Noah despite the heaviness of the situation chucked with the fear that crossed Aadir's eyes. He had spoken to the young man before, but he didn't realize that Aadir didn't recognize his voice and this is the first time that he saw his face.

He really has to talk to Markus with his kind of jokes. Although, right now, because of his stupid jokes, Noah smiled.

"Aadir, don't believe what Mr. Markus has been telling you, okay? Do you understand that what he said about me was just a joke?"

Aadir who slowly regained the color on his face nodded. "Miss Zimmerman told me that it wasn't true but Mr. Markus didn't smile and his eyes were... cold," he whispered the last word.

Noah lost his smile with Aadir observation. "Just take care of Miss Zimmerman until I get there. Can you do that?"

Aadir nodded vigorously. "Yes, Mr. Noah. I promise in the name of my family, I will take care of Miss Zimmerman," he even lifted his hand to his right chest.

Noah felt comforted with what the young man said. He needed all comfort for him to stay still until this plane reached their destination and he could have Jess in his arms. He would never feel totally comforted though until that happened.

He watched Aadir step back in front of the camera, and the only image that registered on the phone screen was Jess, sleeping peacefully in her bed.

Noah felt his heart being pricked inside his ribcage, watching the soft rise and fall of Jess's chest. He didn't move from his seat and just watched Jess sleeping. After staring at her for a few moments, a pop-up appeared on his laptop showing Markus was calling.

He answered the call and a haggard face of Markus appeared on his laptop screen.

"Noah," he said. His eyes were dead tired.

"How was it?"

"I have the doctor with me, is the toxicologist with you?"

"Yes, hold on," he unbuckled his seatbelt and picked up his laptop, and walked to the back of the plane where the toxicologist was sitting on the last row of seats.

"Miss Navarra," he called the woman who was staring outside the plane window.

"Mr. Tiefenbacher," she acknowledged him.

He grabbed the seat in front of her and twisted the seat to face Miss Navarra. Her eyebrow shot up, seeing what he did.

He put down his computer laptop at the end of the table, between him and Miss Navarra. The laptop back was against the plane window and facing him and Miss Navarra.

He increased the volume of the computer when an old man, wearing a lab coat, sat down next to Markus. He looked bone-tired as Markus or it could be because of the wrinkly skin on his face that made him look extremely tired.

"Dr. Sidorov," he said in a croaky voice.

"Dr. Navarra."

Noah glanced at the young woman in Marvel's t-shirt. Her demeanor changed when the other doctor sat down in front of the camera, next to Markus.

"Mr. Tiefenbacher, we had run Miss Zimmerman's blood in every possible test within the short time we have and I could say," he coughed, stopping his words mid-sentence. "What's making Miss Zimmerman sick was quite strange."

"What do you mean?"

"It's something quite dangerous but whoever did this to her doesn't want her to die—"

"And that is strange for you doctor?!" Noah's blood rushed to the top of his head.

"Noah," Markus called him in a warning tone.

He blew an air of frustration, "Explain," he snarled at the doctor.

"The poison Miss Zimmerman has in her blood was from a plant. Particularly the Hemlock. The plant is highly poisonous but what Miss Zimmerman ingested was in such a dosage that won't kill her."

Noah was speechless. His whole body went numb with the confirmation that Jess was poisoned! He was lost for words and just stared at the computer screen.

"Dr. Sidorov, have you been able to find out how Miss Zimmerman ingested the said poison?"

"No. That's the reason why Dr. Patel doesn't want Jess to be transported yet." Markus answered Dr. Navarra's question while staring at Noah.

Because when Noah found out that Jess was sick, he fought with Markus with his decision to fly Jess to the US rather than have her in India.

"Dr. Patel wanted to know how and where Jess ingested the poison," Markus added.

Noah stares coldly at Markus. "We are going to find out how and why anytime, but we need to ensure Jess's safety above anything else."

Markus met Noah's icy stare and replied. "Dr. Patel believes that Jess wasn't in danger. As Dr. Sidorov said, the dosage of the poison wasn't enough to kill Jess—"

"And that's okay? Because she wasn't meant to get killed!!" Noah stood up from his chair and pulled his hair. He understood what the damn doctors were saying, what Markus was saying, but he could stop himself from wanting to kill someone who even dares to hurt Jess.

And the fact that the poison wasn't meant to kill doesn't make any difference. Someone tried to hurt Jess. That was on his head. And he couldn't forgive that.

"How does Dr. Patel managing the poison in Miss Zimmerman's body?"

Noah flinched at Miss Navarra's questions. Taking him to a halt so he could listen. Despite everyone saying Jess wouldn't die from the poison, the truth remains. The poison is in her body doing something that makes her sick.

"Medication and we are thinking of Hemodialysis. We are waiting for a family member because Dr. Patel wants to start the procedure as soon as possible."

Noah realized that he had no contact with any family members of Jess. He met her father informally but Jess didn't introduce him to her father.

He knew Ellise and Luke. Other than them, Noah had no idea who did Jess contact.

"Who is coming for Jess from her family?" he asked Markus. He felt ashamed that he had no idea and in the chaos, it did not cross his mind to ask Jess's family or to contact them.

He simply assumed that all she needed was him.
