---

When Jess finally fell asleep, he stood up from the chair, gently leaned forward to press a soft kiss on Jess's temple.

He fixed her blanket making sure she's comfortable. Looking around the room, making sure everything was fine. He slowly walked back and turned around to leave her room.

After Jess finished the chicken soup Aadir made for her, he helped her to have a bath, fool around a little, and with much resistance, sent Jess to bed. And now, he is trodding back to the library where Ellise and Markus were waiting. He hoped to god that the two haven't killed each other yet.

It's quite clear that they don't like each other, especially Ellise. She's deliberately picking on Markus.

While walking back to the library, the rage that he was feeling that he was trying to hide from Jess returned. What Ellise said has a lot of underlying meanings. She was also trying to keep things from Jess.

He quickened his steps for he couldn't wait to wring out the truth from Ellise. What did she find out to assume that the threat to Jess's life was because of him. And the idea that the people who were threatening Jess's life started hounding her since San Lucas brought out a rage that he hasn't felt for a long time.

He couldn't think of people that would hurt Jess by simply being associated with him. He has a lot of enemies but most of them were because of work. Something that they settle inside the boardroom or get even at the next contract. But it was nothing truly remarkable that would merit threatening a girl that he was showing interest with.

Because during San Lucas, Jess and him weren't even dating yet. He did run after her but not to the point that people would use her to get to him. And since he had no idea that such a threat happened, he wasn't able to protect Jess and now—she got truly hurt.

He shuddered with the thought of what if Ellise didn't know what happened and she didn't have a 'friend' that has access to such drugs on short notice. Jess would still be suffering until now. And she may be, feeling okay now, but they are still not taking any chances. He had the doctors check Jess' blood again to make sure that it was clear and she was no longer sick.

When he reached the library, he didn't bother to knock and pushed the door. He was expecting to find Markus and Ellise grabbing each other's throat but the two of them were deeply concentrating on watching a video. He had to clear his throat for them to notice him.

"You're back," Markus said, tapping the chair next to him.

Noah sat down and watched the video they were watching. He also saw the last few minutes of the video but he noticed that it was the coffee shop where Jess likes to hang out. He was quite familiar with the interior of the shop not only because they were there before but also because every time he would call Jess during her lunch break or in the afternoon—she's in that coffee shop.

"The man knew where the camera was. That's the reason why he chose that table. It was in a blind spot from all of the CCTV of the coffee shop." Ellise heaved a sigh, leaning back against the backrest of her chair.

"Who is this man that you two were talking about?" He didn't see the first part of the video. The only part he saw was a video of people going in and out of the shop.

"The man whom we thought was the one who gave Jess the poison."

"Is this man sitting near the door by the entrance?"

Ellise knitted her forehead and asked Noah, "you know him?"

"Jess told me about him in passing once. She said the guy kept on watching her, she even showed me his face. We were on a video call at the time." he explained further.

Ellise pulled the laptop closer to her and her fingers danced rapidly on the laptop keyboard, pulling some of the videos where the mysterious man that was following Jess was seen.

It took her about five minutes to pull all of the video and another fifteen minutes to cut the videos where he was in and showed them to Noah. "It's him. You recognized this fucker?"

"Yeah, that's him," he nodded, gritting his teeth in rage. When Jess flipped her phone camera and showed him the face of the man that she bumped on the line to order coffee and then, he started watching her from across the table, he wanted to punch his face, now he didn't just want to punch his face, he wanted to kill the bastard using his bare hands.

"As you can see in all these clips, there are no clear shots of his face or his body built. Clearly a professional."

"But Jess saw his face. Not just once in that coffee shop. The last time Jess and I talked, she said something, ``he's a frequent customer too of that coffee shop."

"If he is this careful but shows his face to Jess. It only means one thing."

Noah and Markus exchanged worried glances when the usual poker face of Ellise shown a murderous intent.

"If this bastard showed his face to Jess, they are not yet done with her," her fingers danced on the keyboard again, and Markus' computer went black and a series of codes came up on the laptop screen.

Markus gasped audibly with what he was seeing and couldn't help but gave Ellise an amazed look.

After tapping on Markus's laptop, she snapped her head to Noah and in an icy tone, said, "Just as I suspected. They tampered with the CCTV of the coffee shop. These videos that Markus was able to pull out from the security footage of the store were already tempered. And as much as I hate this bastard, they did a very good job. This can pass heavy scrutiny as something as raw videos even for professional eyes."
