Chapter 16 – You Should Go Reincarnate

“Ding Dong—” The mechanical rope creaked, and the elevator stopped firmly on the third basement level. With a ka-la sound, the heavy metal door panel opened.

The next second, the indifferent looking young man in a white T-shirt walked out of the elevator.

The corridor leading to the morgue was icy and damp. Perhaps because it was too far underground, a cold wind seemed to run straight from the soles of the feet up into the brain. Lian Xi walked forward expressionlessly, his monotonous footsteps echoing in the empty corridor.

He walked forward step by step and finally reached two spacious white doors.

Lian Xi raised his head.

On both sides of the door, there were four large black letters on a white background.

On the left: Feasts and sorrows.

On the right: The dead rest in peace.

Standing in front of the door, the handsome young man narrowed his eyes. Then he raised his hand and pushed open the door.

Ka-La!

It seems like no one has opened his door for a very long time. It is aging and old, and made a creaking sound as soon as it was pushed open. As soon as the door opened, the dim light coming from inside would make people squint subconsciously to see things clearly. However, only a small gap was opened before Lian Xi pursed his lips and he quickly stretched out his left hand.

The bell on his wrist moved automatically.

Omm!

Lian Xi stretched out his hand and caught the black bug that flew out towards him.

After the bug was caught in his palm, it struggled slightly and then suddenly fell silent. Lian Xi frowned, threw the bug to the ground and trampled it to death thoroughly with his feet.

He looked up and walked into the morgue.

There were two rooms in the morgue, connected in the middle.

The first room is for storing the clothes of the deceased. There were various clothes and dying relics in large and small cabinets.

People are alone when they are born. And there will also be no one accompanying them when they die.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, not a penny can be taken with you into death.

When Lian Xi walked into the next room, an extremely cold air rushed up to meet him.

Inside, the freezer exuded a deep chill and the electrical appliances roared and buzzed.

Whether it was a coincidence or an accident, there wasn’t any doctor on duty at the morgue today. Lian Xi gazed at the rows of freezer cabinets. He paused to bow to them briefly, then walked deeper inside the room.

First, he walked to the first freezer, took a deep breath and suddenly grabbed the handle and pulled it out.

Ka-la!

There wasn’t anybody inside.

After closing the freezer, he walked to the next one.

For the first three freezers in a row, there wasn’t anyone inside. It wasn’t until he opened the fourth one that he found someone.

It seemed to be a middle-aged man who died unexpectedly. His head was almost split in half. He may have been hit by a car, or he may have slipped and fallen from a great height.

He opened six freezers and two of them contained dead bodies.

Lian Xi opened the seventh freezer.

His eyes gradually went cold.

Lian Xi lowered his head and looked at the motionless female corpse lying in the freezer.

A long white cloth covered her naked body. She had been frozen for a long time, so her lips were tinged with bluish purple, and there was a light layer of frost on her cheeks and eyelashes. Her eyes were closed and she looked peaceful. She looked no different from the corpses in the first few freezers, however Lian Xi just knew….

It was these eyes that stared at him in the elevator just now without blinking.

It was these lips that asked him a question!

A chill suddenly rose on his back, and his lips were tightly pressed. He hesitated for a moment, and reached out to the nose of the female corpse.

A minute later…

There wasn’t any sign of breathing.

Suddenly, a woman’s “hehehehe” laughter echoed throughout the morgue.

Lian Xi’s expression remained unchanged. He was about to push the freezer back. Suddenly, his eyes sharpened. Lian Xi stretched out his hand and caught a small black bug that had emerged from the female corpse’s ear.

He flattened the worm using his palm and then looked at it. Observing for a while, there didn’t seem any difference between this black bug and ordinary bugs.

No, something wasn’t right!

Lian Xi immediately pulled open the freezer again.

At this moment, he couldn’t care about the difference between men and women, and he tore off the white cloth

A naked female body appeared in front of him.

This female corpse should have died of illness. Her body is very intact and clean. But Lian Xi looked closely and frowned slowly.

He reached out and pressed the woman’s lower abdomen.

He pressed with some force.

Her lower abdomen is like a piece of paper. With a snap, it depressed all the way down and connected to the skin on her back!

…Where were her organs? !

Lian Xi checked carefully.

