As the team carried Lyra's limp form back to their base, her eyes remained fixed on the strange gray blobs that surrounded her. She could hear their muffled voices, their concern evident, but their words seemed distant, lost in the void of her perception. The world spun around her, a kaleidoscope of disoriented shapes and sounds.

Moments later, Lyra's consciousness faded, and when she awoke, she found herself in an entirely different place. The sterile, white walls of a hospital room closed in on her, and the beeping of machines filled the air. Panic gripped her heart as she tried to comprehend the sudden shift in reality.

"What... What's happening? Where am I?" Lyra's voice trembled with fear as she frantically looked around, her eyes wide with confusion.

A nurse rushed into the room, her face a mix of concern and reassurance. "Calm down, dear. You're in the hospital. You had a medical emergency. You're safe now."

But Lyra's mind couldn't grasp the nurse's words. She clutched at the sheets, her breath coming in shallow gasps. The memories of the distorted world, the gray blobs that once represented her friends, haunted her thoughts.

"I... I was with my team... in another world. They were... they were... squares." Her voice quivered, barely audible over the cacophony of the hospital's sterile surroundings.

The nurse exchanged a worried glance with a doctor, who approached Lyra with a gentle demeanor. "It seems like you've been through a lot. We're here to help you. Can you tell us more about what you're experiencing?"

Lyra's eyes welled up with tears as she struggled to find the right words. "I don't know... It felt so real. The battles, the distorted forms of my friends... It was like I was trapped in a nightmare."

The doctor nodded empathetically. "Sometimes our minds can play tricks on us during times of stress. We'll run some tests and do everything we can to help you understand what you've been going through."

Lyra underwent a series of examinations, but each result came back inconclusive. The doctors couldn't explain the vivid hallucinations she had experienced or the disconnection she felt from her own reality. The lines between her memories of the alternate world and her present situation blurred, leaving her in a state of unease and isolation.

Days turned into weeks, and Lyra remained in the hospital, her mind burdened by unanswered questions. The concern of her teammates, the ones she had seen as gray blobs, weighed heavily on her heart. Were they still trapped in that distorted world? Were they searching for her, lost in their own turmoil?

Her thoughts consumed her, and as night fell, Lyra lay in her hospital bed, her eyes fixated on the ceiling. Tears streamed down her face as she whispered into the darkness, her words a desperate plea.

"I need to find them... I need to understand... Please, let me go back."

But the hospital room remained silent, offering no solace, no answers. As Lyra grappled with her own identity, another unsettling revelation struck her like a lightning bolt. The hospital records, her supposed past, provided no traces of her existence. She was a name without a history, a nobody in the eyes of the world.

She clung to her own memories, the fragments of her time in that alternate reality, where she had a purpose, where she had friends who depended on her. The void of her past only amplified her yearning for connection, for a place where she truly belonged.

And so, with her heart heavy with the weight of uncertainty, Lyra drifted into a restless sleep. The chapter ended with her monologue, her despair echoing through the sterile environment, her yearning for connection with her lost friends hanging heavy in the air.
