A week later, at Cangnan City No. 6 High School.

"Hey, look, is that person from our school? Why is there a cloth covering his eyes?"

"Wearing our school uniform, definitely from our school."

"He's also holding a white cane, seems to be a blind person."

"Weird, haven't seen him before?"

"Must be a new freshman this year, right?"

"True, with those black cloth strips around his eyes, he looks quite handsome."

"But how does a blind person attend classes? Our school doesn't have special classes, does it?"

"Don't know."

"..."

As expected, as soon as Lin Qiye entered the school gate, he attracted a wave of attention.

However, for someone like Lin Qiye, who had experienced such scenes many times, he nonchalantly walked through the school's maple-lined avenue towards the direction of the teaching building.

Thinking about it, Lin Qiye had prepared himself for dealing with those troublesome characters. In many brainless novels, there would inevitably be a few so-called "school bullies" who would mock and taunt him, setting the stage for future confrontations...

However, those troublemakers didn't appear. Instead, many students approached him voluntarily, asking if he needed help.

This left Lin Qiye feeling somewhat disheartened.

Considering that these were modern students who had undergone nine years of compulsory education, there weren't that many troublemakers who would blindly cause problems. Moreover, even if there were such groups, they tended to uphold a sense of "brotherhood." Helping friends settle issues and expressing camaraderie was acceptable, but bullying a disabled person would lead to public condemnation, resulting in a tarnished reputation.

Climbing the stairs, Lin Qiye quickly found his classroom, Class 2 of the second year. Having spent a year in a special school for the first year, he was now a transfer student.

From most TV shows and novels, transfer students were usually depicted as isolated and miserable figures, especially in the second year when cliques were already formed. It would be challenging for someone like Lin Qiye, who wasn't proactive, to truly integrate into the class.

Lin Qiye was well aware that he wasn't the type to initiate interactions. Even if he had joined them in the first year, with his aloof demeanor, he might still be a lone figure.

Yet, being alone wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Lin Qiye enjoyed the solitude, undisturbed, focusing on his studies...

If he were forced to establish good relationships with others, he wouldn't be able to do it.

Standing at the classroom door, Lin Qiye took a deep breath, composed himself, and stepped inside.

As Lin Qiye entered the classroom, the previously lively atmosphere suddenly fell silent. The air became still...

One second, two seconds, three seconds...

Just as Lin Qiye was about to say something, the class erupted!

"You must be Lin Qiye, right? Your seat is ready, over there."

"Lin Qiye, can you see? Let me guide you."

"Classmate, walk slowly, there are things on the floor... Hey, put your bag back!"

"..."

Before Lin Qiye could react, several students had approached, carefully guiding him to his seat. A tall male student even took Lin Qiye's bag and carried it on his shoulder.

Surrounded by the group, Lin Qiye safely reached his seat.

Lin Qiye: ...?

This doesn't seem to follow the script.

"Lin Qiye, I'm the class monitor, Jiang Qian. If you need anything, feel free to ask me." A girl with a ponytail patted her chest and said.

"I'm Li Yifei, if you need help with lunch, just call me, I'll take you." The guy who helped with the bag smiled.

"And me, I'm Wang Shao..."

"..."

Many people gathered around him, warmly greeting him.

For a moment, Lin Qiye felt somewhat bewildered.

Honestly, this was quite different from what he had imagined.

"Do you guys know me?" Lin Qiye's expression was a bit strange.

"The homeroom teacher told us about you," replied class monitor Jiang Qian, "but what left a deep impression was your aunt. That day, she held a basket of eggs and stood here, giving each of us an egg, asking us to take care of you..."

A thunderous sound seemed to explode in Lin Qiye's mind. He stood there, stunned.

What those classmates said next, he couldn't hear. He just stared blankly at the classroom, images of the middle-aged woman with a hunched back, holding a basket of freshly boiled eggs, earnestly pleading with his classmates, flooded his mind.

"Classmates, please help my nephew; his eyesight is not very good, and he has a cold temperament. Please take care of him..."

"Little girl, you're so pretty, my nephew is handsome too, you'll surely like him..."

"This child, Lin Qiye, is cold on the outside but warm on the inside. Once you get to know him, you'll get along well..."

"..."

At some point, the black ribbon became slightly moist.

"Aunt..." he murmured to himself.

While everyone chatted, a female teacher carrying books walked in. Seeing Lin Qiye in the front row, she first offered some condolences, then gave a brief introduction, and started the class.

"Turn to page ninety in your textbooks. Today, let's discuss the history and challenges of modern Daxia..."

Perhaps due to Lin Qiye's presence, the teacher skipped the usual process of skimming through the textbook and directly explained its content.

"A hundred years ago, there were more than two hundred countries on Earth, scattered across seven continents and four oceans. Despite the lack of advanced technology in that era, people could still travel to different countries by boat, experiencing the collision of cultures..."

"However, on March 9th of that day, a mysterious fog suddenly appeared over Antarctica and rapidly spread, devouring nearly 98% of Earth's surface within 24 hours."

"The towering skyscrapers built by humans, the ancient primeval forests, the vast oceans... everything was covered by the fog, and countless countries succumbed to the fog without a trace."

"However, this inexplicable fog, when about to invade the Daxia territory, stopped."

"No one knows the reason, but it just stopped."

"For a hundred years, numerous theories and speculations have been proposed. Some say the fog is a type of organism that, after consuming 98% of the Earth, was satiated and stopped near Daxia. Others believe that the specific magnetic field in Daxia's location hindered the spread of the fog. There are even those who claim it's the accumulated heritage of Daxia for five thousand years, protecting the homeland..."

"The composition of this fog surpasses human understanding. Whether it's light, sound, radio waves, or other detection methods, none can penetrate this fog. Nobody knows if, behind this fog, the other countries swallowed a hundred years ago still exist..."

"According to experts, the probability of survival within this fog is extremely low. Inhaling it into the lungs or contacting it with the skin is fatal!"

"In the past hundred years, our country has dispatched numerous well-equipped exploration teams into the fog, but not a single person has returned."

"Fifty years ago, our country successfully launched its

first satellite, and images sent back from space showed that the entire Earth had turned gray and white, leaving only Daxia as a pure land."

"Today's Daxia is like an island on this planet, and we... may be the last survivors of this planet."

"Therefore, the day the fog appeared, March 9th, is called 'Survival Day.'"
