"What did he say?" he jumped up from sitting on the couch, spilling his wine on his pants.

She was startled when Luke jumped on the sofa and dropped her wine. "Get me another bottle! I refuse to tell the story without wine," she said pouting. She brought up her feet on the chair and hugs her knees.

Luke went to the kitchen to grab another bottle of wine in a flash before Jess changed her mind.

"So, where are we…"

She accepted the new bottle of wine and hugged it on her knees.

He stared at me for probably five minutes or so...he seemed to be doubting my story." She stifled another sob.

"I was about to take it back and tell him it was just a joke, you know. The awkwardness was just too much,... At the same time, I don't understand why my heart feels like the air is being squeezed out of it."

"He actually knows you," he whispered in disbelief. "The bastard is actually the guy you met at Midland Hotel, isn't he? He doesn't have a twin!"

She nodded.

"He apologized profusely when I told him the name of the hotel. He remembered us fighting over the hotel room." she smiled bitterly. Her heart constricted on her chest once again with the memory of her last talk with Noah.

"And that's it?" His mouth dropped open in shock and rage. "Is that all that he remembered?" How about you sleeping together?" he murmured the last question because she went pale. The redness of the alcohol can no longer be seen in her face. She lost her color.

"Maybe, you are right… I must be terrible in bed!" she bawled her eyes out. "I mean, how was it even possible!" she dropped her feet on the floor, slamming the bottle of wine on the table, half of its content spilled all over the floor.

"You know what is more insulting?" she smirked in sarcasm. "The bastard said he would take me out for dinner to make it up to me." she scoffed. He thought dinner would even out everything."

She laughed while tears fell freely down her cheeks. "He was in a hurry to leave,...you know when you wanted the other person to go away but you wanted to be polite at the same time. So you say to them, 'Let me call you,' or you say, 'Let's have dinner together next time.' That's what the bastard did to me."

She grabbed the bottle of wine and drank it like it was nothing but water. Luke tried to stop her, but he was too late. She finished the bottle to the last drop.

Luke was speechless with Jess' story. His intoxicated mind has produced no words to console her. He ended up gathering her in his arms and caressing her back as gently as he could, while her whole body trembled in pain.

Jess is a proud woman. And she has all the rights to be. She is well-respected in her field of study. She is smart, come from a good family, she has the looks. And even if she doesn't say, she comes from money.

They are both students but Jess is living in a two-bedroom posh apartment, five minutes away from the university in the expensive town of Palo Alto.

If their classmates in the university would found out about this piece of information about her, another mind-boggling story would surface on how she could afford her lifestyle.

People have the tendency to always believe negative things about Jess, probably because she is always distant towards others. She is not the type to care about the opinion of others. She is just happy living in her own bubble.

When he first heard that Jess was still a virgin at her age, and despite her looks and sex appeal, he found it laughable. He only believed her that she was indeed as pure as she said she was when she told him about a one-night stand she had, where she lost her virginity.

At this time and age, one can only find a virgin on the mountain of Delphi, where those Oracles were kept untainted and pure. But then, the existence of those Oracles has been questioned throughout history. Just like the truth of someone's virginity at the age of twenty-three!

Another reason Jess' purity was unbelievable was that she is opinionated, liberated, stubborn, and bitchy. She has a foul mouth, that when provoked could make any sailor blush in embarrassment with the words that would come out of her pretty mouth.

"Hush now, Darling." he used his girly voice as he stroked her back. She always finds his girly voice hilarious, as according to her, his tone does not match with his six-footer frame, not to mention his black skin. He prefers to call them,-- his dark chocolate skin.

However, his girly voice that sounded like a loli in a Japanese anime did not make her laugh this time. She continues to bury her face in his chest, sobbing between incoherent words.

"Bathroom. I need to use the bathroom." she slurred her words, her hands are cupping her mouth as she ran to the toilet.

"Would you like some coffee?" he yelled behind her back, but his question was drown in the sound of the flushing toilet.

Nevertheless, he stood up and make a cup of black coffee for her. He also needed one to sober up.

"Luke you are God's gift not only to women but the whole of humankind." she flattered him as she accepted the cup of steaming black coffee.

She took her cup back to the living room when she spotted her phone on top of the side table. She picked it up and dialed a number, but the number she had dialed was unreachable. Her call was automatically sent to voicemail.

"I'm not terrible in bed," she yelled on the phone.

"Jessica Joy, don't tell me you called and left a voicemail for Noah."

Jess glanced up at him with a naughty grin at her pretty face and said, "Yeah," before she dropped the phone and fell flat on her face on the sofa, dead to the world.
