[Later]

“Ggh?!”

It had only been three seconds. The moment Korin fell to the ground with a groan, time seemed to start moving again.

At almost the same time, Seele slid to a stop. However, it seemed she couldn’t summon enough strength. With her legs wobbly, she fell on her backside.

“Eh… eh…?”

Seele looked at her partner lying on the ground with a befuddled look on her face.

As Korin was turning into particles of light, she looked up at me and muttered, “How…?”

“The answer’s simple. Come back, Bow.”

The moment I gave the order, the bow fallen by Korin’s side flew back to my hand.

The sight left the girls stunned.

“It’s a special skill for bow users ‘Use It Properly!’. An idiotic name, sure, but it has a highly convenient ability: returning your bow to you automatically. And…”

“Kishaa!”

The bow shook, releasing a strange cry. It was possessed by one of my cute familiars, Ponjuichiro.

“Monster-possessed weapons can move by themselves, albeit a little. Therefore, upon the activation of the skill, it can slightly alter its trajectory.”

This was my plan.

With my explanation finished, Korin looked at me, seemingly creeped out.

“Ehhhh… So when you started spouting about the bow being the weakest weapon and whatnot then tried to summon your Lightning Wolf, you were just acting to bait us all along…?”

“Yup.”

They would have been more cautious if I had thrown away swords or spears.

However, what I had thrown was a bow. An auxiliary weapon that was useless without an arrow. It was no surprise their attention had been more focused on the words ‘Chimeratic Lightning Wolf’.

“Uu… so, if we didn’t strike when you tried to summon the wolf, we would have won?”

“Then the summon would have succeeded. With its extreme speed, the Chimeratic Lightning Wolf would have no trouble catching you guys.”

“So we’d lose either way?!”

Even after we tried so hard–darn it! Korin slammed her fist on the ground.

With her dead, the ability-sharing seemed to have been canceled. The cat-eared ninja’s small fist only made a small thud.

With that, her body finally vanished, leaving particles of light that floated up to the sky.

“Graaah…! You’re so hateful, Yuri-san…! Next time, next time, I’ll definitely kill you…!!!”

“Yeah, I’ll take you on anytime.” I saw Korin off with a grin.

You’re really the best rival. I’m looking forward to enjoying more thrilling battles with you.

“…Now then.”

I turned to face Seele.

Her bright red eyes glared at me resentfully.

She was still as fiery as when we first met.

“Dammit… you only won by luck…!”

“What are you talking about?”

“Grr, if we had only attacked from your sides like we did before, instead of coming at you from the front and above, we would have won! Your silly punch wouldn’t have hit me, either…!”

Those words sounded like those of a sore loser. If anyone else had heard them, they’d probably frown and say ‘Just admit your defeat’.

But I didn’t mind. The fact that she had thrown such lines meant she was that frustrated.

And she was frustrated because she really wanted to win.

So, I’d refute them head-on. I didn’t intend to lose in the battle of words, either.

“It wasn’t luck. –You guys have been analyzing me, haven’t you? Consequently, you didn’t think the same attack would work on me twice. I simply read through that and so outwitted you, that’s all.”

“Uuu…?!”

Tears spilled from Seele’s eyes. Seemed like she couldn’t quibble anymore.

“Damn it, damn it, stupid Demon King, stupid Yuri! You may have good looks, but your heart is evil and your boyfriend is bald!” She screamed as loud as she could (But I mean, my heart is righteous and I don’t have a boyfriend).

“I haven’t lost yet… Korin may be dead, but I can still fight…!” Seele wiped away her tears.

Her fighting spirit hadn’t waned.

The look on her ruddy face was the prettiest I’d ever seen.

“So, what’re you gonna do?”

“I will kill you, of course. Brace yourself Yuri, ‘cause I’m just starting!” Seele charged toward me.

I’d no intention to run away. I kept my eyes locked on hers.

“Uooooooooooooooooooooooooo—-!!!”

Her scream echoed throughout the town.

She rushed straight towards me with her greatsword held overhead.

Forward, forward, forward, forward, forward. She kept pushing forward—and then…

“Ah…”

And then… she died.

Her greatsword fell off her hand mid-swing.

Her legs lost strength, and she collapsed onto my chest.

“Damn… it…!”

A drop of tear spilled out her eye again.

Numerous black swords were now stuck in her back.

They were ‘Living Weapons’ summoned by my partner, Maa-kun.

With her extreme Agility boost gone, she was practically just a practice target for the Living Weapons.

“I’m sorry, Seele. I wanted to kill you with my own hands, but…”

But that would mean I was going easy on her.

That was why I killed her without the slightest bit of mercy. I killed her without even getting my hands dirty, using the most effective and efficient means at my disposal.

In response, my former aide said, cursing me baselessly, “You’re the worst… evil incarnate, battle maniac… black bellied beauty… The only good thing about you is your pretty face…!”

After a pause, she continued, “But… thank you, Yuri. For not holding back, until the end…”

Suddenly, a smile bloomed on her face.

As she disappeared into particles of light, Seele stared at me.

“From the bottom of my heart, I hate you, but I also love you, my Great Demon King. Since you killed me, you’d better not lose to others, okay?”

“Of course. Your ex-boss is undefeatable, you know that right?”

We hugged each other tightly until she completely turned into light particles and disappeared.

See you again later. I’ll invite you and Korin to join my guild, and together, we’ll rampage until we drop…
