 Layer? I Hardly Know Her!

(*Celia’s POV*)

Getting the guide of this layer to help me was an absurd nightmare. She was so damn hungover that most of the day was spent with me nursing said hangover for her. Eventually, she did sobered up enough to help me leave.

Stupidly, and in the woman’s words herself, because of her personality, she is one of the only guides that can just make a door to either lower or higher layers of Hell. And she can make them WHEREEVER she wants to…

This is all fine and dandy, but she lied to me the entire day… She said that she would need to be in tiptop shape to guide me out of this layer. That was a blatant lie, as she just made a door appear in our hotel room.

Velta: “I truly now believe that the Hell Guides are just lazy angels or angels that have some personality quirk, like being an alcoholic, or a lying a lot.” She said with a sigh.

Celia: “And I couldn’t blame you for assuming that. These Hell Guides haven’t really given us a good reason to respect them…” I say with a sigh of my own.

Velta: “I feel like this teleportation is taking longer than the last one…” She said with an annoyed tone.

Celia: “Surely, you’re just imagining it taking longer…” I reply with a deadpan tone.

She wasn’t wrong… We have been stuck in this teleportation for over an hour. Frankly, we have actually gotten used to it at this point. Which is good, as one of our plans involves fixing that teleportation array once the war is over.

Velta: “I most apologize once more, Celia. I assumed that you were weak, and I assumed that Ria only married you because you’re beautiful. But I was clearly wrong on both accounts.” She said with a remorseful tone.

Celia: “I don’t mind, you don’t really know me that much, anyway. By the way, did you know? Ria is also married to one of my mothers.” I say with a giggle.

Velta: “…That is a good joke, Celia.” She replied with a laugh.

Celia: “Sure, Amelie is my adoptive mother, but I still see her as my mom. I am not joking, Velta.” I say with a serious tone.

Velta: “…”

Ah, that made her quiet! How lucky! No, I understand that she has nothing else to do, but we have been talking for over an hour. Even I have my limits… Thankfully, at this exact moment, we had landed in a new layer.

Velta: “How is this a layer of Hell?” She asked with a confused tone.

Celia: “…”

Now it was my turn to be silent. This layer was candy. No, really. It was a land of candy. Velta’s question is valid, why is this considered a part of Hell?…

Taking a bite of some random candy, I instantly spit it out. The candy, if you could even call it that, tasted like the most foul thing that I have ever tasted before in my life…

Velta: “Ah, so the candy taste horrible, I see.” She said.

Celia: “I want to go home to my wives…” I say with a sad tone.

Velta: “Stop complaining! You can do that once we leave.” She said with a stern tone.

Celia: “I want to see my daughter as well…” I say with a continued sad tone.

Velta: “You have a daughter!? Anyway, that isn’t important. You can just do all of that when you get back!” She exclaimed.

Celia: “No, I can’t. As you stupidly started a major war!” I yell in annoyance.

Velta: “I did what now? Oh, shit… Okay, I’ll admit to helping out the clearly not mentally stable Elf queen, but how did that end in a war?” She asked with a confused tone.

Celia: “Amora plans to burn the entire Elven forest down. Doing that would anger damn near everyone, and anger every higher being in existence. That forest puts out a lot of Mana to our world, after all.” I explain.

Velta: “…My bad, I guess? You might be going to war, but surely it hasn’t affected you that much, right?” She asked.

Celia: “You mind controlled all of her daughters. All of them tried to kill me, and even though such a thing would be a pipe dream, they tried to kill Ria as well.” I reply.

Velta: “Hm… I truly belong in Hell, then.” She said with a sigh.

Celia: “Whatever… We just need to focus on escaping this place. Now, if I was a candy city, where the fuck would I be?” I say.

Looking around, or rather, I flew up into the sky to get a higher vantage point. Luckily, I could see a city not that far from our current location. Flying toward it, I was immediately attacked in the air…

And not by a demon, but clearly by a Hell Guide. Excuse me? Why the fuck are you attacking us for no reason? Blocking her strike with my sword, I sent a kick to her left side. The kick sent her flying off into the distance. Oops?…

Okay, I was in a bad mood, so please forgive me for putting so much force into that kick… I didn’t mean it, I swear! Please don’t automatically put me in Hell for this!

Velta: “Nice Kick, Celia!” She said with a proud tone.

I just kicked the shit out of a being that is basically an angel, is that really something to be proud about!? Eh, whatever my mother-in-law says, must be correct.

Candy Hell Guide: “Why are you so damn strong!?” She yelled.

Celia: “Because I do not belong here, as I am a living person. Sorry about the kick, I put too much force into it, as I am in a bad mood.” I answer with a remorseful tone.

Candy Hell Guide: “There aren’t any demons on this layer, so you could easily take this place over… Why don’t I just send you to a lower layer right now?” She proposed.

Celia: “I have no desires to take over any place in Hell, so if you would show us the way out, that would be amazing.” I reply with a smile.

Thankfully, this layer wasn’t that big of a deal. Th guide was still wounded from my kick, and she tried to play it off. But her limping told me that she was still in pain. Without her asking, I used healing magic on her, which she greatly appreciated.

It didn’t take that long for her to take us to an exit, and once again, we were stuck flying in the weird teleportation thingy. No, wait… This still makes me sick…

Velta: “Eventually, we will get used to this, right?” She asked.

Celia: “God, I hope so…” I say with a sigh.

I just hope that this one won’t take an hour like the last one. I am beginning to get sick of Hell’s shit… Well, this place is HELL, so the fact that we’re suffering, probably means that it is doing its job… Doesn’t mean that I won’t complain about it, though…