“Her internal organs are gone.”

The sudden appearance of the corpse, the weird little black bugs, and now mysterious disappearing organs….

After thinking about it, Lian Xi took out a piece of paper to wrap up the black bug and put it inside his pocket.

Lian Xi re-arranged the appearance of the corpse, closed the door of the freezer, bowed slightly and then walked out. As he walked out of the freezer, he saw an old mop and tattered clothing belonging to a janitor in the corner of the morgue.

His eyes stayed on the mop and the clothes for a long time, then he strode open the morgue doors and walked out.

In the corridor, he ran into an elderly couple and a doctor in a white coat.

The old couple supported each other, crying piteously.

“Doctor, how is this possible? It’s so sudden… how can she be gone so suddenly? How could this be ah! It’s impossible!”

“This morning we were still planting vegetables in the field. Last night, wasn’t she good? Last night she was fine!”

Doctor: “Some illnesses can take a sudden turn. Come this way with me.”

When passing by Lian Xi, the doctor glanced at him a couple of times and said strangely, “Which family’s member are you?” Then withdrew his gaze.

When Lian Xi reached the elevator entrance, from behind him came the sound of the howling of the husband and wife from inside the morgue.

“LinLin!”

“My LinLin! How could you let us white-haired people send away a black-haired person! How can we keep living!!!”

With a ding-dong, the elevator arrived and Lian Xi walked inside.

……

At the outpatient department entrance of Su City’s Yuan Hospital.

An old yellow and black beggar in shabby clothes staggered out of the small door on the side of the outpatient hall.

He seemed to be drunk. He took two steps and swayed as he walked. The people around him saw him from a distance, and hurried to move away from him with disgusted looks on their faces.

But there were also some that didn’t notice him.

A young man and woman got out of the taxi and rushed towards the hospital gate.

The young man, who had a small flat head, was walking in the front. He said impatiently to his girlfriend, “Hurry up okay. You’re the one who wanted to see a doctor so I had to take leave to accompany you. Now you’re being so slow. Don’t you know I still have to go to work in the afternoon?”

A girl with dyed blonde hair and lip studs got out of the car. When she heard her boyfriend’s words, she immediately became angry and sneered, “You think I want to fucking see a doctor? I’m here for a check up okay, because I’m pregnant with your baby!”

“I wear a condom everyday alright…” He said this but his momentum disappeared. He thinned his lips then properly held his girlfriend’s hand.

The two of them inadvertently ran into the old beggar.

The old beggar: “Ah!”

The young man glared at him: “What are you doing! Do you use your eyes when you walk? How come this hospital even lets beggars in?”

Hearing this, the old beggar raised his head.  A pair of orange and dull eyes stared straight at the young man.

The young man swallowed his saliva: “What are you looking at!”

The girlfriend by his side inexplicably felt cold. She glanced at the old beggar’s black teeth and the dirt on his nails, and pulled her boyfriend away: “Forget it, don’t worry about him. Let’s go.”

The two young people walked into the outpatient hall of the hospital together. From a distance, they could still be heard quarrelling.

“That stinky beggar glared at me, you didn’t see it just now?”

“Come on, can’t you show some virtue in front of your son? Making a big deal over that old thing, don’t you think it’s dirty?”

Under the bright sun, the old beggar looked at the back of the young couple as they walked away. He chuckled, scratched the hair that was sticking to the scalp, then gently pulled. A small black worm that was invisible to the naked eye flew out of his hair, and with a swish, entered the woman’s ear.

“Oh, something bit me!”

“Mosquitoes? What a garbage hospital. They put up so much greenery and attract so many mosquitoes.”

The old beggar opened his mouth to show his dirty teeth, and then walked towards the main hospital door step by step. Just as he exited the main door, it happened to be the same time that Lian Xi was walking into the hospital morgue and squashed a small bug underneath his foot.

The old beggar paused, giggled to himself then muttered, “That little guy really has a few moves”, and then wandered away from the hospital.

At nine o’clock in the morning, at the Yuan District Hospital.

People flowed in and out ceaselessly.

***

Su Jiao opened his eyes in the morning, opened his door and lazily yelled “Lian Xi!”, then saw a man in black standing in front of him.

Lord Black Reaper glanced at him lightly.

