Jess gingerly twisted the doorknob of Noah's bedroom. She pushed the door at once and Noah's familiar scent assaulted her olfactory senses.

Standing on the threshold of his bedroom, she faced a white wall and a huge painting hanging up on the wall under a console table. The painting has a welcoming feel to it. She took a deep breath and stepped inside Noah's bedroom.

She looked down at her feet and watched them take the first step inside the room. Once she was inside, she slowly scanned the room, taking in everything she saw.

On her left was the balcony with its floor-to-ceiling glass sliding door. A thick black-out curtain was hanging on it.

'He doesn't like sleeping with lights.'

She swept her eyes to her right and saw a king-size bed, facing the balcony. Side tables were placed on either side, and a bedroom bench was on the foot of his bed.

She smirked. Noah's bedroom was so traditional. One could say that his bedroom was like a hotel room.

Her eyes gazed up to another painting above the bed. Even without seeing the name of the painter, she could see that it's from the same artist of the painting above the console table.

She slowly took another step to the middle of the room. She saw the door of the bathroom on the left wall from the bed.

Other than that, there was nothing to see in his room where the prominent colors were gray and white. She stared at his bed with beddings that were immaculate white. Despite the room being designed like a hotel bedroom, the room has a certain welcoming feeling.

Probably because the whole room smells like Noah.

She softly chuckled and turned around to head to the balcony.

"You aren't going to look under my bed?"

She jumped when she heard Noah's teasing voice. He entered the room unnoticed because she left the door wide open.

"No, I came for the balcony." she glanced over her left shoulder and saw Noah carrying a tray of two steaming coffee mugs and a familiar clear plastic of sweets.

"Is that the same mini pineapple tart you gave me from your office?" she asked with anticipation.

"Yes."  He smiled. "Can you open the balcony door?" He cocked to his left side.

Her eyes followed his head and realized that he couldn't open the balcony because his hands were carrying the tray of coffee.

She stepped towards the balcony. Draw the curtain to the side, and slid the glass door open.

The lights of the harbor far on the horizon were the first thing her eyes saw. She took in a deep breath and smelled the crisp city air. She could smell a faint smell of the sea on it.

Her eyes looked around the balcony and were surprised to see some plants along the railings.

"You take care of them?" she asked about the plants.

"Hmm," he replied, turning his back on her. He put down the tray he was carrying on the table in front of the nest chair.

"Oh, a nest chair! I always wanted this for my balcony." she hastened her steps and dropped herself on the chair.

She ran her hands on the fabric of the cushion of the chair. "It is as comfortable as it looks," she said, then glanced up at Noah with a crease between her eyebrows.

"Usually, this kind of chair was good for one. Yours is a loveseat."

Noah arched his eyebrow with a silent question on why the size of the seat mattered.

Jess clicked her tongue when she saw the puzzled expression on Noah's face. "A loveseat is meant for two people. You got someone here to sit with?"

The puzzled expressions on Noah's face slowly changed into a clear understanding. He threw his head laughing. "Why, minx, is it jealousy that I hear?" He asked, expecting Jess to deny his accusation but she just crossed her arms under her breast and curled up her lips in annoyance.

'She is jealous.' A smile tugged the corner of his lips, he stepped forward and stood right in front of Jess. He pulled his hands from the pocket of his pants and opened them beside his thighs.

"As you can see, my legs are longer than yours, and the nest chair is meant to be comfortable. I couldn't be comfortable sitting on it if my legs aren't."

He watched the annoyed expression on Jess's face slowly change into a blank one.

He sat down next to her on the nest chair. "I had it customized for my size. Not with the thought of cuddling an adorable girl with me," his hands snaked around her waist and lifted her from the seat, and dropped her on his lap. "...but now, I think I know why they called it a loveseat," he murmured as he nuzzled the base of her neck.

"None of the women in my past set foot in this balcony, my bedroom, my house...especially in my heart."

She gritted her teeth and elbowed Noah. "Liar!"

He grunted in pain and bent over.

Jess slid her butt off Noah's lap but she wasn't able to get off the chair for his arm won't let her go.

"Baby,  who taught you all these deadly moves," he sucked in some air to ease the pain in his stomach.

"Your ex-wife set foot in your house! You liar!" she hit his arm that was around her waist. "Let go!"

"Okay, okay. I forgot that she was inside my house. Removed the house -- balcony and bedroom, definitely not."

"Yes, just this particular balcony and your current bedroom -- because she set foot in other rooms and houses, and most especially your heart."

Jess wanted to karate chop herself when she heard herself talking like a disgusting jealous woman. The corner of her eyes stings in shame.

Noah tightened his arm around her, "Yes, she did. And she left and is no longer part of my life. You now occupy all the empty spaces of my mind and my heart, Jess." he buried his face on her shoulder, and whispered, "I can't change my past, Jess. But I can still choose my future -- and I want it to be you."

He cupped her chin, tilted it to face him, "Will you give me the chance, hmm?"
