drop of it splattered on the uniform.

Xiao Shiyi frowned when he saw the situation, a hint of disgust flashing in his eyes. He directly took the student uniform from Mo Ran’s hands.

The uniform was relatively clean, but there were bloodstains on the elbows and shoulders, which looked disturbing on the otherwise neat uniform.

The bloodstains had already dried up, and it was impossible to discern whom they belonged to.

Xiao Shiyi held the clothes close to his nose and sniffed. The smell of blood was very faint, almost undetectable, but there was a subtle lingering fragrance of orchids that caught him off guard, making his heart skip a beat.

Xiao Shiyi hesitated for a moment. The strong presence of the orchid fragrance didn’t seem like it had been... removed for a long time.

At least not for several hours.

But Xiao Shiyi glanced at Mo Ran without saying anything.

After crushing the eyeball, Mo Ran absorbed the power from it, and the black mist inside the eyeball merged into his body. The eyeball never recovered this time and was discarded by Mo Ran as if it was trash thrown to the ground.

Mo Ran took out a piece of paper, wiped the dirt off his hands with a dark expression, and then threw the paper away before gradually walking away with Xiao Shiyi.

Hearing the fading footsteps of the two, Ruan Qing breathed a sigh of relief.

He stood up from the balcony outside the window.

Many classrooms in the First High School had small balconies outside the windows. They were not large, but served as a safety measure in case of accidental falls. Usually, they were not used much, and most classes used them to place potted plants.

Though the balcony was narrow, it was enough for one person to stand comfortably.

Ruan Qing knew early on that the eyeball would expose his location. In fact, the most logical thing for him to do was to take the eyeball and hide it together.

But analyzing things rationally was one thing, and taking action was another. He couldn’t overcome his fear of ghosts at the moment and couldn’t convince himself to pick up the eyeball.

Even though the eyeball posed no harm to him.

Furthermore, the two had already heard the sudden sound. If there was nothing in the original location, it would surely arouse suspicion from Mo Ran and Xiao Shiyi. By then, they might search the area nearby.

That’s why Ruan Qing didn’t take the eyeball with him when he hid.

But it was only a matter of time before the eyeball exposed his location. After Mo Ran and Xiao Shiyi turned around, Ruan Qing took off his own clothes and then climbed over to the balcony.

Ruan Qing was also gambling on the fact that the eyeball lacked any thinking ability. He should be unconsciously tracking his aura.

Fortunately, as he guessed, the scent on the clothes also served to divert the attention of the eyeball.

The two of them didn’t discover his position.

However, climbing down from this balcony was easy, but climbing up was a bit difficult.

The height of this balcony was much lower than the classroom, designed to prevent students from climbing down casually, at about two meters high.

Ruan Qing had to tiptoe to barely touch the edge of the window.

When Ruan Qing climbed down, he used a fallen chair to support himself and flipped over the window edge. He almost fell onto the balcony.

But climbing up, there was nothing to step on.

There were only potted plants, small ones at that, obviously not capable of bearing a person’s weight.

Moreover, this was on the fourth floor, jumping down was not realistic, and with his stamina, climbing to the third-floor balcony was clearly impossible.

So, the only way was to climb back into the classroom.

Ruan Qing glanced at the window ledge and attempted to jump up and grab the edge to see if he could flip inside.

But obviously, he didn’t have the strength. Ruan Qing’s hands became red and sore after trying only twice.

Entering the instance essentially involved importing his own body. Ruan Qing’s body had always been pampered, never doing any heavy work. He hadn’t even lifted any heavy objects. After just two tries, his hands began to throb painfully.

This place was really too dangerous. Once something happened, there would be nowhere to escape. It’s best to leave quickly.

Just as Ruan Qing was trying to come up with a solution, a deep and familiar male voice suddenly sounded above his head, catching him off guard.

“Do you need help?”

***

The sun was setting in the west, disappearing from view, leaving only a faint glow in the sky. The whole world began to gradually dim.

Night was about to fall.

The entire world seemed to exude an ominous feeling, as if it was filled with repression and danger, like the calm before a storm.

Upon hearing the familiar voice, Ruan Qing’s eyes widened in astonishment and looked up toward the window.

Mo Ran was leaning against the window, looking down at him from a higher vantage point, his mouth curled into a very bright smile.

Seeing this, Ruan Qing’s eyes widened and instinctively wanted to step back.

Fortunately, he didn’t forget that the balcony’s width did not support his retreat. He forcefully stopped himself from stepping back and stood stiffly in place.

Mo Ran lowered his gaze and looked at the teenager on the balcony.

The teenager’s silky and soft hair scattered as he looked up, revealing his exquisitely beautiful face, so fair it was almost translucent. His beautiful eyes widened, showing a hint of confusion and helplessness, but he could only purse his lips and stand still, stiff in place.

Giving people an illusion of being obedient.

In an instant, Mo Ran’s heart seemed to have been struck by something, even the bright smile on his face froze, and his eyes momentarily turned blank, his pupils involuntarily dilating a little.

At this moment, the teenager could only stand on the balcony, looking up at him, his eyes only reflecting his figure, unable to go anywhere.

Obedient, as if he could do anything for him.

Do anything... anything at all...