The short housemate shivered, then backed back into his room following the wall. Crying, he called Lian Xi on the phone, “Lian Xi wuwuwuwu… where are you? How come you haven’t come back yet?”

Lian Xi had just come out of the hospital: “Coming back now. What’s the matter, is something up? I’m not bringing breakfast, it’s almost noon so you order takeaway yourself.”

Su Jiao: “Am I the kind of person who calls you to bring breakfast?”

Lian Xi: “Oh.”

Su Jiao: “…”

Su Jiao: “When are you coming back! Just now, as soon as I opened the door, I was scared. That Black Reaper is standing in our living room.”

What “our” living room. Isn’t that the living room of the landlord ? This thought flashed in Lian Xi’s head. Out loud he said, “You help me greet the Lord Black Reaper, don’t neglect your duties.”

Su Jiao: “?? “

“Why are you being so nice to him all of a sudden? Do you know him?”

Lian Xi: “No. But show a bit of kindness. He’s a ghost official. One day when you’re dead, maybe you’ll need a favor or two from him.”

“You’re the one who’s dead! Your whole family is dead!”

Lian Xi: “My whole family is indeed dead and I am the only one left.”

“…”

Lian Xi hung up the phone and got into a taxi.

He has no time or energy to care about the life and death of his short housemate.

The man with the golden light is a Black Reaper and not a ghost looking to kill you. You’re not dead, so what’s there to be scared of?

The other person probably can’t even be bothered give you a few stray slivers of gold light.

In fact, Lian Xi was right. Su Jiao had just mentally prepared himself and finally mustered the courage to walk out of the room, when…

“****? There’s nobody here!”

The handsome and indifferent black man stood in front of the elevator with his hands in his pockets and his eyelids loosely closed. Carelessly, he looked at this big metal box that shuttled up and down.

A strong black aura brewed and diffused in the man’s pupils, and the thick walls seemed to be nothing in his eyes at this moment.

His gaze penetrated the wall and saw people wearing yellow and blue clothes walking into the iron box from the first floor, running into another floor, knocking on doors to deliver things, and then finally going back down in the iron box and leaving

He just watched it for ten minutes.

Lord Black Reaper felt that he had figured it out.

He pressed the elevator button and walked in.

A few seconds later.

Ding Dong!

The elevator reached the first floor.

… Hm.

His gaze moved slightly and he didn’t get out of the elevator. He stretched out his finger very calmly and pressed the button for the “9” floor gingerly. Just when the elevator door was about to close, a young and hearty voice came from outside—

“Hey wait, wait, the brother inside can you press the elevator button to keep the door open!”

Of course Lord Black Reaper did not.

But the young guy still caught up.

He was holding soy milk in his left hand and a bag of fried dough sticks in his right hand, hurriedly rushing into the elevator. He glanced at the man quietly, thinking that this man was really ruthless. He did dare do anything casually. Then he looked at the elevator button.

“Uh, you are also on the ninth floor?”

The man lowered his eyes and looked at him for a few seconds, then he curled his lips without saying a word.

Young guy: “…”

Fuck, scary.

Young guy: “I am also on the ninth floor. There are only two houses on each floor. We should be across the hall from you guys. Are you new? I know your housemate quite well.”

President Lie gave him a look that was a smile and not a smile.

Young guy: “…”

What’s wrong with this person!

The elevator dinged to the ninth floor, and the young man walked out of the elevator door speechlessly.

Su Jiao just opened the door and saw the young guy who lived across from them.

Seeing the Black Reaper, Su Jiao’s scalp went numb. He turned around and wanted to run into the house, but then remembered what Lian Xi had said.

That’s right, he would have to rely on this Black Reaper when he died!

Alas, bureaucracy was really a killer!

Su Jiao bit his lip: “There you are, you’re back. Do you want to come in?”

“I’m not in a hurry.”

A deep magnetic voice slowly sounded, and the man in black finally took a step and walked out of the elevator.

However, he did not go into his home.

Instead, step by step, he walked until he was in front of the young guy who was opening up his door holding his breakfast.

The young guy turned his head and said, “Um… do you need something?”

Lie Chen smiled. His voice was calm and emotionless: “En—”

“You should go reincarnate.”
